Work Text:

itadori’s not sure how long she’s been here for, but she already wants to leave. at some random frat party, she somehow let her friend kugisaki drag her here, claiming that it’ll be the time of their lives. she also said that she wouldn’t leave her side, but she’s literally everywhere but by itadori’s side. god, this sucks, she hates parties like these.

with ear-splitting music loud enough to blow someone’s eardrums out, bright lights flashed around, changing from one obnoxiously neon color to another. the food was lame and so were the drinks, and nothing about this party seemed fun. itadori hated all of it, but she can’t leave without kugisaki. despite being a backstabbing traitor, itadori wouldn’t do that to her.

though, from the looks of her tongue down another girl’s throat, there’s a good chance kugisaki won’t be coming back to their dorm when the night ends. what time is it even? half-past midnight, itadori groaned. she can make it another hour, right? hopefully kugisaki will be done messing around and they can leave together safe and sane.

ugh, whatever. grabbing another drink- even though it tasted terrible -, itadori filled up his cup with some cheap vodka, hoping that it would at least help with the strobing lights. picking a corner to awkwardly stand in, she scans the room as she drinks. it’d be nice if she had someone to make out with too, but nobody here caught itadori’s eye- holy fuck, she’s gorgeous.

across the room stood a girl with long, spiky black hair wearing a distressed band-tee and black miniskirt. her studded belt peeks out from below her shirt, and the fishnets paired with platforms made her all the more intimidatingly alluring. a few silver piercings littered her face and ears, going perfectly with her piercing green eyes. shit, itadori can’t take her eyes off her.

but her gaze lingers for longer than it should’ve when the girl catches her staring and frowns, turning away. did itadori get rejected already? damn, that’d be really lame. no, she has to keep trying, she can’t let this get her down. only when itadori talks to the girl and she seems clearly uninterested will give it up. but first, she actually needs to find out how to talk to her.

itadori scans the room, searching for kugisaki in every corner and crevice. eventually she spots her, making out with the same girl for the past hour. she rushes over, breaking the two apart as she mutters a quick apology to both. itadori hates to pull kugisaki away when she’s having such a good time, but she trusts that they could continue after she gets help.

“hey, what are you doing?” kugisaki huffed, shaking itadori’s hand off her arm. “things were just about to get good, we were gonna go back to her place!”
“and leave here without me?” itadori rolled her eyes. “whatever, you can do that later, i need you to help me talk to this really pretty girl first.”

now that piqued kugisaki’s interest. “ooo, alright then, who’s the lucky girl?”
“there.” itadori pointed at her, the girl’s hair sticking out like a sore thumb. well, not like itadori thought it was a bad thing, she actually really liked it.
“oh, her?” kugisaki frowned. “i don’t know, she’s kinda hard to talk to.”

“you know her?”
“not personally, but i’ve heard about her,” kugisaki said, grabbing a quick drink. “her name’s fushiguro megumi, and most people know her for being cold and mean. most people don’t even try to hit on her because they know she won’t tolerate their bullshit.”

fushiguro megumi. wow, what a beautiful name. itadori knows she should take what kugisaki’s saying seriously and maybe rethink her feelings, but how can she when fushiguro’s just that beautiful? this might end in a terrible heartbreak, but she wants to at least try.
“i still want to talk to her,” itadori said, staring from afar. “kugisaki, how do i talk to her?”

kugisaki arched her brow. “you sure you want to? she saw us staring at her for like, five seconds and already looks pissed off. i’m pretty sure she knows your face now and hates it.”
“i know, but i just- i really want to talk to her,” itadori repeated, albeit feeling a little dejected. “i know i probably don’t have a chance with her, but i won’t know unless i try, right?”

with a little bit of begging, kugisaki sighed. “oh, alright. but it’s not my fault if you end up getting your heartbroken. or even worse, a black eye. i heard she can really pack a punch.”
“yay! thanks, kugisaki!” itadori wasn’t dissuaded though, only finding fushiguro’s fighting attitude all the more alluring. she stands up for herself and what she believes in, and that’s cool as hell.

“yeah, yeah, whatever, let’s get this over with so i can go back to that girl.” kugisaki cleared her throat. “so, did you get a chance to look at the band on fushiguro’s shirt?”
itadori blinked. “oh, um, i haven’t.”
“well, you should’ve. use that as an in to talk to and get to know her more.”

trying her best to sneakily look over, itadori took in fushiguro’s stunning outfit all over again. looks like a band called… slayer? she’s heard of them before, but never really listened to them.
“ok, so should i ask her about it or listen to them and then talk to her about it?” itadori asked.
“the first one,” kugisaki advised, “you don’t know enough to hold a conversation about it.”

itadori nodded. “ok, got it.”
“cool. now can i go back to that girl i was making out with?”
“ugh, fine…” itadori groaned. “if you’re gonna leave with her though, tell me first. i don’t wanna be kept up wondering what time you’ll come back.”

