Work Text:

“Why can’t you just admit we’re meant to be together?!” Dagur growls, shoving Hiccup backwards onto his bed.

“Get off of me!” Hiccup shouts, trying to push Dagur away from him.

“Would you just hold still already,” Dagur huffs, grabbing a piece of rope, “Gods! You make this so much more difficult than it needs to be.”

“Let me go!” Hiccup tries shoving Dagur away only for the man to grab his wrists and quickly bind them with the rope. With the extra length he then forces Hiccup’s hands above his head and ties them to the headboard.

Once Hiccup is secured and most definitely not going anywhere, Dagur reaches for something long, thin, and very sharp.

“If you won’t act more agreeable, I’ll make you more agreeable.”

“Dagur no— no, hey, you don’t have to do this—” Hiccup says, speaking so quickly his words sort of get slurred together.

Dagur grabs him by the chin, grip tight, holding Hiccup’s head still.

“Shut up. You already had your chance to do what I wanted you to. Now we’re doing this my way.”

“No, no, come on Dagur… please! One more chance!! I’ll—” Hiccup starts to plead, but he falls silent when Dagur lifts that sharp tool up towards his face.

“I heard if you rearrange the front of someone’s brain, they become a lot less stubborn. Let’s see if it’s true, huh?” Dagur smiles, wild and with too many teeth showing to really be a smile.

His grip on Hiccup’s chin gets even tighter, and Hiccup closes his eyes as Dagur brings the tool close to his left eye. He feels the sharp tip of it trace over his eyelid in the lightest of touches.

“Come on Hiccup… open your eyes for me.” Dagur hums, and Hiccup keeps his eyes shut tight.

“Fine then, be like that!” Dagur growls, and then slices the tool over his eye; it isn’t deep, only enough to scratch his eyelid, but it is painful, and Hiccup gasps at the feeling.

Then Dagur brings the tool over his eye again, applying much more pressure, pushing in this time instead of slicing it, and Hiccup swears he feels something burst. There’s tears and blood and vitreous humor all mixing together and leaking from his left eye and down the side of his face now as Dagur shoves that tool inside his head, puncturing his eye and pushing it in deep.

Hiccup wants to feel angry, wants to feel worried. He knows he should be feeling both of those and more right now. But as Dagur shoves that tool in deeper, through his eye socket and into his brain, then swirls it side to side, Hiccup finds himself feeling… numb. Practically entirely apathetic to the experience; almost detached, really.

And pain, too. He feels pain. But… it’s almost like it’s distant now. He does feel pain; what he’s going through hurts worse than anything he’s felt before. Hiccup just can’t conjure up the energy to react to it though.

“There we go,” Dagur coos, pulling the tool out of Hiccup’s eye. He grabs a rag and dabs up the bloody mess still leaking from his eye, cleaning off his face. “Isn’t that so much better now?”

Hiccup doesn’t reply, he just looks up at Dagur with his one good eye, lying there passively.

Dagur grins and presses a quick kiss to Hiccup’s lips, “We’re finally going to be together, just like we were meant to. You’re going to love it, Hiccup.”
