Chapter Text
It was cold outside.
Of course it was. It was already 2 a.m.
He was swinging from building to building, looking out for any crimes.
Just when he was about to head home again, he heard a loud, terrified scream from across the street. With a fast, practiced motion, he threw himself off the building, where he was sitting, catching himself with his webs on the opposite building already swinging in the direction from which the scream came from.
The scream rang out again.
Screaming for help.
Only a few seconds later, Peter arrived at the scene of the crime, only to find a woman being robbed by two men.
He quickly pulled the woman to the side, so that she wouldn’t get hurt.
He expected the two men to run away, but unfortunately both pulled a knife out of their pockets. Before peter could react one of them quickly moved forward to stab peter into his stomach.
The pain crawled from his stomach up into his chest.
Blood gushed out of the cut, flowing down onto the ground while peter backed up holding his wound with one hand to stem the flow of blood.
He didn’t have much time to check his wound because the two men moved forward again, ready to attack a second time.
They tried to stab him again, but he managed to block all of the attacks. He pushed them until they were standing in front of a wall.
Without hesitation, he pinned them to the wall with his web fluid until they were unable to move.
When he turned around, the woman he had saved was already gone.
Only then he noticed the sharp pain again. He didn’t even recognize the pain before because his body was filled with adrenaline.
“Let us free!” Screamed one of them, trying to get free from the webs.
“Don’t worry, they will dissolve in a few hours.” He responded, already swinging away with one hand while he held his wound with the other one.
When he finally reached the top from a high building, he sat down on the edge, pulling out his phone.
He opened Ned’s contact, typing in a message.
“Please be awake” He whispered into the dark, cold night.
Peter:
Ned, I need your help. I got stabbed. Are you awake?
NED???
Right when he was about to put his phone away, accepting the fact that Ned was probably already as sleep, his phone light up showing a new message from an unknown number which needed to be Ned because he got a new number, and they haven't texted yet.
Unknown number:
I’m not Ned. You texted the wrong number.
Peter:
Not the time for jokes. I need your help. I’m bleeding.
Unknown number:
I promise I am not your friend but how did you get stabbed?
Peter:
Uhhhh… by accident?
Unknown number:
That didn’t sound convincing at all.
Peter:
But it’s trueee
Unknown number:
Then go to the hospital, kid
Peter:
How do you know im a kid?
Unknown number:
You seem quiet young.
Peter:
Are you a stalker?
Unknown number:
No, I’m not
Peter:
That would say every stalker
Unknown number:
Just go to the hospital.
Peter:
Nahh I’m fine
Unknown number:
What do you mean you are fine? You literally got stabbed.
Peter:
Byeee
Unknown number:
Wait kid.
Go to the hospital
You there?
Hello?
Ned must have given him the wrong number, or he wrote it down wrongly. No matter what the cause was, he couldn’t contact Ned.
The wound was still bleeding and hurt and he was cold.
He tried to stand up and fell almost off the building because of the dizziness.
Slowly he swinged back home to take care of his wound and also because he got tired.
When he reached his window, he climbed in, trying to be as quit as he can, so his aunt May wouldn’t wake up.
This would be the last thing he needed in this night. Get screamed at for being too loud.
The moment he stepped in his room he fell on his bed only wanting to sleep. But first he needed to check his wound.
He grabbed his first aid kit, which was hidden under his bed so no one would see it and took off his suit.
It was still bleeding a little bit.
He put disinfectant on the wound and carefully wrapped a bandage around his stomach.
After he was finished with it, he took off his binder and slipped into comfortable clothes before he went to bed.
He was thinking about whether to answer the stranger or not, but he was too tired to response and drifted slowly to sleep.
In the meanwhile, Tony was now completely awake, worried about the strange kid who had texted him.
'Which teenager gets stabbed in the middle of the night? And why doesn’t he want to go to a hospital?' He thought.
But not only this.
How was he even able to message him, breaking through all the several fire walls that Tony had installed, so people couldn’t hack or text him?
'I guess I need to text him tomorrow and ask him.' He decided.
At the next morning, Peter woke up by his alarm going off.
He reached his phone, turning the alarm off and groaned from the pain which was shooting into his stomach.
Normally his wound would be better than the day before, but because he didn’t get enough food his wound couldn’t heal faster than the ones from a normal human.
He quickly got up, not wanting to get late to school again and getting detention.
Hopefully May was already at work so he could eat breakfast in peace.
He took off his pajamas and putted his binder with grey jeans on and combined it with a white shirt and a black hoodie.
When he opened the door, he could already hear May in the kitchen.
Without making any noises he stepped into the bathroom, brushing his teeth and taking a quick shower, keeping an eye on his wound. Afterwards he carefully wrapped a fresh bandage around it.
He grabbed two apple from his room, throwing them into his backpack, and left the house before his aunt could notice him.
On the way to the school, he pulled his phone out of his pocket, opening the strangers contact.
Peter:
I’m fine. No worries.
It was just a little cut nothing serious :D
He shoved his phone back in his pocket after taking a quick glance at the time. It was already 7:25 a.m, which meant that he only got 5 more minutes left to reach the school.
Perfectly on time he stormed in the classroom and taking a seat in the back.
The teacher arrived only a few seconds later so he got lucky.
They had physics in the first 2 lessons.
He loves physics but not in school. It was boring and he knew everything since he was about eight. So instead of listening to the teacher, he grabbed his phone once again and checked for any new messages.
He had a few. All were from the anonymous person he texted a couple of days ago by accident.
