me: I live for scenes where Ash just rages at Garmadon and whacks him with fire, and Garmadon is just constantly patting himself down, looking for flames, and very much wishing his son wasn't friends with a eldritch horror.
Nickelwick: Hehe I'm so glad you liked this one! It was so much fun writing Ash and Garmadon hating each other. Those two are like feral cats--hissing and clawing at one another.

EC-9903 was little. The world was big, and he was little. The world was also loud, and painful, filled with smells that rubbed on his sensitive nose, and harsh vibrations that would scratch at his already worn nerves. The noises swirled and stunned him, making him cry out.
Lights would be shone upon him, further upsetting his body, and his stomach would twist and knot into a disturbing tangle of string.
Sometimes, that's all EC-9903 felt like. A tangled mess of string.
But one day, that changed. Well, not exactly. He would still feel like a tangled mess of string, but after that day, there was someone there to gently sweep the string together, and hold it close.

Summary
Phainon's rare condition makes sunlight lethal, forcing him to live in darkness. At a gym, he meets Mydei, an injured boxer who becomes his only light. But loving someone means risking everything... including his life.

Later, at the diner, they discovered they'd both ordered differently than usual. Phainon getting the French toast instead of pancakes, and Mydei ordering a vegetable omelet instead of his standard breakfast sandwich.
"Character growth," Mydei declared, gesturing at his plate. "My therapist would be proud."
"It's an omelet, not a personality transplant."
"Baby steps." Mydei took a bite and made a face. "Okay, this is terrible. I understand why I never order this."
"Want some of my French toast?"
"Yeah?"
Phainon pushed his plate to the middle of the table. Mydei did the same with his omelet. They ate from both plates, trading bites and commentary, and it felt domestic in a way that made Phainon's stomach flip.

Which would be awesome if it weren’t for the rumors that the neighbourhood the store is in it’s controlled by the mafia and apparently there is a huge tattooed mobster intimidating his new boss.
