Willie squeezes his hand. "Do you want to talk about what happened today, or do you wanna go watch me crash and fall off my skateboard at the park while I try some gazelle flips?"
Alex laughs. "I want to talk."
"Okay. Take your time, okay? We've got all the time in the world, yeah?"
"Two days ago my mom told me my grandmother was in town and wanted to meet with me," Alex starts, not giving himself any more time to think. Willie's thumb traces circles on the back of his hand, comforting him. "I thought, maybe my grandmother wants to connect with her only remaining family. That's how it started out, too. It really seemed like that was her intention. But then she asked about—I can't even remember his full name. But she asked me about the prince of Beasiga. The prince of Beasiga, who was my father." Willie's thumb stops.

Luke finds out he's about to be deported back to Canada. A panicked lie leads them to fake a relationship to get married so he can stay in the country. Despite working together for two years they aren't close but a trip to Alaska to visit Julie's family might change that

Alex processes this for a minute, before smiling serenely. “Okay. Yeah, okay. That's... why not?”
or : Alex is the brand new roommate. Willie is the random dude his friends are letting crash in the bathtub. No, he's not a roommate, according to Luke, because he doesn't pay rent. Alex has a lot of questions.
