Work Text:

It was a long day, and their previous plans for the evening had been thrown out in favor of cuddling.

Jay was sitting up as Tim’s head was resting on his shoulder, and arms wrapped around his stomach. Jay was rubbing circles on the shorter man’s back, staring down at his arm.

”You know,” Tim looked up at Jay, “All of your scars are really pretty.” Tim smiled, watching the way Jay’s eyes were practically sparkling as he looked down at his arm.

”Really?” Jay looked over at Tim, a smile engraving its way onto his face.

”Really. Like, look.” Jay looked back at Tim’s arm, causing Tim to look at where Jay was pointing. It was a large scar that spread from the middle of Tim’s forearm to the base of his hand.

”What’s so special about it?” Tim questioned, remembering how badly it hurt when Alex had sliced open his arm with a pocket knife as he was trying to defend himself.

”Well, I remember the way it healed,” Jay paused, “I had bandaged it up for you, I never thought it would heal but it did. I think it just goes to show how strong you are.” Tim looked back up at Jay to see that Jay was already looking at him. Jay’s chest was filled with so much love for Tim, he didn’t even care about how creepy his observation sounded, he just wanted Tim to know.

”You’ve thought that much about a scar on my arm?”

“Haven’t you?” Tim paused for a moment, looking at Jay’s face. There was a scar that was on Jay’s cheek that Tim thought made his eyes pop out even more. Tim reached up with his hand to the scar.

”This one.” Jay glanced down at Tim’s hand, even as it landed back onto his stomach. He took a breath before looking back into Tim’s eyes.

”What about it?” Jay asked, slightly cocking his head.

”It brings out the color in your eyes. I’ve always noticed it, that’s the only thing I remember about meeting you in college.” Jay blushed, looking down at the scar on Tim’s arm. He gently ran his fingers along it as he spoke.

”I… uh… when I was little, I was playing with Alex when I fell on the ground and scraped my face on a rock. Hurt like a bitch, and bled like crazy,” Jay chuckled at the memory before continuing, “Alex just helped me up and ran to my mom as I cried and tried to wipe the blood off of my face. Obviously, it didn’t work, but I still tried regardless.” Jay looked back up at Tim. He was looking at Jay with an expression that could outshine even the brightest of stars, and Jay knew that. He knew that all of the parts of Tim, especially his scars, were good parts; they were all the best parts of him.

“What happened after that?” Tim asked, gently reaching up and running his thumb along the scar.

”Went to the hospital, had to get it stitched. That’s about it.” Jay smiled as Tim’s hand fell back onto his stomach.

”I think I like it even more now.” Tim stated before looking away from Jay, further cuddling into his side.

”You say that like it’s an interesting story.” Tim chuckled, the sound reverberating against Jay’s ribcage.

”Because everything about you is interesting, Merrick.” Jay smiled, running his hand through Tim’s hair.

Tim fell asleep against Jay’s side like that, leaving Jay to sit there, gently running his hand along all of the scars that were sprinkled on Tim’s arm.
