Summary
Getting out of Kongokaku alive took everything they had. Hunters, refugees, survivors; and there was that little matter of torches back in Kongokaku.... Now what?
(Inspired in part by wondering if Biba wasn't lying, and there is a medicine for Kabaneri....)

EXQUISITE BAMF WRITING STYLE 🤌✨
*
Kongokaku had prided itself on being pure. Untouched by the Kabane. People who ran Hayajiro, who had to face and fight the hordes through every mountain pass and abandoned station - they were as far from pure as a child of Kongokaku could imagine.
*
“Of course, we couldn’t expect you to trust us right away,” Ayame went on. “Many of my people are very angry with you. Ikoma wants your Hunters to stay away from Mumei. And - we all miss Takumi.”
Yes. We do. Mumei fingered the edge of her kunai, wanting to stab someone all over again. She missed the panicky steamsmith. More than she’d ever thought. And Ikoma missed him like a hole in his heart, missed him enough to leave his glasses, and that was just not right.
*
Takumi funeral
*
the amount of lethal intent currently staring at him might have rocked a Kabane back on its heels. Child to bushi, those atop this locomotive meant to protect Ayame with their lives.
Which was incredibly odd. Bushi were trained to be that fierce. But the look he was getting from the pale young man with a blue sling, an odd green ribbon at his neck, and what had to be a townsman’s borrowed shirt... where had a steamsmith learned to project lethal intent?
Dogen stared at the glowing sword. “...from an iron cage?”
“You have to refine it, or the coating won’t be strong enough to pierce the heart cage,” Ikoma stated. “And it’s not just iron. There are other metals, and something organic. If we had a proper metallurgist....”
“We have you,” Ayame said firmly.
“And we shoot them.” Mumei smiled. “With jet bullets, it only takes one shot.”
A steamsmith learning kenjutsu would be an outrage, a scandal.
*
Harsh as it was, Ikoma had done the world a damn good turn. When the Kokujou went, all Biba’s crazy scientists had gone with it. No scientists, no colony heart, no Black Blood.
“I say we help them,” Uryuu forged on. “I say we teach them. Because if a bunch of station refugees on a Hayajiro can learn that....”
*
Ayame still thought adopting Ikoma to Kurusu's clan as the best plan.
“Two people who can fight the Kabane hand to hand, who aren’t bushi? It’ll draw eyes.” He paused. “Now, three young bushi insane enough to clear a Hayajiro’s top with no harness - well, everyone knows clan Katsuragi’s a touch crazy.”
3
“You know,” Kibito said thoughtfully. “How?”
“Even in the depths of the Black Blood, Ikoma never forgot what he was.” Kurusu stood proud. "Ikoma’s cage has been fed. Cared for. Protected - for if Kabane are aware enough to be enraged, it knows all other Kabane are its enemy. With us, it can live.”
Er. That was... Uryuu’d never thought... the damn samurai couldn’t be serious.
*
Sling, rifle, and the cranky look of a steamsmith who really wanted to say screw it, and bring out a bigger hammer.
*
“Safe-!” Dogen started.
And stopped himself. Studying Ayame very intently. “Who created these bullets?”
Ayame smiled. “Why, one of our young steamsmiths, Uncle. Would you be interested in seeing the designs?”
“...Perhaps later,” Elder Makino said stiffly.
“If you think so,” Ayame inclined her head. “He is a bit... shy, when dealing with nobles.”
If Kibito broke out laughing, Kurusu would have to hit someone. Ikoma and shy did not belong in the same sentence. Distracted, yes. More capable of dealing with steam than manners, certainly. Shy? Hah. Tell that to anyone who’d seen the carnage of Kabane Ikoma left behind.
*
Adopt a steamsmith? Ikoma hated combat training. He did it, yes; which had to be the strongest testament to his hatred of the Kabane, given Mumei’s idea of training was to beat Ikoma into the car floor - or the wall, or the pells - until he mimicked her and used that move right back.
Ikoma would train. But he’d rather be up to his ears in steam and metal. Who were they to take that from him, when Ikoma had lost so much already?
*
“Wait. Are you saying, when I was out of it...?”
“You were sleepy, grumpy, and very persistent. A cat.”
Oh no.
“You really think his Kabane knows us,” Ayame said softly.
*
Honey is the medicine
*
"Simply trading the design for jet bullets will not be enough.”
“No, it won’t be,” Ayame agreed. “Not without an example.” This. This was the moment that might break everything. “What if the folk of the Koutetsujou became that example? What if we - all of us who are willing to live beyond walls - keep traveling?”