Unknown number:
It didn't sound like just a little cut.
Are you sure you're okay?
Peter:
It was I swear.
And I'm fine.
Unknown number:
If you say so…
I still got a question though.
Peter:
What is it old man?
Unknown number:
How did hack my phone?
And on top in such a short time?
Peter:
It was actually pretty easy.
And I didn't even hack you
Unknown number:
What do you mean by that?
Peter:
Weeeell…
It was my ai
Unknown number:
You invented your own ai at..
Wait how old even are you?
Peter:
I'm not going to tell a pedophile my age
Unknown number:
I AM NOT A PEDO!
You just seem young and it's impressive that you built your own ai
Peter:
I'm not young.
I'm 15 that's almost grown up
Unknown number:
15 is young kid.
Peter:
No it isn't.
Oh shoot
Unknown number:
What's wrong kid?
Peter:
My teacher caught me on the phone during class.
I gotta go.
TTYL
Unknown number:
YOU WERE CHATTING WITH ME DURING CLASS?
You should pay attention to your lessons.
And what means ttyl?
"Peter? Was that a phone?" His physics teacher asked him insistently.
"No" he immediately responded, hoping not to be caught or else he would probably get detention.
"Then it shouldn't be a problem for you to solve this equation?"
He stood up in shame, lowering his head, because he could already hear flash behind him laughing.
When he stood in front of the board he looked at it and immediately said,
"This is impossible to solve"
"Peter! If you can't tell me the answer then why did you stand up?", she asked with mocking tone.
"If the 57 would be positive and not negative then the answer would be 493.", he tried to explain.
"Sit down!"
On the way back to his table, Flash threw a paper ball at his head.
"Don't be so nerdy penny!", he added on top of it.
Yeah, of course he was used to his dead name but it still hurt to hear this name. No one except of Mj and Ned used his preferred name. Neither his preferred pronouns.
Not even May.
She was always there for him since his parents died but since the day he came out as trans, she was suddenly a completely new person. Just not in a good way.
Sadly.
He thought she's going to support him. Maybe even help him with the transitioning stuff.
But he was wrong.
So, so wrong.
And he hated himself for that. For trusting her with his deepest secret only to receive the response 'you are mentally ill. We will find someone who can heal you'. He didn't need to be healed by a stupid doctor. He doubted that this was even possible.
He told her that.
Told her that he didn't need to be healed or fixed.
Told her that this wasn't just a phase.
He still had hope that she might understand and support him.
But this was the problem.
She got angry and hit him.
She hit him for the first time in his life.
After that night he never spoke to her properly.
Not because he didn't want to, he tried to apologize every single time but she always ignored him, pretended he didn't even exist.
She only noticed him whenever she was angry or he did something wrong.
And then she hit him.
A tear was threaded to escape his eye because of the memories from that night.
He quickly wiped over his eyes, pretending to be fine and hoping that no one had seen him.
This is a good thing about being almost invisible.
People only notice you when they want something from you or when they are going to harass you, but every other time no one cares about you.
When the lesson was over, he stood up so fast he got dizzy from the blood loss and maybe because he hadn't eaten something properly in the last 4 days.
He walked down the hallway looking out for Ned and Mj who had different classes at this morning.
Before he could find them he felt a hand grabbing his shoulder.
"Why in such a hurry pussy penny?", said no one other than flash.
He didn't respond. It was the best for him but the name hurt so much that it was hard to keep his mouth shut.
"Someone got your tongue or why can't you answer me, you fag?"
"No", he replied, not wanting to get into more troubles.
Flash didn't respond. Instead he shoved him with all his strength.
Peter's back slammed hard in the locker behind him. He managed to keep his balance and didn't fall onto the ground.
The metal was cold on his back and the handle from the locker pressed hard against his left shoulder.
But he still didn't dare to move, not wanting to cause further problems.
He didn't even dare to breathe.
Flash stepped forward to him and looked him in the eyes before hitting him right in the stomach.
And it wouldn't be Peter if he had luck.
The punched was placed on the exact same spot as his stab wound was.
Seconds later he could already feel the blood which was running out of it.
He pressed his hand on it to stop the blood flow.
Flash just laughed at him, called him pussy one more time before he left.
At least he was wearing a black sweater, so no one could see the blood.
He quickly made his way over to the bathrooms and locked himself in a cabin.
After he took off his hoodie and his shirt, which already had a large red stain on it, he grabbed a new bandage out of his backpack and pulled it around his stomach.
Only then he heard a familiar voice.
"Are you in here peter?
"Yeah I'm here Ned." He answered and unlocked his cabin.
Ned rushed in looking at his bandage concernedly.
"What happened man?" Ned asked.
"Got stabbed last night on patrol." He responded.
"I tried to text you but you gave me the wrong number and I accidentally messaged a random guy." He continued.
"Oh fuck. I'm so sorry!" Ned apologized.
"Don't be sorry it's not your fault. And I'm fine. You know how fast I'm going to heal."
"I know but–" he was cut off from the bell which rung the second time.
"We need to go. I can't be late and I really don't want to get detention." Peter said.
They quickly headed to their classroom and sat down right before their teacher entered the room.
The school days continued without any other incident and Peter was glad when he could go home but on the other hand he didn't want the school to end ever.
On the way home he bought himself some food because he was pretty sure they wouldn't have anything at home.
When he reached his home – or his house, because he didn't refer it as his home – he pushed the door open, trying not to make any noises, so his aunt wouldn't notice him.
But the second he placed a foot inside, May already screamed his name angrily.
