Chapter Text
“This is an insane idea." Professor Jackson murmurs as the machine forging the giant customized robots.
"It is a perfect idea, you are looking at the great opportunity, my friend." The General spoke pleasantly, the scientists tapping steadily on their computers to either see the vital, the mechanic, and the equipment, blue screen were everywhere, flashes with countless numbers and letters, professor Jackson checking his own blue print screen to see the whole anatomy of the Giant robots.
Sure, the Cyberx has been accepted and invented by the Governments to research more of the space, the knowledge to learn about every planet, every galaxy, every life that could exist, is far more worthy than any goals that is greater to accomplish.
"Don't you think this is dangerous?" The Professor asked, the General looked at him for a moment.
"The Autobots and Decepticons were the living proof that there could be more life outside the earth, we only need that information to create the stability in our own system, Old friend." The General patted Professor Jackson to reassure about the plan.
Uncertainty surfaced inside the Professor mind, of course it is dangerous to use the exo-suit to explore space, not to mention there could be Transformers out there, but they can't go back now, especially if it is the Governments wish.
He looked down on his robotic arm to remember something.
"The knowledge will finally be ours, discovering more planets and stars is everything." The General spoke passionately, Professor Jackson snapped out of his reminiscing and huffed a laugh at his colleague's excitement, that eased the tension a bit in his mind.
"Alright, but we have to test it firs-" Professor Jackson was about to finish his sentence when four teenagers burst inside the large lab, shouting at each other for ridiculous reasons, every scientist and staff stared at them, clearly not amused at the reckless teenagers that have interrupted their working time.
Professor Jackson sighs. "I'll let you move on." He spoke to the general before walking to the four teens.
The four teenagers argued with each other as usual, they were not exactly thrilled about working together which Professor Jackson told them to do, building relationships is hard nowadays.
"Adam I swear to god, touch my chip again and I'll-" Lexieen, the professor's daughter, has brunette hair, tanned, and has green eyes just like the professor, walking in the laboratory in penguin pajamas is a normal thing to see on random Monday.
"Oh come on, Lex, it's not that big of a deal." The tallest one named Adam interrupted with a roll of eyes at her, Lexieen glared at him as if her eyes could kill him in an instant.
"Not big of a deal? They were my snacks!" She pointed her finger at him, Adam didn't look apologetic, he just giggled like it was some kind of a joke to him, Lexieen sneered at her friend, she punched his shoulder which made Adam let out a yelp.
"Hey! knock it off!"
"Not if you don't stop touching my chip!"
"Right enough you two, why are you all still not sleeping?" Professor Jackson asked, standing between both of them.
The four teens look at each other, knowing they stay up way past their sleep schedule, thanks to the advanced chronometer, and the reminder from their workers back in the earth, sheepish were all on their faces, knowing that they got caught.
"We want to witness the moment the participant tested the exo-suit, it could be so cool!" The middle guy spoke, this is Max, the orphan teen, Lexieen nodded slowly, Adam nudged his shoulder for speaking out already.
The four teenagers got inside the LARGE laboratory, just to watch the human mind going to transfer inside the robot body.
Professor Jackson raised his eyebrow at that, crossing his arm at teens who were supposed to be sleeping at 10:30, he shakes his head in disapproval.
"No kids, you are not allowed to see them yet, this is the testing for the participating humans to actually fully control the exo-suit." He explained, staring at the giant curtain that hangs in the wall, like some kind of surprise artificial object in the museum.
Adam scoffed, crossing his arm, he looked at the professor. "But sir! This is once in a lifetime, it would be awesome to see it actually work." Protested, but the professor however didn't bother to listen anymore of the teens, he rubs his temple, he could feel this conversation is clearly tiring him out.
"No Adam, this is a private experiment, you all will see it once we all find Cybertron and stay in."
Adamn groaned, Lexieen placed her hand on her hip to watch the laboratory going around, the Scientists looking through the holographic screens and doing some examination of metals, they have to make sure everything is in plan, small things should be checked as well.
Just like Professor Jacskon, Lexieen also felt unease in her mind.
"But don't you think it's invasive to get into the planet's surface without any robots knowing?" Lexieen asked, worried look on her face, Professor Jackson's eyes softened at his daughter's concern, he placed his hand on her shoulder to reassure her.
