“Apollo took your memories?” he asked, his voice already promising a threat, but his eyes promising war.
Evangeline shrugged.
“It doesn’t matter anymore,” she said, trying to pull free from Jacks’s grip. She lifted a hand to push his arms from her shoulders, but when she saw his eyes widen, she instantly regretted it and tried to pull back. But Jacks already had her wrist, and with his other hand he gently traced the bruises on her skin. He couldn’t believe what he was seeing.“He did this to you?” he asked, barely recognizing his own voice.

He sighed, stalking behind her, looking her up and down, checking her bindings. She cursed internally as he yanked at the ropes around her wrists with a tug, shoulders slumping in temporary defeat.
“You know,” she sputtered, "You can’t just tie people up and whisk them wherever you want them."
“Is that so? And who’s gonna stop me?” he asked, his lips brushing against her ear, amusement painting his voice.

“You're mine,” Jacks breathed.
