Yet he can breathe. Under water. The mere thought short circuits Tommy’s brain.
There’s another coo, so soothing and gentle that it brings Tommy back to the present quickly. Like it were softly calling his attention, like a parent or something, but Tommy isn’t sure how he knows that.
Still, he tries to speak. Just because he can apparently breathe underwater, doesn’t mean he isn’t scared out of his fucking mind.
What’s going on? He wants to ask. What happened? But all that comes out is a series of weird chirping sounds, getting higher and louder and more frantic as Tommy begins to panic again.
Or, you don't take potions from giant alien mermaids you've only known for like 3 months.

Summary
Tubbo leaves for a month and a half trip with his family leaving Tommy alone. Tommy is sure he'll be fine, but then his parents comments begin getting to him. It's the small things, telling him they're proud of the way Tommy's learned to hide his wings and supress his instiuncts, telling him that they're happy he's finally learned to be normal.
Then a new kid walks into school, his name is Ranboo, a magpie. Tommy quickly gets attatched and soon enough they're best friends, trusting each other with secrets in the dead of night. When Ranboo catches on to what Tommy's parents tell him, he's there for Tommy, reminding him that he's loved, that he's perfect the way he is.

Summary
Tommy used to have a family. He used to have a mom and a dad, but they didn't love him very much. They hated everything he was, all because of his wings.
And when they kicked him out, Tommy just wished they had given him at least a week's heads-up. Thankfully though, Wilbur overheard him complaining about it at lunch and immediately insisted Tommy stay with his family.
That was a month ago, and Tommy was still struggling to break the habits that his parents had instilled in him to hide his hybrid half. He suppressed his chirps, barely preened his wings, and worst of all pushed away the nesting instinct. But this time around, his family was having none of it.
They showed Tommy there was nothing wrong with who he was and taught him to be free.
All because they loved him

Summary
Everyday Tommy woke up in his dingy one-person apartment and went to school to go to the only place he felt at home. With Tubbo, Ranboo, Phil Wilbur and Techno.
And yet, he felt so alone.
There was no one to make him dinner when he got home or to tuck him into bed. Or even anyone to talk about his problems.
But it was for a reason.
He had wings, wings that had once been beautiful. But after his parents had kicked him out for them, he stopped caring about them. Wishing they would go away.
And he was determined to make sure no one else left him, and if his parents had hated him for his wings, then he would make sure no one ever found out.
But then they do.
He loves them, they're his flock. And all he can do is hope they love him back when it all starts falling apart.

A wrist was pressed against his mouth. “Drink,” Technoblade said into his ear, and any lingering hope that he might just kill him here or better yet just let him die from his injuries instead of dragging him back to their sire withered away. Tommy kept his mouth shut. “Drink, now, or you’re going to die.”
Scorned fledglings either had a sympathetic adult vampire take them on as a substitute sire or died. The first was not an option for Tommy. Everyone knew the moment he managed to wiggle out of the cruel grip of his own sire that helping him was a death sentence. In fact, coming face to face with any vampire meant getting dragged back to those who'd laid claim to his blood. Few wanted to go against the Sleepy Coven; all wanted to gain favor with them. His fate was to die on the street at best. At worst... well, that's why he’d ran.
Yet, he ended up blessed by circumstance (for once) with a third option curtesy of his best friend Tubbo whose hands were stained with magic and who was willing to do what was necessary to keep him alive, bloodsucker or not.
(I adore all of the Dark SBI vampire fics, but I'm also a wimp, so I want it to all be a horrible misunderstanding and for them to all hug at the end.)

Noxious stares at him, the eyes of his gas mask blank as ever, but his rigid stance and slack shoulders betray his shock.
“...Tommy?”
It’s said in shock and disbelief, so quietly and broken. You wouldn’t think it was this feared and dangerous villain who said it.
But Tommy’s heart jumps all the same, eyes blown wide in shock and fear. “How do you-”
How do you know my name?
“It can’t be,” the villain is saying, just as quiet. “No. It can’t be. This-” a hysterical laugh. “This must be some sort of sick joke.”
The villain stops his rambling as he stares at the hero before him. A few long moments pass, atmosphere tense, before Noxious slowly brings his hand up to his face…
There’s a click, hiss, before the mask falls away.
Tommy stops, and stares, eyes wide and jaw slack.
The face of his best friend stares back.
-Tommy and Tubbo are childhood friends who both share a dream. One day they are forcefully separated, and they end up on opposite sides of the same war, completely different people than they used to be.