"I know all of this sounds like a bad idea, but it could be our only chance to understand more of our own galaxy and what is beyond it." He said softly, squeezing her shoulder for her to understand what he's getting at. "And even if the Cybertronians noticed, we'll deal with what they'll do, we'll just be careful."
Lexieen went quiet, blinking a few times before letting out a sigh and nodded. Professor Jackson smiled, letting go of her shoulder and refocused back to the other teenagers, checking his phone to see the time.
"You four need to go to sleep, it gets late, you'll get exhausted by the morning." The professor told them, which earned disappointment from the boys.
"Ughhh, please Mr Jackson, just one glance." Austin, the fourth teen who is basically the nerdy guy, but his pleading has no effect on the professor as he already heard this before. He saw how stubborn and impatient they are when it comes to something that is only for the government.
"No, I have already said you can't-" Then the sound of the ringing arm interrupted, like whaling but a more urgent sound.
"Everyone, get in your position, the exo-suit is ready." The speaker announced, causing everyone to focus, and just like the school bell rings, everyone would be ready to go, so just like that, the light became dim, the people shifted their positions in the quick motion like some kind of theater performance.
Professor Jackson looked up at the speaker, the teens share the glance at each other to process what they just heard, they clearly excited, but again they can't be allowed in, because they young and would probably would do something reckless, beside it still a test progress, who knows if it dangerous to physically become a robot.
Professor Jackson looks around to see everyone getting ready, meaning the process will begin, he lets out a sigh before he looks back at the teens, he places his hands on their shoulders and pushes their back out of the room.
"Alright, you four have to leave and get some sleep." He said as he pushed them out of the laboratory, but of course the youngsters are stubborn as a steel, Adam wouldn't let go of something he desperately wanted to see, Lexieen stopped even trying since it futile to get through her father strictness, as when they got out of the double door, Professor Jackson standing in front of it to stop them if they try to getting back in.
"Go to your room, now." He said, holding the key card beside him, he won't hesitate to close the door right to their faces.
"But sir-!"
"NOW." He warned, leaving nothing to argue, he closed the door shut when he got back in, leaving the teens outside to deal with their disappointment.
"UGHHH no fair!" Adam voiced out, frustrated, crossing his arm tightly. "I want to see it man! What is their problem?!" He whined.
Lexieen just let out a deep breath, rubbing her eyes when the exhaustion began to stir, her dad was right they should've gone to bed by now.
"Come on guys, let's just go to sleep, I'm getting tired." She yawned at the last statement, Adam rolled his eyes but he didn't say anything.
"Maybe we can ask him tomorrow morning." Austin said, they all agreed reluctantly, they can't bother the laboratory now at this unholy hour.
Then they walked away with Adam complaining along.
Back in the laboratory.
"Is everything according to plan?" The General asked as he stood across the huge blue curtains that standing in the middle in front of the clear steel wall, scientists scrambled as the tech beds with cables being features lined up, about five to be exact, the light were dimmed still, to avoid the over simulation of the participated human while their mind being transferred.
"Yes sir." One of the scientists answered.
The General nodded, pleased that everything is going well as he hoped, looking at the progress. "Good." He nodded, he focused on the curtains as he heard someone approaching beside him, he looked at his side to see Professor Jackson standing with him. "I take it when the kids finally let go?"
Professor Jackson huffs a laugh. "They are as resilient as Arthur's sword." He said.
"Hah, i wouldn't blame them, this whole thing is unimaginable, once it works, we will finally discover what our old heroes really are." The General spoke, with delight in his eyes like a bright star in the dark void of space, glints ever so. He has been working on this project ever since he was a young man, his dream to study outer species is enormous.
The professor smiled at his old friend being passionate about his work, something he hasn't forgotten in a long time throughout their partnership. "Well I hope nothing bad will come out of it." He said, checking the vitality of the mecha. "But although the controller must be careful with the body, we can't risk them destroying the lab." speaking as he tapped on the slight transparent tablet.
"I'm sure it will be just fine, this is simply a test, it will be done in a minute." The General spoke with confidence etched on his face.
"Sir, shall we begin?" The Scientist asked, the General looked at him before nodding.
