“Mn.”
“So. Do we..talk about what kind of curse this might be, or do we actually talk about..other things?”
“What other things?” Lan Zhan is fairly certain he knows what sort of things Wei Ying has in mind, ridiculous man that he is, but he also knows how quickly Wei Ying will flounder and fold with churlish grumbling if pushed anywhere remotely close to emotional vulnerability. Perhaps he shouldn’t find it as charming as he does.

Wei Wuxian situated himself close to the fire and allowed the heat to spread through his body, gently unknotting the worst of the tension and chill from the road.
“So, what brings you to Gusu? Business with the Lans?”
“No, not business. I have an old friend in Cloud Recesses. A very good friend.” Wei Wuxian paused, marshalling his thoughts. “The last time I visited, I…” His thoughts were proving harder to marshall than he thought, twisting and slipping away from long avoided scrutiny. “I behaved foolishly. Which isn’t like me at all.” Wei Wuxian laughed unconvincingly. “Then, and this very much is like me, I just…left.”
“Ah, well. Not to worry. The Lans are good people. I’m sure you’ll have no bother working it out, especially with a good friend. Good friends forgive us our mistakes. Now, will there be anything else?”
Wei Wuxian shook his head and kept staring at his drink as the innkeeper moved away. He drank the whole cup abruptly, closing his eyes against the sting of liquor and keeping them closed. Good friends forgive us our mistakes, the innkeeper had said. They certainly do, thought Wei Wuxian. And they just keep on forgiving.
He sat and watched the fire for a long time.

Summary
If censorship was no longer an issue, what would an in-universe, realistic Wangxian finale look like? Keeping in the style of the show, and the style of romance presented in other C-dramas, this is my attempt at writing what would be a hypothetical Epilogue episode (Episode 51)!
This picks up right where The Untamed leaves off. After a year away, Wei Ying returns to Gusu to catch up with an old friend before continuing on with his adventures. This trip, however, does not go as planned...
(Also feat. post-show reconciliations & relationships with Lan Sizhui, Wen Ning, Lan Xichen, Lan Qiren, Jin Ling, and Jiang Cheng. (Comfort (and some angst) for everyone!!)

Lan Wangji is so preoccupied on one of his precious, rare nighthunts with Wei Wuxian that he does not feel it when a tiny, quiet curse latches onto him.

"The name of the song," Wei Wuxian says, like it should be obvious, and he brings Chenqing to his lips, plays the first few notes of their song, and Lan Wangji's heart plummets into his stomach. "Does it have one?" Wei Wuxian goes on, when he puts the flute down again.
Lan Wangji needs to swallow two, three times to get rid of the lump in his throat and before he feels that he can speak without his voice breaking.
"It used to," he finally admits and he hasn't anticipated the pain that admittance causes. "Now I'm not sure anymore."