Summary
Naruto is not the only Academy graduate without clan heritage, but he is the only ninja in years to graduate without any talent. His generation is filled with geniuses and everyone is convinced Naruto does not stand a chance keeping up with them. If he wants to be Hokage, and he does, he will just have to train a dozen times harder than everyone else.
This story got inspired by an observation that, for a story supposedly about born-a-genius Sasuke versus hard-work Naruto, Sasuke sure trains hard and Naruto is born with a lot of advantages. So, here’s a rewrite of canon where Naruto is born with only disadvantages and he becomes the best ninja that has ever lived through stubborn hard work. Most ninja are blessed with ‘talent’ from spirit animals who will eventually become their summons, and greatly decrease the amount of effort it takes for them to learn new skills. Naruto is cursed instead.

“But it was so meaningful! So romantic! So loving!”
“It was so inappropriate.” Mizuke rubbed the bridge of his nose. “I can understand your Henge fooling me into thinking you’re an adult when I’m drunk, but how did the doorman, the barman and every single ninja in that bar get fooled too?”
“There’s a reason it’s my specialty.” Naruto grinned.

Ebisu looked over all the notes. “I might have overdone it. This looks like it’s close to a year of material.”
Naruto made a widely different estimate. “Thank you for all the help.”

N: That’s easy. I’m taking out the ever-growing shit list and I’m visiting every single one of them. There will be much mocking and rubbing into people’s faces. There will be some getting back at them with Hokage powers, if they did something bad enough.
S: And after that?
N: Live happily.

And years from now we’ll have fallen in love with other people and we’ll laugh and reminisce with our unofficial partners about those spectacular failures of us trying to be more than friends. And when you are ready to pass on the title of clan leader, we can divorce and marry the people we really love.”

"The Academy teachers wouldn’t explain. So I went straight to the source of all knowledge, ‘The Professor’ by all of the village, and bribed my way into answers with food and games."
"You had plans for when you were Hokage.”
“Tons.” Naruto smiled. “All far too revolutionary for someone who doesn’t want to rock the boat.”
“I’d still like to hear them. You’ll need to learn how to sell these ideas. Visit me weekly. We'll play."

“My third request is that you do not harm any human and it is conditional for the third thing I can offer you. I will champion for your freedom after my death. I will argue against Konoha so that my body will be the last that imprisons you.”
“I will promise to protect your four closest friends if I am released in their presence with as much enthusiasm and priority as you give to protecting the points of coalescence. I will promise to refrain from harming any Konoha citizen depending on the degree that you can return my body to its original shape. Your last promise will take too long. But I am interested. I will promise not to harm a single human except in self-defence, so long as you release me willingly and without trickery on your 40th birthday.”

Summary
Zoro is drenched in sweat already, but at least with his haki holding Luffy’s at bay he isn’t suffocating. And Luffy, damn him, looks completely unruffled.
“Is it fun yet?” He asks.
No, none of this is fucking fun. Zoro feels sick to his stomach and he wants to sink his teeth into Luffy’s neck.
.
.
.
No one told Zoro that having the qualifications of a king meant having the instincts of one too.-

