Chapter Text

Akito didn't plan on working at a daycare. His dad did. Unfortunately for him, his dad would always win arguments.

He was alright with it, though, since he actually liked kids just fine—as long as they weren't screaming, sticky, or related to him.

Despite that, Akito had always enjoyed his job, despite not seeming like it. He's a part-time daycare worker, always watching the kids and making sure that they are doing well when their parents drop them off. Most of the kids were and their parents were nice enough. Most of his co-workers were fresh out of college, so he also had co-workers of his age, and didn't feel out of place working there.

It was pretty hard for him to believe that he'd like the place after his dad punished him into working at the daycare for not doing anything all day.

Though, he wasnt really sure if it was a punishment or not since Akito remembered his dad saying that it would help him in some sort of way.

Of course, Akito didn't really understand how working at a daycare would help him, but it was probably because his dad wanted him to become more responsible.

And to make his own money so he wouldnt have to ask for some. That was a pretty decent reason.

Oh well, Akito didn't really care since he was having fun most of the time—except when a little kid would barf on him.

Usually, he'd watch the families come in one at a time at his desk before the parents would bid goodbye to their toddlers and leave.

Working at the daycare was like an endless cycle—except that there was something new to do each day, and it wasn't like a boring office job.

Akito would usually brag to Ena about how fun his job could be at times, since she was a commissioned artist, and that was a pretty exhausting job.

But recently, he noticed a handsome-looking man with split-dyed hair drop off a child—he'd been visiting the daycare for a month now.

He wore simple, stylish clothing that was baggy, yet it fit him perfectly. He had sharp eyes—gray and unreadable, like an eagle—that would look over the room as if he could see something the others couldn't, and he acted like he was a higher power. His confidence was ideal, his face card was flawless, and he was perfect.

Every time he stepped into the room, holding a young boy's hand, he would dominate the place and leave it silent.

He wouldn't say anything at all, and that only added to the mysterious aura. Unless he was feeling generous, maybe he'd say a soft "thank you," but that was it.

Even Akito couldn't help but admit the man was quite attractive...yet, he didn't even know his name.

But he was really hot.

Really, really hot.

Dangerously hot.

The kind of hot that caused Akito to forget his name and all basic information a nine-year-old would know.

He was just that hot.

Akito would kick his feet whenever he'd get home just thinking of the guy.

But for some reason, he felt familar to Akito—like they were closer in one of his past lives. It was a stupid delusion, but Akito swore to Ena that he had some strange connection to the guy.

It wasn't fair how a guy could be so perfect. He was attractive, mysterious, and one hell of a parent. Akito had seen how the guy would comfort his son when he had to leave—the way he would crouch down and pet the young boy's head, whispering something before letting the kid go. Never for anyone else. Especially Akito.

Which was fine.

Totally fine.

He couldn't accept the fact that he was jealous of a little kid who was around four.

It would be pretty embarrassing if Ena found out.

Oh well, Akito should be focused on doing his job—that didn't involve getting distracted by hot dads with piercing eyes and a mysterious aura. That wasn't included in the job description, after all.

Unless Akito skipped a line, he didn't read anything in the job description—I mean, who would?

Well, definitely not him.

His dad already filled it out, and it was a daycare. It would a surprise to not know what you're signing up for at a daycare for children.

Maybe in some sort of universe, the daycare Akito worked at was some sort of superhero base, he would be a superhero fighting crimes for the greater good.

But instead, Akito was just a regular daycare worker, slaving away at a computer while taking care of little children that barf and shit everywhere.

It was alright though, he had a comfortable chair, great coworkers, and a hot guy to look at everyday—wait, that wasn't a part of the script.

Oh well, that guy was just so hot in Akito's mind—he couldn't help but glance at the man every time he walked in.

It's not like Akito was doing it overexcessively...or at least he hoped he wasn't. He didn't seem to notice yet.

Akito watched as the man walked in, brought his kid over to the play area, and then went over to the machine to log in the time he dropped off his kid.

After a while, he left, and Akito immediately went towards the machine to see what he had input.

"His kid's name is...Edward Kamishiro...? What an ugly name..." Akito mumbled underneath his breath, who names their kid 'Edward...' They were in Japan—not America, for heaven's sake...

That guy must've watched too many Western shows, maybe one of his favorite characters was named Edward?

"Hey, Akito, quit dozing off and focus." Akito's manager barked as he passed by, pinching the young man's neck to snap him out of his daze before walking away and doing the same to other slacking employees.

He suddenly jolted from his thoughts as his manager came by and scolded him, "Y-Yeah.... I'll head back to work, sir..."

Akito let out a heavy sigh and slumped back over to his desk, where he would have to log in the children's behavior. He stared at it for a bit, procrastinating since he didn't feel like doing his job today.

Akito turned his focus to Edward, watching as the child played with the other children, screaming and shouting with joy. Turning back to the computer screen, Akito clicked behavior options for Edward and selected 'good.' He was a pretty good influence on other kids after all. An idea popped into Akito's head, one he decided to try.

He looked up Edward's name in the system to see who his legal guardians were—three names popped up, which surprised Akito. He adjusted his reading glasses to make sure he read it right.

Rui Kamishiro

Shizuku Hinomori

Toya Aoyagi

"What the fuck..." Akito muttered quietly, confusion spread on his face. Why were his first two guardians famous...?! He didn't know that the daycare was taking care of a celebrity's child.

His only question was which one out of the three was the hot guy—he could rule out Shizuku, though, since it was a female name. Akito sighed, clicking onto the profile of Toya Aoyagi first, and took a look at the image of the guy's ID.

"Ah, it's him."
