Work Text:
Buck sets a plate of freshly glazed ricotta cookies down on the already-stuffed desserts table and leans back to examine his handiwork. They look nearly perfect, but there's just a little something missing. It's probably going to bother him all night.
"Hey, those look great," Tommy says, leaning in over Buck's shoulder. "Oh, is that my nonna's recipe?"
"Here, I'm nominating you my taste tester." Buck picks up one of the cookies and turns, flying it toward Tommy's mouth like an airplane- or helicopter, in Tommy's case.
Tommy laughs and allows Buck to stuff the cookie into his mouth. Crumbs dribble down his chin and Buck leans in to thumb away some of the crumbs and sprinkles.
"How is it?" he asks.
"It's perfect," Tommy says, swiping crumbly bits of cookie off his cheek and into his mouth.
Tommy leaves behind a streak of glaze on the corner of his mouth that taunts Buck cruelly. He leans in without thinking and nudges his lips against Tommy's mouth. He tastes cookie and icing, and a mental photobook of warm, pleasant memories floods his brain.
Tommy goes completely still against him. "Evan?"
Buck leans back, his heart thundering in his ears. "I wasn't thinking." He laughs nervously. "Sorry. I know we're not. Uh."
"It's okay," Tommy assures him, offering him a small, almost shy smile. "I almost didn't show up today."
"I'm glad you did," Buck says.
Tommy's eyes flick over Buck's face and he seems to come to a decision, the hinge of his jaw tensing for just a moment as he swallows. "So am I," Tommy says, before leaning back in and catching Buck's mouth in a deeper, still just as sweet kiss.
