Owen did not know how to take care of fledglings because he never had any, and now he was stuck with three bats just sleeping on him and no idea what to do. Scott just decided to leave and not even tell him when he was coming back. Owen understood that he needed to go get blood for the fledglings but at least a warning would be appreciated. But no, he just woke up with the three bats cuddled up to him in sleep and Scott gone. But even he had to admit that they were pretty adorable with their little snouts and tiny black eyes.
After a while of Owen just admiring the fledglings they started to stir and wake up. Great, now he actually had to take care of them.
It was Pyro who was the first to actually open their little eyes and look straight at Owen and, even if he didn't want to admit it, he absolutely melted. They saved and turned them only a day ago but he already loved them like his children.
They cuddled for a bit after they all woke up but Owen could see that they were starting to get bored. And that's when the idea came to mind, they could go flying! It was easily his favourite thing to do as a vampire and he also felt like it brought him closer to Louis, because before the incident they would go flying almost every night, maybe the fledglings will like it too!
They all seemed really excited about the idea, so Owen quickly wrote a note letting Scott know that they were leaving so he wouldn't think somebody got them and then they went on the roof.
Scott already taught the fledglings how to fly the day before so he just quickly transformed and flew up. Soon enough they were flying around him.
Avid was still a bit scared of the height so he kept close to Owen but Shelby and Pyro absolutely loved it and were even trying some tricks and backflips in the air. Owen just watched them with fondness in his eyes.
After a bit the fledglings were all tired from the flying so they decided to fly back. They got in through the window and saw Scott already there putting raw steaks and blood on the table. After the fledglings noticed Scott they immediately flew over to him and clung to his clothes while chirping happily.
“So flying hm?” Scott chuckled while petting the fledglings.
“What else were we supposed to do? You just left and didn't even tell me how to take care of them.” Owen said right after transforming to his pouting human form.
“Well, it looks like you had fun anyway, so don't go all pouty at me.” Owen didn't have anything to say about it because it was true, they had a lot of fun, so Scott just smiled and sat down at the table while putting the bats in front of their plates.
By the time they all ate and drank what they were given, the fledglings were already tired again. So after Scott washed the dishes they all went over to the giant nest the vampires had instead of a bed.
Owen and Scott cuddled up to each other while the bats laid between and clung to them. Scott gave a quick goodnight kiss on the heads of all the bats and then gave a big kiss on Owen's lips.
Ever since the incident Owen could not sleep well and had nightmares even with Scott next to him, but with the fledglings also there, he finally, after years, slept well and without nightmares and dreamed of the beautiful years ahead with the love of his life and their fledglings.
