The first time Yoongi saw Seokjin cry was because the guy was cutting some onions one night for their dinner. Yoongi was seating on the couch in the living room and Seokjin was in the kitchen of course. Namjoon just arrived from his evening class and looked for Seokjin immediately for food.
Yoongi, Seokjin, along with Namjoon are housemates. They share in living in an apartment near the university they're studying in. First it was only Yoongi and Seokjin during freshman year until a year later Namjoon showed up. Now the two eldest are now senior students while Namjoon is a junior.
Going back...
"You okay now, hyung?" He heard Namjoon from the kitchen so he made a beeline to where the two was to know what's up.
Yoongi's not as heartless he seems and he secretly cares for his housemates. He stood there silently by the doorway and saw Namjoon standing in front of Seokjin, wiping the older guy's tears from his pretty face with Namjoon's thumb. Seokjin isn't a crybaby and if maybe he is, he makes sure no one else sees him do so. Except for times like these, they’re inescapable.
"Y-yeah Joon-ah." Seokjin stuttered, eyes off of Namjoon. "Just cutting some onions, you see." Namjoon patted his head next and Seokjin freed an awkward laugh.
Yoongi returned to his seat then. He was quite shock that he saw Seokjin in tears and not because Seokjin and Namjoon looked so close. Yoongi’s sure his eyes weren’t playing jokes on him, he definitely saw Seokjin’s cheeks turn pink and ears bright red.
If Seokjin thought that he was keen enough that his little (now not anymore) crush towards Namjoon was a secret, then he thought wrong because Yoongi knows ever since Namjoon first showed up in their apartment.
But he didn't say anything. He kept it in himself. Even the butterflies.
The second time Yoongi saw Seokjin crying was when the older was cutting onions while wearing one of Namjoon’s shades (to protect his eyes) and he accidentally cut his finger (he weren’t able to protect his finger, apparently). They ended up with bloody onions, shrieking Seokjin, flustered Namjoon, and a headache for Yoongi. Yoongi treated Seokjin's wounds after a good ten minutes. It would be a bad idea for Namjoon to treat Seokjin’s wound because Seokjin might end up in the hospital and no one wants that.
Especially Yoongi.
Today's the third time Yoongi saw Seokjin cry.
Seokjin is in the kitchen as usual and Yoongi's in the living room watching television. Namjoon arrived near seven in the evening.
"Hyungs?" Namjoon calls out. Yoongi turns to him and saw another man. A short guy with chubby cheeks and a cute pair of crescent eyes. "I would like to introduce you to someone."
"I'm in the kitchen!" Seokjin responds. Namjoon and the cute guy looks over to the direction of Seokjin's voice. The next thing that happened is now they're all inside the kitchen after Namjoon gestures Yoongi to follow.
Yoongi stands by the doorway, Namjoon and the cute guy seating on the dining chairs facing Seokjin. Seokjin's still cutting some stuffs on the counter and motioned Namjoon to continue coz he'll be listening even if he's doing something.
"Hyungs, He's Jimin. Jimin, they're hyungs. Seokjin-hyung is that pretty man by the counter while Yoongi-hyung is that grumpy man by the doorway of the kitchen." Namjoon introduces, breaking out into a shy smile. They all greeted each other. Jimin giving them his adorable eye smile and Seokjin almost melt if not because of his burning cheeks from Namjoon's compliment. Yoongi just nodded and waved a hand. "And he's my boyfriend."
The room fell silent after those words. Seokjin gasped in shock and stopped chopping. Yoongi definitely knew this isn't good news (at least for Seokjin it isn't). He eyed the three guys in the room. Mostly Seokjin to Namjoon and Namjoon to Seokjin.
And Yoongi swears those are tears slowly dripping from Seokjin's eyes. His heart clenches. Seeing the one he likes hurting from an unrequited love (funny, yes).
"Seokjin-hyung? Are you crying?" Namjoon's voice felt warm and tone hinted with worry. Even Jimin is worried. Why would Seokjin suddenly cry when his favorite dongsaeng is happily in a relationship? Ha ha
Yoongi did the best he can in the moment. He walks over to Seokjin and grabs the knife he was holding and places it on the counter top. He pushes Seokjin towards the sink, both backs facing the couple.
"I told you hyung to be careful while chopping onions." Yoongi scolds, flicking his tongue in exaggeration and making sure his voice is loud enough for the two to fathom. "Now you're crying again."
Yoongi opens the tap and washes Seokjin's hands with water and soap. He looks up a bit too see Seokjin's face and if Yoongi's heart could shatter more… then it would probably have. His poor hyung silently crying his eyes out.
Namjoon spoke up and ask if Seokjin's okay. Seokjin nodded furiously. He's sure his voice will fail him in the process of saying a simple yes so he just hummed.
Thank Heavens they're standing back from the two because Seokjin definitely doesn't look like he's crying because of chopping onions. Yoongi turns to the two and asked them to leave for a moment.
"Uhm Namjoonie and... Jimin-ssi? You guys wait in the living room and watch some movie while I help Seokjin-hyung with the dinner."
The two did not pry any longer and told them to be careful as they went on their way to the living room. Yoongi sighs in relief and shakes his head in disbelief. He eyed the unfinished carrots on the chopping board for a second before standing behind Seokjin.
"Seriously hyung?” Seokjin stood still, hands on his face and still crying. "Crying because you cut some carrots?” Yoongi jokes, voice soft and comforting.
And then Yoongi back hugs Seokjin. Tears now also escaping his eyes.
