VIP Tickets

Summary:

Scott looks at him with… something Jimmy just can’t place. It isn’t anything bad, quite the opposite really, but it still sends a shiver down his spine. “Uh… why?”

He takes a step closer to Jimmy, slowly encroaching on his personal space. Jimmy finds that he doesn’t mind Scott close to him, despite how much he values his little bubble. “I’ll be honest, I’m still full of adrenaline from being on stage, and need to get it out somehow.”

—————
Or: Scott gives Jimmy backstage tickets to Gem and the Scott’s next big show.

Notes:

please do note that this is part of a series, but you don’t need to read the first part! it would just give a little bit more context!

Work Text:

“Jimmy!”

Scott’s voice catches his attention from across the room. Jimmy smiles and walks through the coffee shop, weaving between tables and people, making his way toward the blue haired man with a large grin on his face. He greets Scott once he makes it to the high-top table he’d picked out. “Scott, hi!”

Springing up out of his chair, Scott wraps his arms around Jimmy, pulling him into a tight hug. Jimmy happily returns the gesture. “It’s so good to see you!” Scott says as they pull away and sit down in their respective chairs, directly across from each other.

“It is! How have you been?”

The two have only been able to see each other a few times since they’d first met at the music festival two months ago. Gem and the Scotts had taken off and gained lots of popularity, new gigs and events keeping the man fairly busy.

Even though they couldn’t always see each other in person, they were able to communicate via their phones. They’d spent countless evenings texting each other late into the night, sometimes falling asleep on a call together, leaving Jimmy a completely dead phone battery in the morning. He never regretted it, though. Jimmy had learned so much about Scott over that time, and told Scott so much about himself.

“I’ve been great! We’ve been getting so many more opportunities lately!” He smiles brightly, clearly proud of his accomplishments.

Jimmy nods along as he continues speaking. “It’s been so amazing. Oh- I have something for you, by the way!”

“You do?” He tilts his head, confused. He didn’t bring anything to give Scott – did he miss some sort of memo? Thoughts turn in his mind as Scott reaches into his bag and digs around before pulling out three small slips of paper. He holds them out and allows Jimmy to take them.

VIP Tickets.

Before he gets a chance to say anything, Scott’s already started talking. “I got special backstage passes for you and your brothers! They’re for our next performance, which is also our biggest one yet, so I want you to be there.”

He examines the three tickets, making sure they’re real and not part of some prank. Jimmy doesn’t think Scott would actually do that, but living with Grian and Joel has made him incredibly paranoid. “Scott, oh my gosh, you didn’t have to do that!” He looks back up at Scott in awe, utterly amazed by the gift.

“No, but I wanted to.” Scott smiles, so sweet it gives Jimmy a few cavities.

“Thank you,” Jimmy replies breathlessly. “Really, this is amazing. Maybe now they’ll believe that you’re the real Scott!”

“They’d better.” The man laughs. They haven’t made anything official between them, not yet, but Jimmy already knows he wants something more than just casual flirting and conversations. Those are dangerous thoughts to have when it comes to someone rather famous, but he’s willing to put up with anything as long as he gets to have Scott.

“What the fuck.”

Grian stares down at the special ticket in his hands, blinking in shock. Jimmy crosses his arms triumphantly as Joel speaks up beside him. “Who did you kill to get these?”

“Nobody!” He snatches the tickets back before either of his brothers can somehow ruin them. “Scott gave them to me.”

“Jimmy, bud, you must be in crippling debt after buying these.” Grian says incredulously, not believing a word Jimmy says. It would be a lot more annoying if Jimmy wasn’t as used to it as he is. He knows how he got the tickets, and that’s all that really matters. Once they go to the show he’ll make Grian eat his words.

Joel nods along to this, sunglasses nearly falling off his face because he refuses to wear them properly. “I mean, as long as you didn’t spend my money, I’m fine with this.”

“No money was spent. I hope your schedules are cleared, boys!” He points at the two, shooting a glare at them with no real threat or fire behind it. “I don’t care how you think I got those tickets, you’re both going.”

“I wasn’t fighting it. Do we get free snacks?”

He’s… actually not too sure what backstage entirely entails.

Will he even get to see Scott? Does the backstage have seating, or bathrooms, or do they just stand around? Can they even see the stage from where they’ll be? He really should have asked a few clarifying questions when he was with Scott. Though, to be fair, he wasn’t really thinking ahead in that moment. He was much more focused on the insane gift Scott had given him. It can’t be easy to get VIP tickets for one person, let alone three.

The fact Scott had thought to get tickets for his brothers, who he hasn’t even met, sends butterflies through all of his organs and guts. Jimmy does his best to banish that thought as quickly as possible before Grian or Joel notice and tease him for it.

