Chapter Text

The halls of the dorms glistened with Christmas decorations. Christmas lights were draped across the rooms. The sound of holiday music echoed across the hall. The smell of fresh pine wafted through the building.

Bakugo was leaning against the wall, his expression slightly annoyed as he watched his classmates run around decorating the entire dorm building. He thought it was a complete waste of time, but he wouldn't dare vocalize his thoughts, especially to the girl who was bouncing excitedly around the room: Uraraka.

"Do we really need all these decorations?" He grumbled, crossing his arms over his chest. "It's just a stupid holiday."

Uraraka whipped around, a cheerful smile on her face, her eyes sparkling in the festive light. "It's not just a holiday, Bakugo," she countered, her voice dripping with excitement. "It's Christmas! It's a time for family, joy and love!"

Bakugo rolled his eyes, his expression not giving away how he truly felt about her enthusiasm. "It's a time for pointless gifts and fake happiness," he muttered under his breath, shoving his hands into his pockets.

But that's when he noticed Kaminari from the corner of his eye – holding a- is that a mistletoe...?!

Bakugo's eyes widened slightly as he noticed Kaminari's mischievous grin, a slight smirk on his face. He knew that look. Kaminari was up to no good, especially with that mistletoe in his hand.

"Oi, dumbass," Bakugo called out, straightening up from the wall he was leaning against. "What the hell are you doing with that?"

Kaminari's smirk grew wider as he held up the mistletoe. "Oh, you know," he replied, his voice laced with a hint of amusement. "Just preparing for the holiday traditions."

Bakugo's eyes narrowed at the response. "Bullshit," he snapped, taking a step towards Kaminari. "What are you planning, Dunce Face?"

Kaminari's eyes gleamed with mischief as he glanced around the room, making sure others were out of earshot. His eyes landed on Midoriya. Bakugo’s eyes followed Kaminari’s line of sight, his eyes widening as he realised who he was looking at.

Bakugo followed Kaminari's gaze and felt a pang of irritation in his chest. He knew exactly what that idiot was thinking.

"Don't even think about it, Pikachu," he snapped, but his words seemed to fall on deaf ears.

Kaminari ignored Bakugo's warning and sauntered over to Midoriya, holding up the mistletoe with a wicked grin.

But that’s when Todoroki sat down next to Midoriya instead, holding a relatively large box. Kaminari stopped suddenly, rolling his eyes as he missed his chance, for now at least...

Bakugo's eyes widened as Todoroki took a seat beside Midoriya, a large box in his hands. He gritted his teeth, a mix of anger and annoyance building inside of him.

Damn it. He was interrupted before he could intervene and... Wait... was that a gift Todoroki had? For Deku

Bakugo watched the interaction closely, his eyes following Todoroki's every move. His fists only clenched tighter as he noticed the slight but definite blush on Todoroki’s face.

“Midoriya... I have a gift for you...” Todoroki spoke in his usual quiet, seemingly emotionless voice.

However, Midoriya himself could see the slight nervousness and giggled softly. His eyes widened as he looked at the box in his arms.

“Oh...! T-Thank you Todoroki...! Heh... You really shouldn’t have... You know, you being my friend is the best gift I could ever ask for...” The genuine smile and light blush on his face only added to his charm, making Todoroki’s heart beat a little faster.

Bakugo internally cursed under his breath as he watched the scene unfold before him. Deku's genuine smile, the faint blush on his cheeks, his kind words... it was like a damn punch to the gut.

Todoroki's heart was pounding in his chest as he fought to maintain his composure. Midoriya's words touched him deeply, but he held back his emotions, hiding behind his usual calm and collected facade.

"You're too kind, Midoriya..." he replied quietly, his eyes not leaving Midoriya's face. "But I also want you to open the box..."

Midoriya giggled again, and his scarred, strong fingers carefully undid the green and white bow decorating the box. He opened it to find an expensive looking, luxurious electric blanket.

Todoroki watched anxiously as Midoriya opened the box, revealing the blanket inside.

As Midoriya gently ran his fingers over the fabric, taking in the gift, Todoroki felt his heart skip a beat.

"I figured, you being the kind and selfless person that you are," Todoroki spoke quietly, his voice betraying a hint of nervousness, "You'd always put others before yourself... even at the expense of your own comfort sometimes..."

Midoriya’s eyes watered as he took in his words.

“I’ve also noticed how you find comfort in blankets... Or I guess in soft things in general. I think it’s really cute...” Todoroki looked away as he muttered shyly.

Midoriya's heart skipped a beat as Todoroki turned away shyly, a slight flush creeping onto his cheeks. The fact that he had observed him and even knew about his preference for soft, comforting things made his heart flutter.

Midoriya, with watery eyes, carefully set the box down on the table and turned to Todoroki. " Todoroki," he started, his voice soft. "It's an amazingly thoughtful gift, but you didn't need to spend so much on me..." He chuckled quietly.

Todoroki's heart rate picked up as Midoriya's soft voice washed over him. He was so earnest and honest; it was almost unfair.

"Yes, I did," Todoroki replied firmly, meeting Midoriya's gaze. "You're always giving, and you rarely receive anything in return. It's my way of showing you that you're important and appreciated. And, well..."

He paused, a small, slight smile pulling at the corners of his lips.

"I wanted to see you wrapped up in it... You would look cute."

Bakugo and Kaminari both rolled their eyes at their conversation, or specifically, everything Todoroki was saying. Kaminari huffed and hung the mistletoe he was holding back on the ceiling.

Todoroki paused for a moment and fidgeted nervously.

“However, if you really feel this bad, Midoriya... Then... I guess there is a way you could repay me...” Todoroki mumbled shyly, is usual confident and apathetic demeanour crumbling completely. He was just about to pull out the mistletoe on the other side of him, when the doorbell rang.

Midoriya’s eyes widened, as if he had just realised something.

“Hold on...! That must be Eri! I told her we were throwing a Christmas party! S-Sorry I’ll be right back...” Midoriya rubbed the back of his neck apologetically, only making him look even cuter and enchanting. Todoroki had completely forgotten about his attempts for a kiss and could only nod dumbly as Midoriya hurried to the door.

Bakugo and Kaminari, along with a few others who had noticed chuckled and giggled at Todoroki’s failed attempts. Todoroki only huffed and glared at them in response.

"You're such an idiot, Icy Hot," Bakugo scoffed, the corners of his lips twitching to form a smirk.

Kaminari laughed loudly, doubling over. "You're not exactly being smooth, Todobro!" he snickered.

"You were almost as bad as Bakugo usually is..."

Bakugo's eyes narrowed in irritation at the comparison. "Shut the hell up," he snapped, his hands clenched into fists. "I'm nothing like Icy Hot over there."
