He did not have a mask nor a blindfold. He observed the gallery, avoided looking at his father, and knelt before the guillotine like it was his divine right.
He turned his head to watch L. It was difficult to make out what he might be thinking. It wasn’t hard to discern the anger in his eyes, but there was far more there, layers and layers of things that L simply hadn’t had enough time with him to disentangle. Every thought, every emotional response, L wanted to understand, but there was no—

If Light was allowed to go through with his plan, whatever it was, L would have died. He knows this.