“i’ll try to. can’t promise i’ll remember, i’ll be too busy making out with a hot girl while you can’t even talk to one,” kugisaki teased with a wink, already on her way towards that girl. if she wasn’t so right, itadori would’ve argued back. whatever, now’s her chance to prove her wrong. seeing as fushiguro was alone, itadori took the chance and headed over.

but first, she took a quick swig of the shitty vodka at the snacks stand. she did not have the balls in her to talk to fushiguro sober. besides, if everything goes wrong, at least she’ll have alcohol to drown her sorrows away. it’s long past midnight and she’s at a party, might as well enjoy herself the best she could; she just hopes she can enjoy herself with fushiguro in her arms.

“hey, i like your shirt. it’s slayer, right? a metal band?” god, itadori hopes she sounds at least somewhat collected. her heart’s going a hundred miles per hour, and her palms are more sweaty than she’d like to admit. with a cold gaze, itadori expected fushiguro to either vaguely respond or shoo her away to which itadori would’ve taken the hint and left.

but instead, something entirely different happened. it was as faint as ever, but she swore fushiguro’s eyes lit up for a moment.
“ye- yeah,” fushiguro said, seeming a bit expectant. “d- do you listen to them?”
ok, it’s going well so far. “no, i don’t, but i’ve heard of them. you got any songs to recommend?”

there it was again, the slightest hint of light shining beautifully in fushiguro’s eyes. they were full of wonder and awe like a little kid seeing an ice cream truck.
“well, there’s some popular ones like ‘raining blood’ and ‘angel of death’. those are pretty good, but my favorite is ‘black magic’. i love the lyrics and just the whole flow of the song.”

itadori nodded. “that’s cool, i’ll try to remember them-”
“oh, ‘bloodline’ is also really good, and the visuals in the music video are just so cool,” fushiguro continued, her soft smile shining brighter than the sun. “if you end up liking slayer, you should also check out megadeth and lamb of god, they’re both amazing metal bands.”

itadori tried her best to follow along, taking note of every song and band fushiguro mentions. but the only thing she could focus on was just how she’s nothing like what kugisaki described her to be. she’s not mean at all, she just looks that way. in reality, her eyes hold the stars as she speaks from the heart, pure excitement radiating off her the more she talks.

fushiguro’s just happy to talk about her interests to someone, and itadori’s more than willing to be that person for her. seeing how passionate fushiguro is only made itadori fall for her more, admiring every inflection of her voice and swaying of her hands as she talks. they just met, but itadori looks at her with nothing but love and admiration in her eyes.

she really didn’t expect much to come out of this, thinking that just being able to say something to her was an accomplishment. fushiguro may be the most breathtaking girl in the world, but itadori would’ve managed somehow. but now that she knows what she’s like, how could she possibly leave without fushiguro’s hand in hers?

she’s beautiful, but itadori’s in love with fushiguro’s mind more than anything.

“i really like ‘hourglass’ by lamb of god, so you should check that one out-” just then, fushiguro paused and stared at itadori. what’s going on? “sorry, am i talking too much?”
“oh my god, no, not at all!” itadori immediately denied. if anything she’d want fushiguiro to talk her head off till the end of time. “what made you think that?”

“oh, i don’t know, you were just staring at me kinda weird,” fushiguro replied, “like you were zoning out or something.”
“i wasn’t, i promise, i was just-” itadori stopped and sighed. she can’t keep this up, she has to tell her. “i’m sorry, fushiguro, i really am.”

fushiguro arched her brow. “what are you sorry for? and how do you know my name?”
this was the moment of truth, and itadori prepared herself for rejection. “well, the truth is i thought you were really pretty and cool, so i wanted to talk to you, but i didn’t know how to. so i asked my friend and she told me to talk about that band on your shirt.”

it’s a reasonable reaction, but itadori hates seeing fushiguro look at her with such irritation in her eyes. she just hopes fushiguro will hear her out.
“she told me who you were and how you’re always really cold to anybody that tries to hit on you, but i still wanted to try, even though you kinda glared at me when i was staring at you earlier.”

