Chapter 1: Prologue...

Chapter Text

Holy stars above was Gem having an awful day.

Firstly her next big gig with her bandmates, Scott and Impulse was canceled because they weren't ‘mainstream enough’ like why would you book them if you want fucking Taylor

Swift to play at your 40th birthday. “Very stupid” Scott said earlier among a cacophony of him cursing out the party host and making them all laugh in the end.

Second, while they were out getting sandwiches, Impulse always got that weird tasting mayo and insisted she had bad tastebuds, Gem’s sandwich stuff fell out. Like, was she being punished for being vegetarian? She got consolation cookies from a nearby bakery, courtesy of Scott so it was ok.

And third, least important honestly… did she forget to mention they were all kidnapped by FUCKING ALIENS?! OH YEAH HOW COULD SHE FORGET. That was the most problemy problem of all!!! Not apart from her sandwich.

So the band was all together and were walking to their shared home, about to go practice for their next gig when a blinding purple light encased them all and pulled them up, up, up into the clouds. It made a wave of intense nausea overtake her and she shared one last glance with her bandmates, her friends, her life that she wouldn't trade for anything.

Sharing one last hopeful and reassurative glance before the purple light faded just as fast as it appeared and left them in oppressive darkness.

And her awful day ended by being picked up by aliens on her walk home.

~~~
Scott’s head hurt. It did not help that he was already nursing a violent headache on his walk home with his bandmates and a way too bright purple light only served to aggravate it. The absolute fear on Gem and Impulse’s face was immeasurable and he felt the exact same way.
Why do shitty things only get worse on bad days? Genuinely though, being picked up by tall, winged, many eyed aliens was not on his yearly bingo card.
When the lights flickered back on he squinted a bit as his eyes readjusted to the lights but he and the others were in a cell of sorts and were being stared at by the aliens. Their watching was horrid and gazing over to Gem and Imp they were not faring much better.
It was cold and the things that took them were leaving now. To do what he couldn't fathom.
When he voiced this concern to the others he was met with Impulse regailing them with the things an alien would probably do.
~~~

“Like if they planned to keep us they would need to sort out some food and water for us and considering I couldn't see their mouths I’m guessing they might do some trial and error. And they must have a reason for taking us, right?” Impulse pondered aloud.

Scott, ever the logical one, said how they might experiment on them all. Or worse.

Gem shuddered and shuffled closer to them both then yanked them into a group hug. This would either be an unpleasant experience or they would be in for the rest of their lives.

“What do we do if they come back?” Impulse asked softly and there was silence as they all considered this.

“Fight. I’m not letting these things touch us.” Gem said with a small yet fierce desire for her freedom and Impulse shared the sentiment.

He wanted to be back on Earth, eating sandwiches, hitting the local arcade, getting drunk with cheap alcohol and playing music with his friends. His family.

Meanwhile on different ships, when other Watchers discovered how violent humans truly were and how mindless they could seem, the inclination to experiment on them was indulged. Soon the galaxy would fear the names of the Humans.

Fear the destructive and loyal traits they possessed and fear the things they could do.
