Hello! This is just a brief summary of what I intend to do with this writing.
I love Stranger Things. I love the characters, and I love the depth, and I'm very invested in the overall world building and the lore that's available in this universe. However, I feel as if many of the characters have been written very poorly, or their possible character-depth has been held out until the last minute to be fleshed out and delved upon. I feel as though this is an injustice to the characters that we have come to know and love. If love and hope is the way of defeating Vecna, of uplifting minorities as they claimed they would... why diminish this hope? Why add a space for queer people, for black people, for women, for people with disabilities- why add a space for them to be ridiculed? Why can't queer people have love- why can't they be happy? Why can't black people have their own development outside of a love interest? Why must people with disabilities only be referenced when it's for plot, or for them to be bullied? Depression doesn't go away, fear doesn't just go away, and they deserve better.
I love Stranger Things, but I feel defeated that these characters were written by the Duffer Brothers, and that they will never truly get the writing they deserve, even in the finale. Too much time lost, too much isolation- it's defeating to know.
So, here I am!!
Please leave comments on things you would prefer to have added, or on big plot holes. I have a good idea on things I will clear up and add, but I do want your opinions too so I know a broader idea of what people are looking forward to and disappointed on.
Oh yeah, and Byler endgame. As it should have been.
This will be focused on mainly Mike and Will, so the point of views will swap between them primarily. We will of course also get El, Lucas, Dustin, Max, etc as they become involved, but most of what will be written will be from Mike or Will's point of view, just because. That's what I want to write. I am also adding in my own bits of lore, or things I think should have been done differently. I'm not a big fan of the canon ideas they went with, so the theories I like are what's going to be added, and delved upon. Lots of what Will went through in the upside down, what Max went through in Vecna's mind, what happened during seasons that we never saw, etc. So bear that in mind!
