Andrew could practically see the image of Neil sleeping on his chest, one of the pairs of shoes he'd bought still lying there in bed with them. Neil looked so peaceful, Andrew couldn't stop looking at him. His hand was right on Neil's belly, he could almost imagine what the girls' heartbeats were like there.
Neil had sung a song that night, and Andrew memorized every note because, someday, he would also sing that same song for Neil and his daughters.

Summary
“I don’t want to be Courted,” Andrew finally answered. “If I were ever to enter a Courting Season, I would be a Courtier.” Neil sat back against the sofa looking contemplative. His silence only served to further agitate Andrew’s nerves. Whether or not Neil was aware, he had the power in these next few moments to destroy Andrew with his response.
Neil took a breath, and then slowly said, “I suppose, then, I would not mind being Courted.” He looked up to make direct eye contact with Andrew, “If it were the right person, of course.”

Neil licked his lips and Andrew’s gaze tracked the movement with the efficiency of a predator. Neil glanced at the fangs again, then down to his bare forearm, then to the fuzzy carpet that laid under the coffee table.
“Neil,” Andrew’s voice was firm, demanding complete attention. Neil met his eyes once again, encapsulated, “You can say no.”
Neil shook his head lightly. Took a deep breath.
“I want to,” And he was surprised that he wasn’t lying.

Neil accepts a deal to exchange his blood for extra cash. It goes both exactly the way he expects, and veers totally off track.
