Harris Drover @hdroverottawa: Okay lovely people of Twitter I am arriving at Shane and Ilya’s house. I have limited replies on this thread for what I think are obvious reasons, but please follow here if you’d like to see all my thoughts on the hockey wedding of the century #hollanovwedding

Harris Drover @hdroverottawa: When I was told “not fancy, just us standing in our backyard” I was under the impression the grooms would be the ones standing, not me
Harris Drover @hdroverottawa: Troy and I have claimed seats at the patio table
Harris Drover @hdroverottawa: Scott Hunter and Kip Grady have arrived. They are sitting with us at the patio table. There are two seats left.
Harris Drover @hdroverottawa: I see a lot of people wondering who is letting people in if the grooms are not here yet. The answer is Wyatt Hayes and Ryan Price. Wyatt claimed this duty several weeks ago and I am told he recruited Ryan as well.
Harris Drover @hdroverottawa: The final two seats have been claimed by Zane and Cassie Boodram
Harris Drover @hdroverottawa: There is a second set of chairs around the fire pit. Currently no one is sitting over there. I shall keep you updated on who does.

Harris Drover @hdroverottawa: Okay back to my regularly scheduled updates about the chair situation. Rose took one of the fire pit chairs, as did Svetlana Vetrova, who is a friend of Roz’s.

Harris Drover @hdroverottawa: Okay people are really starting to arrive now. I hear Roz invited an entire groupchat of hockey players to attend this (same groupchat that wanted live tweeting, hi guys 👋) so there are a good number of non-Cens players too

Harris Drover @hdroverottawa: But enough about my theoretical future wedding (and yes I do mean theoretical, please don’t speculate) and back to the actual wedding I am attending
Harris Drover @hdroverottawa: I think everyone is here now. We are waiting for Shane to come down. I am told his mom is insisting he waits to see Ilya until the actual ceremony begins. I guess they are honoring one traditional element of a wedding at least.

Harris Drover @hdroverottawa: Sorry for being slow to update but they are now officially married! I cried. They cried. Shane’s parents cried. Hayden Pike cried and then tried to convince me afterwards that it was because he’s now stuck with Ilya for life. Other people probably cried too that’s just who I knew about.
Harris Drover @hdroverottawa: They are officially signing the necessary papers now, and I’ve taken up the role of DJ because Dykstra was threatening to do it and no one deserves that on their wedding day.
Harris Drover @hdroverottawa: The catering they got for this is excellent. I will have to drop the name of the place if I can find it, highly recommend.
Harris Drover @hdroverottawa: Turns out they have three different caterers! Ilya told me they wanted to have cuisine from both of their cultures so they have food from Katerina’s Kitchen which serves Russian food, Azuki which has provided traditional Japanese dishes, and Chez Lutien for Canadian fare.
Harris Drover @hdroverottawa: Also for some reason there are McGriddles from McDonalds. I can only assume this is an inside joke.
Harris Drover @hdroverottawa: There is also an “open bar”. By this I mean there are coolers full of most kinds of bottled alcohol in large quantities.
Harris Drover @hdroverottawa: I should note that since there are no chairs Yuna Hollander brought out picnic blankets and everyone is just picnicking on the ground
Harris Drover @hdroverottawa: I am currently picnicking with Cliff Marlow and Ben Taylor as well as The Trio (Bergy/LP/Young)

Harris Drover @hdroverottawa: Rose Landry is at the only table with the Hollander parents, Coach Wiebe and his wife Emily, and Svetlana Vetrova.
Harris Drover @hdroverottawa: I don’t know if I should be using people’s full names while doing this. Both ways felt weird when I was typing them since I’m not necessarily on a first name basis with most of these people and I don’t know if you guys will know who I’m talking about if I don't
Harris Drover @hdroverottawa: I just met Jackie Pike. I wish she lived in Ottawa so I could invite her to wine night with my friends. She’d fit right in.
Harris Drover @hdroverottawa: This is the first time I’ve seen the grooms separate since they tied the knot. Shane is talking to his mother. Ilya is holding court with the Pike children. It is very cute.

Harris Drover @hdroverottawa: On the plus side I met Kip Grady (Scott Hunter’s husband in case anyone doesn’t know) and he was also lovely. We are starting a HABs chat. It’s just the two of us. Any other hockey players with secret HABs please reach out. It being the two of us is sad.
Harris Drover @hdroverottawa: Nevermind somehow Ilya overheard that conversation and is already pestering me asking to be added. Kip and I are deciding if he counts as a HAB since he’s also a player. Shane has no interest in being added.
Harris Drover @hdroverottawa: Forgot to say this earlier but someone strung up lights in the backyard and they are beautiful. Really adds to the atmosphere. I would wonder if they hung them for the wedding but that would require a level of planning that I have not seen for anything except the catering.

Harris Drover @hdroverottawa: The lights were courtesy of Yuna Hollander and they were not hung for this wedding. Also is this a good time to mention I am in awe of Yuna Hollander. She took a great hockey player and turned him into a household name.