“oh, i didn’t know that was you, and i wasn’t glaring at you either,” fushiguro explained. “my eyes aren’t that great, and i thought you were someone i knew it.”
itadori chuckled. “really? you weren’t just thinking i was some creep?”
“no, not at all.” fushiguro laughed with her, and it was heavenly.

shit, she’s getting off track. “um, anyway, i- i was pretty sure i was gonna get turned down from what my friend said, so i kinda expected to just leave you as some kind of one-sided, idolized crush in my mind.”
“but…?”

“bu- but when you started talking, your eyes would light up, and it was so beautiful that i just couldn’t possibly leave it all. i fell in love the second you smiled at me, and i’m sorry.”
“why are you apologizing?” fushiguro asked. she didn’t seem angry or annoyed, more so amused than anything. how strange.

“because you probably thought i was trying to be your friend just to end up having some ulterior motive,” itadori mumbled, feeling ashamed of herself. god, this is why she doesn’t talk to people. though fushiguro wasn’t mad, itadori still didn’t expect to hear a soft chuckle coming from her. she was light itself, glowing like the moon above.

“thank you, but i’m not upset. this is a party, finding a partner is half the reason everybody’s here. plus, you haven’t given me a reason to be upset, not when you’re this adorably honest.”
itadori looked away. she could already tell that she was bright red. “bu- but my friend said that you usually turn people down-”

“that’s because they were all creeps,” fushiguro cut off. “i mean, if you’re being an ass to me, i’m not gonna let it slide, i’m gonna be an ass back.”
“o- oh, yeah, i guess so.” shit, that makes sense, itadori feels like a complete idiot. “s- so what about me? i know we don’t know each other well, but do i have at least a little bit of a chance?”

fushiguro hummed, eyeing her up and down before getting closer and caressing her arm. itadori didn’t know what to make of it, but it had to be something good, right?
“you’re right, we don’t know each other well, or at all even,” fushiguro said, tracing the outline of itadori’s muscles. this is certainly the strangest rejection she’s ever gotten.

“but that’s not to say that i don’t want to get to know you,” fushiguro added, her icy gaze sending chills down itadori’s spine. “if you’re really ok with me, i’d like to get to know you.”
holy crap, itadori’s never felt so helplessly in love before. “ye- yes, that’d be great! i- i’d love to get to kn- know you more too!”

“i’m glad. now, what’s your name? i don’t think you’ve told me yet.”
“it- it’s itadori yuuji.”
“itadori,” fushiguro repeated, batting her lashes. “i like that name.”
“i- i like yours too,” itadori murmured, turning away. god, her heart is beating way too loud.

fushiguro chuckled. “you’re sweet. anyway, i know i just said that i’d love to get to know you more, but… isn’t that kind of stuff better to learn on a date, don’t you think?”
“um, yeah, i guess so…” what’s going on? what’s happening? before itadori could even ask, fushiguro leaned it, stopping right by her ear.

“well, we’re at a party right now and it’s past midnight,” fushiguro said, sultry and soft. “so why don’t we leave that for another day and have some fun?”
she didn’t need to ask itadori twice. the second fushiguro leaned back, she crashed her lips into hers, her hands slotting perfectly around fushiguro’s waist.

with their lips still interlocked, itadori picked her up effortlessly, pushing her against the wall. she drank in fushiguro’s taste and all the little moans she let out. this was even better than itadori ever could’ve imagined, falling even more in love with fushiguro. hot and heavy, the two parted ways, gasping for air as lust and desire glossed over their eyes.

“i’m sure there’s a free room around her somewhere,” fushiguro said between pants, “what do you say we take this somewhere more private?”
“yeah, i’d like that,” itadori replied, kissing her once more. it wasn’t rushed and desperate this time though. it was sweet and soft, wanting to take her time and properly cherish fushiguro.

“actually, i have a better idea,” fushiguro said, gesturing to be put down. “we could go to one of our dorms. that way, we don’t have to worry about being interrupted.”
she winked, and itadori couldn't help but think just how unfair she was being. itadori's head-over-heels in love with her, and fushiguro knew all too well.

itadori nodded. “yeah, sure, that’d be great. i think mine is probably the closest, is that ok?”
“that’s perfect,” fushiguro cooed, kissing itadori again. she slipped her tongue in so effortlessly, draping her arms around her shoulders. god, when she’s this good, how could itadori possibly wait to get back to her place?

“just a little something to keep us down until we get to yours,” fushiguro said once she let go, quickly taking itadori’s hand in hers. “let’s get going, shall we?”
“yeah, just give me a second,” itadori replied, taking her phone out. she wanted nothing more than to feel fushiguro’s body on hers again, but maybe a warning would be nice.