“I’m… not too sure.” He replies, trying to ignore the way Grian purposefully turns his face into a displeased one. “It’ll be cool either way. Don’t give me that look.”

“What look?” Grian asks, false innocence clear in his tone.

It’s annoying. But Grian is always annoying, and Jimmy’s used to his shenanigans, so he doesn’t pay it any more attention than he usually would. Joel has left the room by now, running off to who knows where – most likely Lizzie’s house. He’s always disappearing just to go hang out with his girlfriend.

Jimmy can understand it. He’d ditch his brothers in a heartbeat to see Scott.

That’s a joke. Mostly.

Also, Scott’s not his boyfriend, so he really shouldn’t be thinking like this right now. He stares down at Grian with an expression of disapprovement. “You know what look.”

Grian snickers and scurries off, leaving Jimmy in the metaphorical dust. Jimmy sighs affectionately and takes one last look at the tickets, making sure they’re real, then goes to fish his phone out of his pocket. He comes up emptyhanded, pockets completely barren.

“Grian!”

Getting backstage was quite the interesting experience.

With how strict and intimidating all of the security guards were, there must be a lot of people who try to sneak their way backstage.

Eventually the trio did manage to get to their destination, only a few minutes late. Unfortunately too late to wish Scott good luck, the man already on stage by the time Jimmy’s figured out where he is.

While Grian and Joel run around and cause problems for all of the staff, Jimmy stands off to the side and watches the performance. Scott mentioned it’s their biggest yet, and the sight of so many people cheering out in the crowd confirms that. He can’t see Scott perfectly, but it’s good enough for him to be content with it. The spotlights reflect off of the band beautifully, mixing with the special effects and other things happening on stage behind them.

Scott’s blue hair stands out perfectly. They’re all in their usual outfits, matching jackets and facepaint, Impulse with the yellow lightning bolt and Scott with the blue tears.

Jimmy tries to pay attention to the whole show, he really does, but Scott keeps pulling his focus away from it all. He performs so well and looks incredible while doing it; you can’t blame Jimmy for staring. Anyone with common sense would do the same, surely.

He gets startled out of his Scott-induced-trace by someone slinging their arm over his shoulder, nearly knocking him to the ground.

“You’re done for, lad.”

Blinking, he turns to see the arm belongs to Joel. It takes him a few seconds to realize exactly what the man means. Jimmy can feel his face flush pink when his mind finally figures out what Joel’s implying. “I’m- I’m not!”

“Jimmy, your eyes are basically hearts. You’re not hiding it from anyone.”

“What?!”

“Yeah, we all can tell. You’re not secret about your celebrity crush.”

“No you can’t!” Jimmy shouts so he can be heard over the loud music. “Also, not a celebrity crush!”

A few pats are given to his shoulders, obviously pity pats from Joel. “Whatever you want to tell yourself. Just don’t get too parasocial with him, okay?”

Jimmy can feel his eyes twitch. As much as he loves the two, they sure can be incredible nuisances. They’re both older than him, and Jimmy’s started to wonder if puberty just completely skipped them over to make Jimmy the smartest brother. It’s a theory he’s had for a while now. It would definitely explain quite a few things.

As if summoned by the sound of mockery, Grian appears on the other side of him, equally as ready to bother Jimmy.

“Tim, you’re so doomed.”

“Yeah, I know.”

He ignores all of the other teases they throw his way for the rest of the concert, much preferring to enjoy the show. The spotlights reflect off of the stage beautifully, practically making Scott glow.

Eventually it comes to an end, as all good things do. Gem and the Scotts bid their audience farewell, smiling brightly from their cheers of support.

Gem and Impulse come running from the stage, breathing heavily and sweating. Scott comes in right after with his facepaint partially smudged. He glances around the room until his eyes finally land on Jimmy, running straight towards the man and flinging himself into Jimmy’s arms. “Jimmy! You made it!”

Jimmy laughs and does his best to stay upright, catching Scott. “I did! We got lost, sorry for being late.”

“Oh!” Scott pulls away enough to look Jimmy in the eyes, but not far enough to disconnect the hug. “Your brothers! Hi!” He turns to look at Joel and Grian, who both have equally shocked expressions. Jimmy does his best to not look too smug.

“It’s nice to finally meet you two,” Scott continues, holding a hand out for them to shake.

Grian’s the first to recover from the surprise, reaching out and shaking the man’s hand. “You too. Uh, I’m Grian. This is Joel.”

Scott snickers at them, finding amusement in their reactions. “I’m Scott!” He says, as if they don’t already know him. Jimmy thinks it’s cute. “Jimmy’s told me all about you guys!”

