Bill cleared his throat. “Earlier this morning your brother was found on Eastwood street. Do you know where that is?”
Darry nodded sharply. Eastwood was closer to the west side, where most of the middle class lived, not quite Socs, but far from Greasers. Darry has warned Pony about going to the west—to stop going to the movie theatre over there.
“Two young men found your brother there, he seemed to have been involved in an incident.”
“Is he alright? Where is he?” Sodapop's voice was higher than usual. He gnawed at his lip, a nervous habit he and Ponyboy shared.
The older man’s eyes were softer when he next spoke, voice clear. “Your brother was transported to Saint Francis hospital via ambulance after sustaining multiple stab wounds. That’s all the information we have at the moment.”
