putting this in the speculation flair even though i'm like 90% certain i'm right, but just to be safe.
so i'm pretty sure i just maybe possibly hooked up with spider-man?
like okay i'm at this bar with my friends when i get to talking with this guy about my fork bomb tattoo. i'm not usually into short guys, but he was sweet and funny and let me go on an honestly insane rant about bash functions. and he understood it! (and if it sounds like the bar is in hell: girls it's horrendous out there.) so i'm like, hey why not, and i invite him back to mine.
the first thing i noticed is that he was like, very obviously careful about the way he touched me. at first i thought it was just him being respectful, which again, sweet, but then i started to get the sense that he was worried that he would accidentally hurt me or touch me too hard or something. he loosened up as things progressed, but it felt a bit like he was calibrating, you know?
which makes sense, because he was STRONG. like picked me up and literally carried me across the room, despite the fact that i was taller and heavier than him. like FWEW. he was tossing me AROUND, girls.
...anyway, where was i? so. super strong, hyper aware of it. he also had bruises in weird places, which he said he got while working. i was a little distracted at that point to think about it too hard, and at the time i wrote it off as like, oh well i'm not all that familiar with how bruises look on skin tones lighter than mine, so maybe that's normal? but thinking back, it seemed like a LOT of bruises for one dude to have, all at different stages of healing.
and THEN later in the night right as he was getting dressed, i noticed when i grabbed his phone for him (beat to SHIT by the way, and definitely looked like he'd made it himself), i noticed his push notifications were all like, updates from some kind of police scanner app.
a notification came just as i was handing it over, and i didn't see what it said, but he suddenly got super focused and still.
and this is the part that's like. okay. you're hooking up with a guy and he gets a notification on his phone that all of a sudden makes things weird? we all know what that's about. but this was different, in a way that i can't stop thinking about and also i am having a really hard time putting into words.
i grew up in the catskills, and winters there can be brutal. at risk of relying on cliché in my reddit post about maybe possibly fucking spider-man: there's this phenomenon that happens, right before a winter storm hits, where everything goes quiet, and clear, and calm. the sun shines and turns the snow into a wash of reflected light, so bright it almost looks like it's glowing. the wind doesn't stir in the trees, or kick up snow into your eyes, or bite into your cheeks. when you walk through the woods, everything is so still and silent that all you can hear is the crunch of the snow beneath your feet and your own breath in your ears. and that's how you know it's gonna be a bad one, and you have to be prepared for what's coming.
that's what it was like to be near this guy when he saw that message. not dangerous like men usually are, not the way that i think every woman in this sub is probably familiar with, like something's changed and now you're in the room with a threat. dangerous like the moment before the weather turns. like something inevitable and necessary is about to happen, and the only thing to do is get out of its way.
and then the moment passed, and he was back to being sweet and a little goofy. he kissed me and thanked me for the night, and then he left.
the next day i saw on this sub that spider-man had broken up a human trafficking ring operating out of a warehouse, 6 blocks from my apartment.
idk. idk! but i'm pretty sure it was spider-man. maybe. possibly.
edit: STOP asking me if he was good. of course he was good. he was maybe possibly spider-man.
edit 2: oh i forgot to mention this, but something else is that he gave me a Really Obviously Fake Name when we met at the bar. needless to say i was NAWT moaning that in the midst of things.
who names their child Flash?