“Alright, this has been great, if you're back here you’re helping clean up. I don’t care if you’re Scott’s boyfriend.” Gem suddenly butts into the conversation out of nowhere. They all nod, nobody wanting to get on her nerves. Scott doesn’t say anything about the boyfriend accusation, so Jimmy doesn’t either, despite how it sends his stomach into a frenzy of butterflies.

The group begins to disperse when Scott turns back to Jimmy. He finally detaches himself and steps back, smiling. “We should help. Gem might kill us if we don’t.”

“Yeah, probably.” Jimmy snickers.

Cleaning goes about as well as it can with Grian and Joel around. They drop a few bits of important equipment and get very lost, needing lots of instruction to find their way around, because none of the three brothers had managed to inherit any sense of direction.

At one point Scott hands him a large speaker and tells Jimmy to follow, so he does without question. He leads the two to a long, empty hallway before stopping abruptly, nearly making Jimmy topple over and drop the speaker. “Is this where the speaker goes?”

“No, Jimmy,” Scott turns around and giggles. “You can put that down. I just wanted to be alone with you.”

“Oh!” Jimmy does his best to set the heavy electronic device down without making too much noise.

The implications in his words make Jimmy blush profusely. He still allows Scott to take another step closer, now close enough that all he has to do is move a little bit for them to be touching. The air between them is so thick with tension that it could probably be cut with a knife, weighing heavy on his shoulders, but not necessarily in an unwanted way. He’s only a little bit taller than Scott, so the two are pretty much at eye level with each other.

“Can I… uh,” Jimmy manages to squeak out a few words with a sudden rush of confidence, only to waver mid sentence.

This makes Scott grin, tilting his head to the side. “Can you… what?”

With a deep breath, Jimmy decides to bite the bullet.

“...Can I kiss you, Scott?”

He gets his answer in the form of lips suddenly being pressed against his own.

Immediately, Jimmy does his best to kiss back. He can tell Scott is brimming with energy, adrenaline fueling his every move like logs to a fire. His arms wrap around Jimmy’s neck, pulling their chests flush against one another’s.

Jimmy’s hands move to Scott’s waist, holding him tightly. They break apart to regain air for mere seconds before going back in for more, Scott dragging Jimmy along until his back hits the wall. It’s full of emotion and pent up energy and multiple months worth of pining, both kissing as if it’s the last thing they’ll ever do. Jimmy’s mind doesn’t think, solely focused on the man he’s pressing against the cold wall. His thumbs slip under Scott’s shirt, rubbing the bare skin, making Scott shiver against him.

Once they part for air again, Jimmy begins leaving light kisses on Scott’s jawline, smiling when the man’s breath hitches. He moves onto Scott’s neck, trailing down as far as Scott’s shirt allows him. Jimmy revels in the small noises he manages to get Scott to make, quiet whines and whispers of Jimmy’s name. It’s like music to his ears.

When he’s satisfied, he pulls away to take in the mess he’d made of Scott. His face is pink against his blue hair, panting heavily. His pupils are dilated when Jimmy looks into them.

The two stare at each other for a moment, unsure what to do next.

Scott pulls him in again by the collar of his shirt, though this time it’s much less rough. It’s passionate and filled with love and care, one of Scott’s hands cupping Jimmy’s cheek while the other runs through his hair. Wherever they’re physically touching, he feels as if the skin is on fire, goosebumps covering his skin. They separate for a final time, but leave barely any space between their lips, staring into each other’s eyes.

Jimmy can’t help but smile. He can feel Scott mirror the expression, eyes wrinkling around the edges. Scott begins to laugh quietly and Jimmy does the same until they’ve both devolved into fits of love-drunk giggles.

Taking a step back, Jimmy pulls Scott up off of the wall and into a tight hug. He can feel Scott’s heart beating against his, breathing in sync, and thinks this is the most content he’s felt in a while. He’s not sure how long they stay like that, holding on as if their lives depend on it, but it’s long enough for his phone to buzz in his pocket.

He retracts one arm from the hug to grab it, quietly snickering at Scott’s whine from the loss of warmth.

Clicking his phone on, he sees a few messages in the bad boys group chat. Jimmy sighs as he reads them, mostly containing Joel and Grian yelling about his disappearance. “We should go.” He says reluctantly, not wanting to break the calm atmosphere.

“Yeah, probably.” Scott replies, not attempting to move whatsoever.

Jimmy smiles and puts his phone back in his pocket, then wraps that arm back around Scott’s waist. “We can stay a few more minutes, the boys won’t mind.”

They definitely will mind, but that’s a sacrifice Jimmy’s willing to make if it means more time with Scott.

“Alright,” Scott replies, pulling Jimmy into another kiss.
