Summary
After Cloud kills Sephiroth for what he hopes is the last time, he starts having strange dreams. He's reliving memories, but not his own—the memories he sees belong to Zack, and all of them involve Sephiroth, showing Cloud the man he was before his fall from grace.
Cloud grows conflicted after he realizes that he's begun to grieve not for the man Sephiroth had been, but for the chance he'd lost at knowing that man. Second chances are rare, but when Aerith gives him one, Cloud chooses not the man that Zack had known, not the nightmare he himself had experienced, but the person that Sephiroth is now.
