Work Text:
Crowley rubbed the bridge of his nose.
“Are you kidding me?”
“Not at all, Mr Crowley!” Muriel, Aziraphale’s bookshop assistant, said. “I think he may have been poisoned.”
“What? How?” Crowley frowned.
“I think he ate a piece of fruit before he fell asleep.”
“You’ve checked that he’s asleep and not… not…”
“Oh, Mr Fell is alive! He’s breathing and has a heartbeat,” Muriel smiled widely. “But obviously he’s asleep and I couldn’t wake him up which is why I called you.”
“But who the fuck would want to poison him?” Crowley said, kneeling next to the sofa and placing his hand an inch away from Aziraphale’s lips. Aziraphale was breathing and he did have a pulse on his wrist. “Was there someone else in the shop?”
“Witches,” Muriel nodded solemnly. “They cackled and everything. They said the antidote for the poison was the traditional way.”
There were few witches Crowley was acquainted with and both of them were meddlesome troublemakers. Crowley pulled out his phone and called Anathema, still holding Aziraphale’s hand. The omega lying on the sofa was warm to the touch but Crowley was worried about him being so still.
“Hey, you wouldn’t happen to know anything about Aziraphale being poisoned by witches?” Crowley said.
Anathema’s laugh from the other end did sound a lot like a cackle.
“Why’d you suspect me?” Anathema said. “Have you tried the most traditional antidote in a book?”
“And what would that be?”
Anathema tsk’d.
“I think you know,” Anathema said. “Oh no, I got to run. See you later!”
Crowley cursed aloud and immediately called Madame Tracy.
“Hello, darling. How are you doing?” she answered the call with an entirely too bright voice.
“How do I wake him up?” Crowley asked.
“You mean your best friend and not so secret crush?” Tracy asked. “Mmm, let me think. How would a dashing alpha prince wake up the sleeping omega princess in fairy tales?”
“I’m not a prince and he’s definitely not a princess,” Crowley insisted, a shudder running through his body.
“Maybe not, but a True Love’s Kiss will work miracles in such cases,” Tracy said.
“Somnophilia? Really?” Crowley asked, unimpressed. “Kissing people without their consent?”
“To save them!” Tracy said. “Do you really think your Angel wouldn’t want to kiss you if he was awake?”
That was the question Crowley had been thinking lately. As much as people frowned upon such a close friendship between an unmated omega and an unmated alpha, Aziraphale was his best friend. Just because Crowley had feelings for him didn’t mean Aziraphale would like to kiss him back.
Then again saving Aziraphale from tricky situations was what Crowley did.
“Is there really no other solution?” Crowley asked.
“Not an easy one. If you’d rather fly to Madagascar to collect a rare herb that might awaken someone from their deep magical sleep…”
Crowley looked at Aziraphale’s face.
If he could save Aziraphale one more time, make him awake and safe even if he’d lose his friendship in the process, wouldn’t it be worth it?
“Okay,” Crowley put his phone on speaker and on the table. He leaned over Aziraphale and touched the soft curls framing his handsome face. “Here goes nothing.”
Aziraphale’s lips were cool and dry against his, but Crowley moved his mouth, his heart beating hard in his chest. Seconds passed without any change until—
Aziraphale drew a deep breath and opened his eyes. He blinked for a moment, trying to take in the scene, until a smile spread on his face and he pulled Crowley down into another kiss.
“Muriel,” Tracy’s voice said from Crowley’s phone. “Would you be a dear and end the call? Leave the shop and give them some privacy. I have a feeling they must talk… among other things.”
“Yes,” Muriel said and pressed a button to end the call. After a minute the front door clicked open and shut.
“Crowley, should we talk about this?” Aziraphale asked, breathing hard under Crowley.
“We should,” Crowley pulled back. “Just because I awakened you with a True Love’s Kiss—”
“Wait. Do you mean it?” Aziraphale asked.
“Yeah,” Crowley shrugged. “That’s what Tracy said—”
Crowley found himself flipped on his back on the sofa, with Aziraphale on top of him.
“Fuck it,” his Angel said, and Crowley shuddered at the curse word. “I love you too. We can talk later.”
Aziraphale kissed him hard, and Crowley immediately forgot what he had been about to say. It must’ve not been that important anyway.
