"Was there any doubt?" Nightwing asked, with a certainty he didn't feel, wondering whose damned wedding this could be.
" Well, of course no. You knew them for ages, you saw shit. You will be extra happy to be Batman’s best man.”
Nightwing felt his heart sink. "Batman's best man..."
Cyborg didn't seem to notice his discomfort, and continued, "Well, congratulations. I'm still hurt, but I'm glad those two finally worked things out. And I'm happy for you. You always wanted Superman to be your stepdad. I bet when you found out, nine-year-old you screamed like a..."
Dick didn't hear the rest of the sentence. A long white noise had replaced Victor's words, his legs feeling like curd.
Bruce was getting married. And Dick didn't know anything.

"So you hate me too."
Damian's voice was firm, yet with a note of pain that shouldn't have been there, tugged at Dick's heart.
"What? Dami, no..." the confusion that made its way into him. He was angry, of course, but not with Damian. Never with him.
"Believe me, of all of us, Dickhead isn't the one who hates you," Jason interjected, unhelpfully, to be honest.
Dick glared at him, as if to say, "Do you think this is the time to joke?" when Damian said, "He has to. Hate me, I mean. He hates Father, after all."
(After a mission gone wrong with the Titans, Dick go to the Manor to fight with Bruce. Unfortunately, Damian is also there.)

"I'm calm," Clark lied shamelessly, clenching his fists and trying to smile, but there was something wrong with his face, something too stiff, "See? I am serene and perfectly calm."
"If you pierce Prince Xerxes' head with your damn laser beams, Sinestro will find a way to ally with the Senordians, make them his Yellow Lanterns, and it will be a problem not only for Green Lanterns but for the entire galaxy."
(Batman is getting married, and Clark has to figure out why he's so upset that he's not the groom.)

A column of earth came between them, separating them. Bruce looked at him annoyed, no recognition in his gaze. Clark wanted to scream, "It's me. We were best friends. We were more. I loved you. I know you did too. I failed you. I left you when you needed me. I'm sorry. Please remember me..."
Instead, as he had done so many, too many times before, he said nothing. Bryce was right to laugh at him. He was such a coward.
"Dad?"
"Yes, Terry...let's go..."
Clark saw him turn away, his body doing nothing, his voice caught in his throat.
It was Dick who took action.
"We're here for you."
"I already said I'm not enlisting..."
"You're the Avatar!"
