Summary
Cloud is a full-time student, part-time employee at Seventh Heaven. He's wrapped up in grieving the death of his mom, even after so many years, not wanting to move on and forget her. On the 9th anniversary of her death he buys her flowers. He does every year, but this year he chooses a flower shop close by. They keep running into each other - or, more accurately, Aerith keeps noticing him and going out of her way to say hello. Cloud can never turn down a conversation, even though he's not much of a talker. He never found himself very friendly, but she seems to think more of him.
[This fic is written in FIRST-PERSON; most chapters will be Cloud's POV, but there are intermittently Aerith's POV chapters!]

When Squall learns that Cloud has some experience with firearms, he takes Cloud out to practice some shooting drills with the promise that if Cloud does well enough to impress him, he'll give the young man a chance to wield his gunblade. Cloud doesn't know how well he'll fair, but he's eager to try.

He figured he could maintain that lie for a few years, visit here and there on his own, make excuses for his made-up boyfriend, and then when he graduated, he could just say they broke up.
Unfortunately, this plan does not come to fruition. Instead, Cloud's mom invites Cloud and his self-invented boyfriend over for a weekend during the Summer.
He had to find someone who could pretend to be his boyfriend for a weekend - and actually convince his mom.