Chopper’s already wet eyes threaten to overflow. “What I’m imagining, if I let you through this door, is how I am going to have to piece together my captain and my big brother.”
“Fuck, come on,” Zoro says, exhaling angrily. “Don’t pull the brother card on me, that’s hardly fair.”
“I will!” Chopper protests. “I’ll cheat and I’ll trick and I’ll get as dirty as I have to in order to keep you alive, because I am this ship’s doctor and a filthy pirate, and I love you too much to let you do this.”
And then, because apparently he’s gone stupid from stress, “I love you.”
“Hee hee.” Chopper’s smile feels real now even if Zoro wants to shove himself in a trash compactor from the cringe of it all.
*
He had to deal with this prickling irritation on the back of his neck, alerting him danger, holy fuck danger with neon flashing arrows pointing at Luffy.
As if Zoro didn’t know how dangerous Luffy was.
Zoro would strangle him to death if he wasn’t, like, Zoro’s whole world.
Zoro is Luffy’s. He has always been Luffy’s weapon to wield. Back when they began in a glorified fishing boat, he had grudgingly attuned himself to Luffy’s breath and heartbeat so he would know when Luffy had gone too quiet and was planning something stupid. Or if his presence was gone completely and therefore almost certainly sinking like a rock in the ocean.
*
He curls his toes in his boots in an effort to stay in place.
“Zoro is mutinying?” Luffy asks, still not looking at him.
Right thing to say. Zoro is suddenly so mad he can’t see straight. “Do you really, seriously, for a second think that’s what this is about?” He spits with such venom it takes him by surprise.
“Sorry,” Luffy says. “No, I don’t.”
He finally turns to look at Zoro. And when Zoro meets Luffy’s eyes, he sees the same thoughts and desires that have been haunting him reflected in his captain’s eyes. Only Luffy isn’t tormented. He is resolute, curious, excited even. “I shouldn’t joke like that when Zoro has suffered.”
Zoro closes his eye.
The acknowledgement untangles a couple of the knots in Zoro’s chest. Luffy knew, after all. He understood. A part of Zoro had feared Luffy somehow wouldn’t know, and that he would be hurt by Zoro’s challenge. Betrayed, as Zoro feels he is betraying Luffy.
When he opens his eye Luffy is still looking at him, holding Zoro in place as if Zoro was cupped in his hands. And once he has Zoro’s full attention, he lets his eyes drift up and down Zoro’s body, taking in every detail of his swordsman like he had not since they woke up victorious.
This—this is different. Zoro goes stupidly hot, almost embarrassed by Luffy’s scrutiny.
“Zoro got so much stronger since I took my eyes off him,” Luffy says. “I shouldn’t have looked away.”
This isn’t right. Why now, why Luffy— “Don’t look at me like that. I’m not here to be scrutinized.”
Luffy’s eyes return to his sharply. “You would deny me?”
Holy shit. Zoro’s heart thuds, but there is a command in Luffy’s voice, a demand. His skin breaks out in goosebumps and the beast inside Zoro lashes its tail. It occurs to him, suddenly, that the battle has already begun.
*
“You’re so territorial,” Zoro says. He’s poking around the ship with his haki only to have Luffy mentally snap at him to back off. That’s his kitchen. His infirmary. His rudder. His (their) nakama.
“Zoro,” Luffy says, “is mine.”
He curls his lip in a snarl. “Zoro gave everything to me. That’s good; Zoro is strong. But that’s not what I was promised. I was promised the world’s strongest swordsman. And to keep his promise, Zoro will become king. Your heart told me.”
Zoro kisses Luffy bruisingly hard. When he lets go, fire licking at his heart, Luffy looks down on him with the condescension of a conqueror. Like an emperor. Oh fuck. Zoro’s stomach swoops at his daring.
Zoro thinks about Luffy when he’s supposed to be meditating and he slips into a memory of Luffy’s cute scrunchy nose, or his collarbones when he wore tank tops, or his stupidly strong chicken legs. Or his ass. Or having Luffy smiling and laughing over Zoro, twining their fingers in the hands Luffy is holding over Zoro’s head. Luffy whispering praises in Zoro’s ear before he leans down to lick and bite at the scars on Zoro’s chest.
“Ah.”
Zoro could kill himself. “Don’t. Don’t pay attention to any of that.” He doesn’t know how much Luffy got through their mingled haki, but he got enough to stop protesting.
He says so, but he can tell Luffy is both a little embarrassed and a little flattered.
“I don’t really get it but...Zoro loves me a lot.” Luffy wiggles his toes and doesn’t look Zoro in the eye. “I like that.”
Zoro rolls his eye. “Obviously. Lemme kiss you.”

