Work Text:

Pyro glances around, walking out of town towards the forest. Scott had left a note for him with Apo when he was out with Abolish earlier.

He wasn’t looking forward to meeting with Scott again so soon.

The bite mark had mostly scabbed over by now, but Pyro knew that he would have to replace the bandages.

There was no way Scott wasn’t hungry. Pyro had seen the look in his eyes earlier in the town when Avid accused them of working together. Pyro wasn't particularly fond of Avid, but he didn’t want the man to be drained because Pyro didn't let Scott feed from him.

Water sloshes under Pyro's boots as he walks through the lake, glancing around the obelisk, the hair on his arms standing on end at returning to the place he was attacked.

“Scott?” He calls, his eyes darting around the surrounding forest. “Are you here?”

Pyro steps forward, ignoring the shake in his hands as he searches around for Scott. The vampire had told him to meet him here, but he hadn't specified a time.

“Scott?”

Maybe they were too early. With a shaky breath out, Pyro turns back around to the forest.

“And where do you think you’re going, firelight?”

Pyro jumps out of their skin, stumbling backwards in their sudden fright. They press their hand over their heart, which pounds hard and fast in their chest.

Scott looks down at them, tilting his head as he watches them catch their breath.

They suck in air, trying to ease the panic that had started up at the scare. “Scott. You– you startled me.”

Scott hums flatly, walking over to them in quick succession. Pyro takes a step back before forcing their body to still. The instinct to run thrums in their veins.

They swallow hard when Scott lifts their chin. The air around him feels dangerous.

“Scott…?”

“I asked you a question, Pyro.”

Pyro frowns nervously, his lips twitching. “I thought I might have been early. I was going to try and find you.”

Scott's eyes narrow and he sighs, dropping his hand before turning away. “I'm sure.”

Pyro shifts anxiously in place, dread slowly washing over them.

Something clearly wasn't right.

Pyro lifts his hand to the bandages around his neck, hesitating before pulling them down.

He takes a step towards Scott, pausing about a foot away. He winces as Scott glances back at him, his glowing eyes cold as ice.

“...Are you going to feed from me? Is that why you called me out here?”

Scott's eyes narrow again, his gaze flicking briefly down to Pyro's throat. “I called you out here because I don't think you understand our deal.”

Pyro flinches, backing away quickly despite having been the one to breach the distance. “What do you mean?”

Did Scott know what he said to Abolish?

“I know everything, firelight.” Scott follows Pyro's retreat. “Did you think I wouldn't be there?”

Pyro's eyes dart from Scott to the ground, that guilty feeling growing along with the pounding terror building inside them. “I– you weren't there…?”

It isn't what they mean to say, and it isn't the right thing to say, as Scott scowls. “I'm always there, Pyro.”

Pyro squeezes their eyes shut, trying to back away more from Scott's ire, only to have their back hit the obelisk. It's such a similar position to the one from that night that Pyro finds themself wincing.

When Scott lifts his hand towards Pyro, they shrink into themself as much as they can. They pray that as long as they make themself small and clear they're not a threat, Scott won't hurt them.

Scott's threat from earlier echoes in their ears. He said he would kill them if they told anyone, and they had told someone.

A whimper escapes their lips when Scott's sharp claws trace over the mark on their throat.

Would Scott make it fast? He didn't seem the type to show mercy.

“Oh, firelight.” Scott coos, his voice sickly sweet.

“Please don't do this.. I– I made a mistake. I wouldn't do it again!”

Scott hums flatly, his nails pressing against Pyro's pulse. “I'm afraid it's a little too late for that. I'm going to have to leave town.”

Pyro's eyes shoot open, his chest feeling like it's collapsing on itself with how quickly he's breathing. His breath stutters as it escapes, his heart racing like he's run a mile.

“I–”

“Shush.” Scott orders.

Pyro's mouth shuts with a click at the command.

Scott's expression softens, disappointment clear on his face. “I'm not going to kill you for this, Pyro.”

Pyro swallows hard. “...You're not? But you said–”

“I’m saying now that I understand, firelight. I'm upset with you, but I know you didn't really mean it, right?”

They nod along quickly, their hands trembling by their sides.

Scott offers them a small smile. “I know. You're just confused, aren't you? You've never had someone show interest in you before.”

He whispers against their skin, the words sending a shiver through Pyro's frame. “I'll fix that for you, firelight.”

Scott tilts their head up, smirking as he brings them into a kiss. Pyro lets it happen, at first too afraid to try and pull away, then melting into the feeling of affection. All thoughts dissipate as Scott explores their mouth. They gasp as Scott's icy hand slips underneath their shirt, pressing against their waist.

It's almost unfair how good it feels.

Scott nips at their bottom lip, his fang catching on the soft skin, splitting it open. Pyro winces, the metallic taste of blood coating their tongue. When Scott pulls away from their mouth, he presses a bloody kiss to their jaw.

Pyro pants quietly, trying to regain their breath as Scott wraps his arm around their lower back. He pulls Pyro against his chest until there are only inches between them.

“I might be forgiving you for this,” Scott says, wiping the blood from Pyro's face with the pad of his thumb. He licks it off, smiling flatly. “But I think we need something more to ensure you don't stray from where you're meant to be.”

Pyro pulls their stare from Scott's lips to meet his eyes nervously.

Scott coos, twirling a lock of their hair. “Don't look so afraid, firelight. I'm not going to hurt you. Do I look angry?”

Pyro shakes their head, voice coming out more unsteady than they would have liked.

“What do you want me to do?”

Scott lifts his wrist up, slicing the thin skin of his wrist. Dark black blood bubbles up from the cut.

Pyro looks between the wound and Scott. “What do–?”

Scott interrupts their inquiry, pressing his wrist to Pyro's lips. They wince at the bitter taste as it settles in their mouth. They try to pull back instinctively, but Scott holds their head in place.

“Swallow. It won't hurt you.”

Pyro hesitates for only a second before he obeys, trying to ignore the awful sensation as the thick blood slides down his throat.

Scott smiles pleasantly at his compliance, pulling his wrist away once he's decided Pyro's had enough.

As soon as the cut meets open air, it starts to knit itself back together, pristine skin replacing the damaged area.

Pyro looks back up at Scott, a question on his tongue he feels almost too afraid to ask.

Scott notices, smiling brighter now. “You don't need to worry, Pyro. This just means I've claimed you.”

Pyro's eyes widen. “Claimed me?”

Scott's eyes crease. “Exactly. It means I'm choosing you. Remember what I said before?”

Scott doesn't wait for Pyro to answer, leaning in again against his ear.

“I need you.”

Need.

Scott needed him.

“The other humans don't understand, but you do, don't you? This doesn't have to hurt. Not as long as we help each other out.”

Pyro finds himself nodding along. “I can help.”

Scott's eyes gleam. “I know you can. That's why you're going to come with me, right?”

Pyro blinks. “Come with you?”

“If I'm leaving town, you have to come with me, firelight.”

Pyro bites the inside of his cheek, taking a step back. Scott lets him, releasing his hold on Pyro's waist.

Scott tilts his head. “You wouldn't try to leave me now, would you?”

Pyro shakes his head.

“...I'll come with you.”

Scott grins.

“Perfect.”
