Work Text:

There was a lot that could be said about the borderline strife that had formed between Slade and Alex ever since the scientist had been hired on. It was weird to consider, but all it took was for Waller to make it sound like Alex was more capable than him for Slade to turn on him. He hated the idea that he could be replaced by some nerd in a lab coat. He hated the idea that he could be replaced by some robot. He was better than that. He deserved to be respected, but instead of that, he was criticized for an incident he had no control over. He sometimes wished Ivo had taken the bitch out, but he knew he couldn't admit that out loud, so he took his frustrations out on the scientist, who he had shifted the blame to. Slade knew that Alex wasn't to blame, but with how he acted, he sometimes deserved what he received. It has become common for Slade to tease Alex whenever he has the chance to. It didn't matter if it was childish insults or words that could cut into the thickest of skin. He said whatever he knew would hurt or at least irritate the man.

It should be noted that Slade liked to be creative with his insults, so this time around he focused his attention on how Alex looked. He had spent the last ten minutes picking apart his appearance with a series of constant insults for each little detail about him. It could be said that his insults were childish in nature, but he knew from the look Alex held that it worked. He was still hurt. It made him feel better about himself in a sense, so he didn't cease.

“I know that you want to pull off the hot librarian look, but you don't have the ass for it.” Slade mentioned as he leaned on the man's desk, not missing how he refused to look at him. “I know that you're blind, but it doesn't take an hour to read a weapon request from. You can't be both blind and deaf. Pick a struggle and answer me. I know that you can hear me.”

“You are an absolute child.” Alex muttered as he tried to focus on his work, unable to hide his overall irritation for the situation. “You could at least be creative with these. I've heard these insults about half a dozen times—”

However, before Alex had the chance to finish his statement, Slade snatched his glasses from his face. It was the kind of childishness Alex never expected the man to lower himself to, and while he could have handled it if it had been someone else, there was a part of Alex that worried that Slade would break them. He didn't have a spare pair on him, and he was a bit more blind than he liked to talk about. It was a situation that made him feel vulnerable, and he hated it. He hated Slade, and he wanted him to leave him alone. He didn't understand what his issue was. It wasn't like he had shown him up on purpose. It had been an accident. He needed to be apart of this organization.

“You can't just come in here and take my glasses.” Alex reasoned with his frustration more than a bit clear, deciding to take a different approach before the situation became hostile. “I know that I bruised your ego a bit when we met, but—”

“Have you ever considered contacts?” Slade interrupted with a sense of interest, unable to miss how the other man reached out to find him. “I have to admit that I prefer you with the glasses on, but there's a certain appeal when you have them off.”

“I think that counts as sexual harassment.” Alex noted as he felt the other man move closer, reaching out only to make contact with him. “Wilson—”

“You can't see me at all, can you?” Slade questioned as he let the other man feel him up, having made his decision before he continued. “Don't make a sound, or I'll break them.”

From there, Slade kissed the scientist, which had Alex stunned. He wasn't sure what the man was about to do, but that didn't even make the list. He sat there after the kiss ended. He needed a moment to process the situation. Slade, on the other hand, didn't, and he returned his glasses, which let him see again. He had a smile on his face too. It had him in an absolute crisis.

“Not a thank you?” Slade questioned when the other man continued to stare at him, unable to miss the subtle hint of pink that bloomed on his face. “Next time I'll bend you over the desk.”
