Chapter Text
Vampires can’t be born vampires. They can, however, be born half-vampires, even with two vampiric parents. (You don’t see it happen a whole lot because the vampires are really, really gay.)
Oakhurst goes from having Scott as nobility to having his brother as chief to having his nephew as mayor.. Running Oakhurst runs in the family I guess.
Family tree breakdown:
If you’ve read 1000 memories you know of Scott’s younger brother Theodorus (I don't even remember the correct spelling we used rn so.. Consider it era consistant if the spelling is inconsistant.), if not you don’t really have to to understand what’s going on as most events will be retold here from Abolish (and possibly Pyro)’s perspective, plus this starts off like 400 years before that.
Theodorus is Abolish’s father. Abolish has 2 half brothers; Erin and Louis (Yes that Louis) Both born of different mothers, before Scott was put to slumber. (exactly 200 years before where we start with Abolish). Abolish also has one full sister; Alica (15).
On the mother’s side of things she is of the Veylocke family, a family of witches (the same family of witches that put Scott to sleep). The Veylocke witches do not like vampires. Abolish’s mother (Maelys Veylocke) betrayed the family and ran off to have the whole forbidden relationship thing.
Things that would spoil too much, things that would spoil too much, Abolish ends up with the Veylockes. Abolish, as a half vampire, is not treated great by his mother’s side of the family (who could have guessed this was coming). Abolish was with the Veylocke family for 400 years, until coming to Oakhurst.
The cousinhood: There is a part of the Veylocke family that was cut off for being religious nuts. This part of the family happens to lead directly to Avid. Yes, Avid and Abolish are cousins. Yes, this means Avid is also technically a witch. Yes, this does mean Avid and Scott have a blood relative in common. No, that does not make them related. Yes, this plot point could have been a big reveal, I just didn’t want it to be, partially to say that last related thing.
Another note:
This fic has one author. Sometimes pronouns like we or our will be used in reference to the author. The author is just a complicated person and loves being cryptic. You can use any/all pronouns for the author, we would prefer it.
The author does not sleep, the author is borderline illiterate on a day by day basis. Both of these things means the quality of writing may be wildly inconsistent between chapters, bare in mind.
If something seems OOC or doesn't match with canon let us all just pretend that lies solely on the fact this is an AU. We all may know the reason to be the author is both forgetful and lazy but we can pretend for their sake.
