Cordelia cleans Buffys wounds after a slayer mission

For Femslash February day 8: Hands

Notes:

I really struggled to write this prompt for some reason but I pushed through and finished something lol

Work Text:

“Sit.” A feminine voice says with a perfectly manicured pointing to the counter.

“What, why?” Buffy asks but still compiles as she hops onto the item with ease despite it being almost half her height.

“You're getting your slayer blood all over the library floor. Vampires will love it, Giles probably not so much.” Cordelia responds as she walks to the other side of the counter. Searching for a first aid kit that certainly had to be here.

Buffy looks down at her hands. Her knuckles are bruised, scraped and bleeding, her fingernails chipped. She had fought a vampire that was on the stronger side during her lunch time. She still managed to defeat her in the end.

“They'll heal themselves.”

“Still needs to be cleaned, the last thing Sunnydale needs is to have the slayer die from some weird infection. You can sometimes be useful, most of the time.” Cordelia responds as she pulls a few things from the box she's managed to find.

“Wow, thanks.”

“You're welcome.”

Buffy watches as Cordelia walks in front of her and holds out her hand, She gives the other girl her hand without much thought.

Cordelia tries to strictly focus on cleaning her wounds. And NOT the way Buffy's hands feel in hers but…. They're softer than they should be, for someone who beats up monsters weekly. It makes her wonder if it could've been her, the outcast with loser friends. With a purpose, helping people. A lonely hero.

Cordelia pats the peroxide on buffy's hand with a cotton ball and listens as she lets out a tiny little hiss. Buffy sees Cordelia raise a perfectly trimmed eyebrow in judgment.

“It stings.”

The pout is almost cute, Cordelia allows herself to think.

After a couple more dabs Cordys managed to clean all the cuts. And Buffy had been right they were already starting to scab over.

Cordelia goes to throw out the cotton swabs and put the peroxide away until a hand on her wrist stops her.

“Thank you.”
