Summary
Ruby Liu is a hardcore FF7 fan who also freelances as a programmer. After one fateful night, she is forced to enter the world of her beloved game and finds a new world both familiar yet unfamiliar. Apparently her old fanfics have become Gaia's cancer, brought about by the wrath of an old resident Summon thought lost to time. And to top it all off, she's drawn the ire and intrigue of Sephiroth, who seeks new purpose for the realm lovingly dubbed the Debug Room and even bullies her as a de facto editor in this new story of Gaia.
But the Rulers of the Outer Realms are always watching. Order must be preserved, lest the ancient wars of cataclysm resurge.
(Rewrite of FF7 Original & Remake where game mechanics, sidequest lore, easter eggs, OG concept drafts, and even the game's code may be integrated into the plot. Vincent shifted, so slightly that it was nearly unnoticeable, but it was as if a magnet aligned him to her. Tifa's throat went dry and she had the strangest urge to see if his cheeks felt as soft as they looked.
He understood her. He could see the way she pushed herself to be more, to be better, to be stronger. He could see how deeply she cared for everyone and how badly Tifa abhorred the idea of being a hindrance or having others fuss over her. If Vincent saw himself in Tifa, he likely imagined her trailing down a path of disappointment and sorrow. Perhaps, that was true. Tifa most certainly felt like it. She was suffocating underneath the guilt she felt for surviving, when so many others didn’t.

Realizing now that as long as Sephiroth lingers in the Lifestream, all he has to do is win ONCE to destroy all life on the Planet, Nanaki, centuries down the line, decides on a desperate plan - to use the White Materia to beg the Planet to send him back in time to excise Sephiroth from the Lifestream before he can metastasize.
...In another life, Nanaki has talked his way out of Hojo's lab (except for the necessary check-ups he forgets as often as he can) to work with the Turks, which would be all good if the errant voice that whispers to him in his mind hadn't forced him to sit up and take notice of a mercenary defending the last Ancient, and if he hadn't been tasked with a monstrous mission that has him looking for the exit.
His escape lands him with a band of ecoterrorists, a mercenary, and said last Ancient, one of whom his errant whisper insists is IMPORTANT to him, meaning he's stuck with them until he can piece it all together and save the Planet.

Transported to a strange land where nothing is what it seems, his only hope at making it to the center of the labyrinth is to rely on his wits and determination; and maybe some help from a strange degrading man, a terrifying beast, and a talking cat and dog.
Time is of the essence, lest Cloud lose Zack-and himself-to the Goblin King forever.
In other words, this is a sefikura version of Labyrinth with Cloud as Sarah, Sephiroth as Jareth, and Zack replacing Toby. No knowledge of Labyrinth is required to read/enjoy this story, although I do highly recommend watching the film regardless! It's just so dang good!
