That Final Exception

Summary:

Wemmbu's a god. Boosfer, his twin, and Eggchan, his best friend, know this.
But there's one more person who knows; that's not a god or angel.

Or

Minemanner is the third and last person who knows about Wemmbu's divinity!! :D

Notes:

So uhm. My brain has been thinking of Wemmbu and Minemanner recently. So. We get this :]

Hope you enjoy! :D

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

There are very few people who know of Wemmbu’s divinity.

Boosfer, his twin, who is also a god. So of course he knows- it would be both stupid and rather concerning if he didn’t know.

Eggchan, his best friend, a seraphim who is aware of nearly every god. So of course Wemmbu told him about it; the angel already had a good guess near the beginning anyways.

And lastly…

“I thought you died.” Wemmbu hissed.

“Why?” Straight murmured.

Obviously, the voidling-raven hybrid was very much not dead. Not injured, and not missing either. He had gone into hiding after the Invisible Mafia was taken down. He had listened to the daily conversations and learned about what was happening on the server. And apparently, reported it all back to Ashswag.

“Because all that I know was that I left after you let the Mafia destroy the Skyblock Civilization. And then the Mafia was taken down, and I thought that meant everyone in the Mafia had died!” The ‘demonic avian’ shouted. “And you were clearly part of the Mafia, so what was I supposed to think?!”

“Ash spared me,” Straight said. “I’m not sure why, but he did something. I assume it has to do with his divinity.”

“His divinity?” Wemmbu deadpanned.

“Ash is a god-” Straightstarted.

“I already know he’s a god,” the ‘demonic avian’ interrupted, “I’m just surprised he even had enough authority to spare someone from death.”

“..What?”

“He’s hardly recognized as a deity anymore,” Wemmbu scoffed. “He’s lucky the Mafia has been burned into so many people’s memories, because it’s the only thing keeping him immortal.”

Seriously, Wemmbu’s fairly certain that the Invisible Mafia was Ash’s last ditch effort in keeping him as a god. He’d never been a major god, merely a minor one. Similar to Boosfer, but even less so. Ashswag, or Dolios, is a god of mentality. Specifically manipulation and avarice. Fitting, huh?

“..You’re a god, aren’t you?” Straight realized.

Wemmbu froze for half a second too long. “Why would you think that?”

“Who would know about Ash being a god?” The voidic avian pointed out, “Who would possibly know his status was or is in danger? Surely only those he told, and other deities, would know. And I highly doubt he would tell you any of that information.”

“You don’t say a word about this to anyone,” Wemmbu muttered. “Not to random players, not to any other possible survivors of the Mafia, not to any single living or undead being, or any spirits. Absolutely no one.

“..Okay.” Straight nodded.

It was dead silent for a few long, agonizing moments.

Wemmbu wasn’t sure what he wanted to do by this point. Part of him wanted to yell at the voidic avian more, another part wanted to fight him, another part kind of.. Well, another part of him wanted to either cry or tackle him with a hug. Because it was just so weird how big of an impact Straight had on him. It was only, what? One or two months that Wemmbu was stuck in Sky Civ? And yet Straight had taught him a little pvp, had kept him check, had helped in discovering the contraband and then keeping their own contraband, and honestly was just.. There. In his own way.

Minemanner on the other hand. He remembered when Wemmbu first came to Sky Civ. He remembered teaching the demonic avian some sword skills, making sure he ate and did his chores, made sure he didn’t stay up too late or do something stupid. Sure, for the first month it felt more like a job, but slowly.. The voidic avian kind of warmed up to Wemmbu. And he was fairly certain that Wemmbu had warmed up to him too. And now you’re saying that that kid is actually a god?

The voidic avian was just about to speak when he was tackled with a hug. He stumbled half a step in surprise, and felt the arms around him tighten a little. “This is stupid,” came Wemmbu’s muffled, slightly choked up voice, “what you did was so stupid.”

Minemanner hesitated for a very brief moment before hugging Wemmbu back. Despite him being a god, he had taken a rather short form compared to the voidic avian. It was easy for Wemmbu to keep his head under Minemanner’s chin, his horns carefully positioned so they wouldn’t jab into the voidic avian.

“It was what I had to do at the time,” Minemanner murmured.

“That doesn’t make it better.”

“I know.”

“It was still stupid.”

“It was.”

“..And I hate how I missed you.”

The hug became tighter again.

“Missed you too, kid,” Minemanner whispered.

~~~
“Minneeeeemannerr!” Wemmbu called.
“In the living room,” the voidic avian responded.
Wemmbu started his way to the living room immediately, forcing Boosfer and Egg to follow. As the god expected, Minemanner was sitting on the couch with an open book in his hands, and a cup of barely steaming tea on the coffee table.
“Tea’s for you, by the way,” Minemanner commented.
“Well I figured that, coffee addict,” Wemmbu lightly snorted, walking over to sit on the other side of the couch. “Thanks though.”
“..It’s like I’m seeing a second MinuteTech,” Boosfer commented.
“Minute is part demon,” Egg pointed out.
“We’re half-brothers,” Minemanner informed as he flipped a page. He slotted a pretty bookmark into his book before he closed it and set it aside. Then he gave Wemmbu a subtle look that the god caught onto quite quickly.
“Oh yeah- uhm. Minemanner, this is my best friend Eggchan,” Wemmbu introduced, gesturing to the seraphim. He then gestured to Boosfer, “and then my twin brother Boosfer. Boosfer, Egg, this is Minemanner.”
“No fancy title for him?” Boosfer raised a brow.
“Uuuhhhh…” Wemmbu hummed, “Friend..? Father figure?? I don’t know bro.”
“I also mentored you,” Minemanner added.
“Okay but that was for like a month, and it was in sword.”
“It was three months, kid.”
“Time is a social construct.”
“Mhm,” Minemanner hummed sarcastically.
Anyways,” Wemmbu said with a roll of his eyes, “I wanted you all to meet cause you’re the only ones who know I’m a god n’ stuff.”
“I’m surprised you’ve kept it down to only three people, honestly,” Egg said honestly.
“Okay well Boosfer’s a given since we’re twins, so really it’s only two,” Wemmbu protested.
“Not to mention all the other gods and angels,” Boosfer snickered. “We have a Divinity Meeting with the Scholars next week, by the way.”
“Bro do not remind me-”
