Chapter Text
All that Katie knew was the federation building. She could only remember her life while in federation custody, and to be honest, she generally enjoyed it! Katie got to hang around her older and younger brothers, Don and Ash, that was all she needed to be happy.
She never really understood What she was, but she always thought that she was just a simple doggy, ears and tail included. But lately, she's noticed something strange growing from her head. It appeared to be just a little bump, nothing to worry about since she was just really clumsy and had accidentally bashed her head into a wall the previous day, so it didn't strike any alarm. She didn't really care about it, but the strange white bears that worked in the federation building seemed to.
"Katie, your back! Oh my gosh I was scared that those stupid workers weren't going to return you back-" Oh! Ash! He was the youngest, and he seemed to only just recently show signs of any changes as there was a weird purple and black "glitch" starting to cover his eye (which he constantly complainsed about how it's getting harder to see with it covering a good portion of his vision.)
Katie just giggles as she swoops her younger brother into a tight hug. "You're silly, you know that? The workers could never be able to separate us, no matter how hard they could've tried!" Her little golden retriever tail wagged happily when she noticed that her older brother, Don, had started to approach Katie, and she released ash from the hug.
Don seemed to briefly check on her for any bruises, cuts, or needle pricks, and luckily she had none because it was only just a checkup.
"Nothing happened, right? You're not hurt?" He wanted to check up on his younger sister's mental state incase any damage was done mentally instead and not physically (because who knows, the federation is fairly messed up once you get olde
Don was older than Katie and Ash by a couple years, and the federation had given him the power of invisibility (under heavy constraints so it wouldn't be easy for him to just leave,) and he knew better than any of the younger ones what the feds can do to them. He felt the need to always check on them after every visit to the... "scary room..." as ash called it. Ash had been there more than Katie due to his development starting earlier than her even though he was around a year younger.
The golden retriever girl just giggled again in response, but still spoke with her words, "I'm fine, Don! All they did was just look at the funky bump on my head. No needles, no knives or whatever, nada! Hehe-" Katie still seemed just as happy and bubbly as everything, bringing relief to Don and confirmation that his little sister was okay. "Mr. CuCu came to visit too!" Don immediately froze in panic for a quick second, but quicjly relaxed himself before his sister could notice the sudden panic that flashed through him. "He said something about how I was going to be strong and beautiful in the future, like a deity of sorts!" Katie had no alarm with saying this, as if nothing seemed strange in that.
Ash had walked over to one of the walls in the room they stayed in. He seemed to clumsily grab a peace of paper and some crayons from a light gray table that was right in the corner of the room, and Katie seemed to go over and join him.
"I wanna draw a unicorn with wings! I always thought they were so pretty..." She giggled while grabbing a pink crayon and paper, placing them on the floor next to ash who seemed to just be scribbling a bunch of random shapes with purple and black, honestly, Katie couldn't even say anything about it being Really bad because to be honest, his vision isn't the best anymore.
"They're called alicorns, by the way." Don corrected her and gently sat down next to his younger siblings. He was reading a study book that he was assigned by the teacher bear who makes them and the others learn new things every other day. "Also, Ash what are you trying to draw? I know you can't really see well and all, but it just honestly looks disturbing to just see a bunch of black and purple scribbles all of the page, yknow?" Don kind of giggled, turning back to read a segment about some graphing thing Katie could not understand for the life of her.
the youngest of the three just layer there on his stomach scribbling away for a few seconds before responding, "I honestly don't really know, but it kind of reminds me of the glitches on my face when I look in the mirror- in a cool way though! I bet I'm gonna be the bestest out of you guys when those bear workers teach me how to use my super awesome and cool magic powers! You betcha that I'll be able to protect us all, and Don, you'll be able to relax more instead of having to care and worry for me and sister Katie all the time, I promise that!" Ash rambled on for a little, but it made Katie feel all warm and fuzzy inside.
Just thinking about how her younger brother was aspiring to be able to protect and defend his older siblings, even at such a young age just made her heart wanna melt.
"Not only is it just a bunch of scribbles, but to me, it makes me think about all the big things I can do in the future, yknow?" Ash looked at Katie, then to Don.
Don just laughs, "big words for such a little man, don't ya think, Ash?"
That just immediately set him off, and Katie busted out into laughter because it was true! Ash was the smallest out of the three, but he was growing really fast so maybe one day he might be taller than the older two.
"IM NOT SHORT! IM STILL JUST GROWING DON!" Ash pouted a little bit, before sighing and calming himself down with some of the tactics that Katie taught for how to make him... Less... mad at others.
Ttheoverhead lights started to dim low and soft sleep music started to play from the speakers.
Katie perked up and groaned angrily, "ughhhh is it really time to go to bed already? Dang it I didn't get to finish my drawing..." She sounded super dejected, but before she could let herself get any more upset, she took deep breaths and started cleaning up her area. "I guess I could continue it tommorow since we don't have school- yeah! That's a good idea!"
"Awww- I don't wanna go to sleep!"
"Ash- you should probably do the same as Katie and clean up. Remember how rude the big ol' bears act when we aren't in bed on time?"
"Yeah! We can continue in the morning! C'mon, Ash! Pleaaasseeeeeeee I don't wanna get on Mr.CuCu's bad side tonight!"
"Fine-"
---
All three were fast asleep, tucked in their bed sheets, it was late in the night, and all the room lights for all the kids have been fully turned off.
The door to the room they the three siblings all shared quietly opened as one of the middle ranked federation members entered into the room. They approached the purple bed on the far right where ash slept, carefully injecting something into his arm - supposedly something to keep him asleep - and they picked him up from the bed after a few moments.
When the federation worker carried the boy out from the room, another walked in and removed the bed from the room. Luckily the beds were more like cots, and weren't too heavy or loud, so they were fairly easy to remove. But what were they doing? And where were they taking the youngest?
(I might remove this segment after I go over it later just so I could add some suspense but I'll see your opinions on it :D )

"Don? Don! Wake up! Ash is missing!"
