Summary
Richie lets out a small, startled gasp when the door opens and floods the carrier with bright and brilliant sunlight. Eddie can’t quite see his face, angled too much in the wrong direction, but he can hear it when Richie wordlessly starts to cry. Eddie is suddenly viscerally desperate to get them off of there, to put Richie in the sunlight where he belongs and out of the clothes that no longer fit him right. Eddie squeezes Richie’s hand as best as he can. Richie finally turns to him, giving him a small and reassuring smile. His eyes are red and tears still stain his cheeks and Eddie cannot get enough of him, the golden hue of him only illuminated by the sunlight.

They all crowd around Eddie's bed, their faces shimmering a little. Eddie has to squint to make out their features, and he laughs once he does. They all look so worried. Eddie feels great.
"Oh my God," Stan says, at the same time that Richie says, "He's high."

Summary
Richie does something terminally reckless, Stan has had enough. He offers Richie a chance to talk without jokes or Voices getting in the way.
"Suddenly this doesn't feel like a condemnation or a dismissal. This feels like an olive branch, a hand extended and if it isn't fucking terrifying Richie guesses it wouldn't be worth the effort of reaching for.
Stan's steps are getting fainter and it's this, not the idea of explaining himself, that heralds the bad feelings rising in him again, so Richie does what comes naturally. He forgoes thought and lets his body lead the charge. His animal instinct wants to follow Stan so he does."

"Fuck," Richie gasps.
"What happened?" Eddie tries. Richie just presses his clammy hands against his face and exhales, trying to calm his pounding heart and the grenade that just went off in his brain.
"I opened the door for Stan," Richie says, staring down the drain. "When I brought him back. I opened the door to oblivion. The book showed me how to open the door." He looks up at Eddie. "It didn't show me how to close the door."
"Fuck," Eddie echoes.

Eddie just stands there, open mouthed. He’s sure he doesn’t know this person, and he’s sure that there’s no one who’s ever called him Eddie Spaghetti. He stares at the guy, about his age, tall and gangly, with longish curly black hair, huge glasses, and a crooked smile. “I’m sorry, I don’t…”
“I’m Richie. Richie Tozier. We used to go to middle school together, didn't we? About a million years ago?”
