It's us against the world (and the world is far too cruel)

Summary:

Bad is a bit of a mystery to Pangi. But it’s been them against the world for a long time running, and Pangi trusts the demon.

“Try not to think too hard,” Bad says, voice a mix of wisdom and amusement. “I’ve seen a lot of people meet their end that way.”

Or,

Pangi and Bad- a character study.

Work Text:

“Is there a right side of history?”

Pangi’s voice rings out across the Green Faction’s castle. It’s a genuine question.

In Pangi’s own experience, there’s never really been a right side of history. There’s just been death. Death and broken promises and fractured bonds.

“If there is one, we’re not on it,” Bad says with a slight laugh. The demon is sorting through some chests nearby.

Pangi himself is sitting on the roof of one of the houses inside of the large courtyard. It’s a good place to think. To remember. And recently- to try to forget.

“But Yellow aren’t necessarily the good guys either, are they,” Pangi muses.

He tilts his head to the night sky. He likes the stars.

It’s something that he’s discovered during his time on the realm.

The stars remind him of just how big the universe is. Of how many possibilities lie within it. When he stares up at the sky- he feels small. It’s a quiet reminder that he is just a tiny thread in the tapestry of time and fate.

There is the sound of a rocket going off from behind him, but Pangi doesn’t draw his axe.

Sure enough, Bad comes to sit beside Pangi. And Pangi knows that, at least for a while, he has nothing to fear from BadBoyHalo.

“Thinking a lot, aren’t you,” Bad says quietly.

Pangi turns his head to look Bad in the eyes. He shrugs slightly, because Bad is right. This isn’t really a normal activity for Pangi.

“There’s a lot to think about,” he responds, fingers tapping along the hilt of his axe. Bad nods his head in agreement.

Bad is a bit of a mystery to Pangi. But it’s been them against the world for a long time running, and Pangi trusts the demon.

“Try not to think too hard,” Bad says, voice a mix of wisdom and amusement. “I’ve seen a lot of people meet their end that way.”

Pangi smiles bitterly.

“Yeah. I have too.”

Bad hums thoughtfully, but no more is said.

No more needs to be said.

Because at the end of the day, they’re just Pangi and Bad. Two people who’ve never quite been on the right side of history, and two people who’ve never lived in a world where there is one.
