Summary
The Sunshot Campaign has begun in earnest. Jiang Cheng (now Lan Xinyue) waits for Lan Xichen whenever he returns to Cloud Recesses, always looking forward to the moments they can steal together.
Distrust is rife: during a rushed meeting at Qinghe, Jiang Cheng's identity is called into question, and it is only with Lan Qiren's intervention that he is saved from revealing himself. Unexpectedly, Jiang Cheng ends up having an impromptu heart-to-heart with Meng Yao, forming the tentative beginnings of a new friendship. Lan Xichen misreads the situation, compelling Jiang Cheng to clarify the nature of their relationship and to finally confess his feelings.

Lan Huan is a solid wall at his back, hands cradling Jiang Cheng’s form but also caressing the baby bump – he’s starting to show now that he’s in 3 months now.
He never thought this could be his life two years ago, when he was sent off to the Gusu Lan as a warprize – they called it sending a diplomatic representative for a marriage alliance, to help ensure good relations between the two countries after a strenuous war, but Jiang Cheng knew, can clearly remember being barely dressed in lavish blue silks – not even purple, blue - and gold accessories, the chain of gems adorning his head declaring his status as a Nuver – a bearer. He was obviously sent off as a warprize, a decorated little thing to warm the bed of the Jade Emperor or one of the Jade princes.

He was a little disappointed he had to come here for a blind date, because the singer of the band on stage is hot as hell and might have been looking his way for a while. Jiang Cheng can’t tell for sure, but he does know there’s not a lot of people in this corner and he’s the only one watching the stage.
