The Outsiders But Better By SE Hinton

Summary:

Title says it all. Read this and not the Outsiders, this is way better than the book and the movie and the musical combined. It's Dallas Winston and roller coasters, and stuff gets crazy.

SE Hinton wrote this. I am SE Hinton.

Chapter 1: Ponyboy

Chapter Text

In my younger and more vulnerable years my father gave me some advice I've been turning around in my mind ever since. But now he is dead, yeah, both of my parents; They’re dead. I do miss them, but I can’t even think about it because they’re so dead it makes me sad to think about also my brother sucks. Big time. I think he has no heart. Opposed to my other brother who is a walking heart and is so hot, like a roman god, or a painting. He’s got it on his sleeve; yeah;l

Sleeve reminds me of steve, this is my brother’s horrible friend who I hate. He’s not as bad as Darryl, but still bad. Let’s rank them, shall we?

Worse; Darryl, dally, steve. Then 2 bit, he is my friend. Tim shepard, I don't really like him and i think he is bad news. Then johnny, he’s our pet, we like to keep him in a cage but he always escapes. Then soda. Wow, soda. Where would I even begin? Soda is like when the sun comes out and it’s bright. I love soda. Not to be confused with the drink, I like that too, but sod, well, hes special, hes different; hes not like darry, who is mean, hes nice, and- “Hey you guys don’t put me in a cage’” said Johnny, my pet with big, black eyes. “”And besides, what're you doing putting Tim Shepard above half the gang?”

I forgot he could read my mind. “I can’t read your mind, you’re just speaking outloud.” “Oh sorry,” I said. “I just get in my thoughts sometimes”

“Oh ponyboy,” everyone says, rolling there eyes affectionately.

“Hey, why am I at the bottom?” said Darry. “I’m your bog brother. I work hard every day doing three loads of laundry every day. Dammit I’m tired I’ve had enough trying to please you. I’m OUT!”

“No” says everyone, but actually… it's more like just two of them. Two nBit and soda. Johnny says nothing because he’s silent after being beat up.

Darry walks out cuz he really don’t care. I was like phew in my head. Soda frowned.

“Ponyboy, you really gotta be nicer to darry. He works hard every day doing three loads of laundry every day. Dammit he’s tired he’s had enough trying to please you. He’s OUT!”
“Yea I know,” I replied. I looked away, a little embarrassed.

“It’s ok pony” Our pet said, but I responded “SHUT UP!!!!!”

He flinched a little, all hurt-like. “Yeah, and your dumb mom and abusive dad hate you, so get off my case!” Johnny started shaking and soon he was spinning so fast like a particle accelerator and he shot up into the air.

“Not again!” said.

Two bit hit me. He told me to shut up boy, his eyes ablaze. He wasn’t wisecracking because he was so mad.

“Sorry,” I said, because really; I was. Soon enough we heard a whirring as Johnny crashed right next to me again. He rubbed his head in anguish. “...,” he didnt say.

“Sorry,” I repeated in case he didn’t hear me. Two bit said we were cute, and I was worried he was gonna cat call us again. I think he was just trying to be nice, but I’m never sure. At least with Dally I am sure that he is being mean. That's the one constant: Dally being so mean.

Then, some attractive, 5’4”, dark haired lady came in. Her name was y/n, and she had curly dark hair. It had volume and length like a greaser, but unlike the greasy girls we all know, she didn’t seem so mean. Her hair blew softly in the cool Tulsa winds, even though we are in the poor part of town and the Soc’s put up a wall to try and keep the wind from getting to our part of town. Soda tore it down real quick, because he is a noble, stand up, attractive guy. All the ladies want him. No one goes for the bad boy, Dally. But as soon as y/n walked in with her kind, rebellious smile, his ears perked up like he was a dog named Johnny with big, black eyes and neglectful parents. Two Bit exclaimed, saying this better not be a Soc in his turf. But Dally knew it was his turf, not Two-Bits. Anyways, she couldn’t be a Soc- no matter how cute and kind and secretly very smart like me she was- she had a down to earth realness we could all recognize. She was definitely cuter than Cherry Valance; I bet she watched sunsets, but; she didn’t read Robert Frost probably. I’ve got Great Expectations. This was our first time ever seeing her BTW.

“Don’t look like a Soc” said Soda. He was always making such smart observations. I wish I was him. But I have to be content with what I’ve got.

Johnny din’t say anything.

“Hi,” Y/n said. Wow, her voice is so sweet like sugar and Eggs on chocolate cake and everything else good. “I’m y/n and I just moved here from the mean streets of new york city.”

I turned to Dally, but his expression was guarded. Two bit got my attention instead. He was back to his usual antics as I feared, cat calling once more.

Dally then said; “Hey cut that out.”
We all turned to him, shaking like the pet always did.

“𝕴 𝖜𝖎𝖑𝖑 𝖕𝖗𝖔𝖙𝖊𝖈𝖙 𝖙𝖔𝖚”

“O-Oh,” y/n’s eyes fluttered. “Um, do I know you?”

“It’s been a while…” Dally shyly responded. This is very out of character for him. Like I Said earlier, he is the bad boy, and I personally see him as very mean. This introduction of a new character and a different past, as well as a caring part of his character, means that there might be more to him than I know. Just preparing you.

“Pony…?” Johnny asked, all concerned with his big, black eyes. Do you think he has eyebrows?

I slapped my face. Speaking out loud again. “Sorry, man!”

Good thing Dally was too concerned with y/n to hear.

“Well, I gotta get going to my house, I just moved here.” Y/n said, and winked at us. I personally didn’t feel much. If I had thought she was attractive, I was over it now, now that I know she and Dally had a past. Dally is too rough and scary.

“Wait-” said Dally. He jumped up from leaning on the truck smoking a refreshing, sexy cigarette and ran after her. “Can I… uh… There’s a storm tonight. It’s gonna get bad.”

As they walked into the distance I could no longer hear what they were saying. But since this is a really good book, it will switch perspectives. Hit it!