Once the signal is heard, the operation begins.
One of the blue curtain opened, revealing the steel black and dark purple bulky mecha with sleek wheels on the back of its legs and shoulders, its face is covered with the black mask and brownish red visor, most Cybertronians do have strange colors, so they decided to blend in with that standard, including similar broad frame that is made for combat and self defense.
Then the black man with the black glasses came in with a tight white bodysuit. He was guided to lay his back on the tech bed, the Scientists placing ECG cables under the bodysuit, his chest, legs and arms.
"If I die, I'll haunt everyone till the day y’all go crazy." Brad threatened, but it had no effect on anyone. He has always been this joking guy who has a big heart and all, he clearly not being serious of course, a ghost possessing a robot isn't exactly possible, he did mention playing a game about it once.
Professor Jackson approached the bed, his hand gripped on the edge he worried that his good friend couldn’t get through if the progress started.
"Remember Brad, do not panic," He said, his robotic hand gripping the bar of the hospital. "This is only temporary, you just have to say something and be done with it." Professor Jackson warned before taking a step back, Brad pulled his thumb up with a reassuring smile, then the Scientist placed the sort of helmet thing over his head, placing it like some kind of sacred crown.
"Lay still, Brad." The nurse said as she placed his thumb up and down at his side, Brad nodded as he went completely still like the statue.
"Alright, now transfer." The Scientist said, one of the professors nodded before placing the button on the screen.
The signal sent through Brad heads to the robot, Professor Jackson checking the vitality of both of them to see the numbers pulling up, words coming in, anticipation stirs in the air, Brad's face is completely frozen, one moment of silence, everyone is focusing on the robot.
"Come on...." The General muttered, his fingers at his sides, clearly conflicted between hope and worry, noticing the desperation in his voice. The entire career and purpose lies on this project, if it fails, so everything they worked for will be all over.
Professor Jackson grimaced as the others held a lot of emotions in their mind, and anxiety filling the air around them like a bundle of chains, trapping them in the moment of truth.
Then....
The robot head looked up startled everyone in the room, the visor gleamed like some kind of sunglasses, the head darted at everyone and the room, and that moment everyone started to feel more hopeful.
The General grabbed the speaker from one of his soldiers and for a few seconds, Professor Jackson winced at how loud it was, rubbing his poor ear from that.
"Brad?" He spoke through the speaker to the observing robot.
The robot look at everyone before the visor landing on the General, then silence, too quiet in fact, it look at the hands and legs, moving them like it discovering it body for the first time, everyone look worried for a second, thinking that Brad might feel uncomfortable and will start panicked, but then the robot laughed, causing the shock across everyone.
"Yep, works like a charm, sir!" He said, pulling his thumb up, yup it is Brad.
From that moment, everyone cheered, papers thrown in the air, handshakes, hugs and everything. They have finally completed the first stage of their critical mission.
"Yes!" The General shouts with his fists up in the air, overjoyed, and Professor Jackson just lets out a breath of relief, but still shocked that it finally worked. "We actually did it!" the governments will be so delighted when they hear the news, they can finally have the chance to understand the knowledge of outer space way beyond the Milky Way.
Brad started to dance. "Oh man, we finally did it." He said, his voice sounded like the happy host speaking on the microphone, his dance may cause a little shake in the room which caused few scientists to stop, Brad chuckled, shrugging as saying he didn't mean it.
Professor Jackson grabbed the speaker from the General hand before speaking into it. "Brad, tell us, how does it feel?" The Professor asked.
Brad looks all over the body, testing the fingers as he makes the fists and the legs jogging. "It feels like I'm energized, in the best way, seriously it's like I'm my own body!" He explained, his both hands placed on the robotic hip proudly and comfortably, if the robot would have the face, he would be grinning.
"Hmm....Robots have energy that complies emotionally and physically, even within the human mind, fascinating." The professor said as he typed down on his device to make notes, his digital pen scribe on the screen so rapidly he was afraid he would forget it somehow.
"Yes but now that we have completed the first difficult task, we'll have to greet the Autobots and Deceptions soon enough." The General explained, with a confident smile on his face, once they get in the Cybertron, the Autobots and the rest of the beings will meet their own version of their kind, with the human minds.
"We'll greet them with our future.”