"Instead of arguing, why don't we put it to a vote? Everyone who wants to hold off on destroying the Cup for whatever reason, raise your hand." Neville, Bella, Sirius, Regulus, and Buck all held up their hands. Harry nodded.
"Okay, now raise your hand if you want to destroy the Cup now, this very second." Snape, Rufus, Lucius, and Augusta all raised their hands.
"Gran!" Neville exclaimed as if betrayed.
"I'm sorry, Neville," Augusta said contritely, "but the risk is too great. Your parents were targeted by You-Know-Who because they had declared themselves to be his enemy. Frank would never forgive me if I hesitated to destroy a piece of his dark soul, even for a chance to heal both him and your mother."
"What about you, Harry?" Regulus asked. "Right now, it's 5-4 in favor of holding off. Either you vote with us and make it 6-4, or you vote to destroy it and we're tied."
Lucius snorted. "Shall we send someone for young Master Flint to cast a tie-breaker?"
"No," Harry said. "That won't be necessary."
Suddenly, before anyone could react, he shoved Regulus aside, nearly knocking him to the floor. Then, in a flash, he snatched up the Basilisk fang and plunged it into the Cup. Instantly, a deafening scream of pain and fury blasted out of the cursed chalice, followed by a billowing black cloud that rose up to cover the ceiling over the table. Bellatrix screamed and clutched her hands over her ears to block out the noise. Neville, Buck, and the Black brothers were also deeply affected, though not to such extremes. The other wizards present, though frightened, still had the wit to point their wands at the cloud even as angry red eyes appeared in the heart of it to glare at the room. But before anyone could cast a single spell, the malevolent scream faded away and the cloud dissolved, the blood-red eyes simply fading away.
"Bloody hell," Regulus muttered shakily as Snape rushed to a quivering Sirius to force a Calming Draught down his throat.
"Harry!" Neville cried out reproachfully. "How could you! You were the one who wanted a vote in the first place!"
"Yes," Harry answered without taking his eyes off the melted hunk of slag that had been the fabled Cup of Helga Hufflepuff. "And the results of that vote were as follows: Everyone in the room who has strong Occlumency defenses wanted to destroy the horcrux immediately, while everyone who didn't was making excuses for keeping it around indefinitely until we could figure out how to use it."
A chill descended over the room as the five who'd voted to keep the Cup intact realized to their horror the subtlety of the horcrux's manipulation. Buck let out a low whistle.
"Well," he said. "That's bloody creepy, that is."
*
Harry leaned forward in his chair. "Here's my counter-offer: Eleven million!"
*
"Today, you came to us, warned us of the Prophecy you had heard, and disclaimed the role of Prince, a position for which you have worked diligently since the moment you became aware of it. You sacrificed your ambitions for the Greater Good. Not the facile Greater Good of weak pretenders who mouth those words only as a way to rationalize their own misdeeds. The true Greater Good only comes from the sacrifice of self for the benefit of all. The highest purpose of the Prince of Slytherin is to subordinate one's own goals and desires to the betterment of both this House and this World. And by seeking to withdraw your claim to this office for selfless reasons, you only proved your fitness for it. I find you worthy."
Harry stared at the Throne, dumbfounded. "I … I withdrew my name because there's a Prophecy saying that THE WHOLE WORLD MIGHT BE DESTROYED IF I BECOME PRINCE!"
"We are aware of this," Rajah said casually, as if the matter were a minor inconvenience. "We recommend you make averting this Prophecy and saving the world from destruction an important priority for your administration. The Throne is yours … Prince Harry Potter."
*
"Is Mr. Black correct, Court Reporter?"
"Huh?! Oh! So sorry. Um … yes. The Book now recognizes the young man as Hadrian Remus Black Lord Wilkes."

PS. The Dursleys raised Harry properly ... for a few months. Then, they went STARK RAVING NUTS, became convinced that Harry was some sort of demon-child. Also: What if Dumbledore was right? What if telling an already traumatized 11-year-old child that he has to be the one to kill Voldemort and no one else can do it is a terrible idea? Thus, Jim Potter, who learned nearly all of the Prophecy in the last chapter of Year One, has basically gone all Bruce Wayne and decided that he shall train like mad until he is a match for Voldemort. The problem, of course, is that, unlike Bruce Wayne, Jim's not the protagonist :)
"You and I are as free as Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden, Harry Potter. But if you read Genesis closely, you will note that it never says how much time passed between the moment God forbade them and the moment they defied. Was it a day? A month? A hundred years? However long it was, the Forbidden Tree was always there, waiting for them patiently. So it is with True Prophecies."
*
He'd been expecting conventional fears – monsters, wild animals, things like that. It had left him deeply uncomfortable to realize that over half the people in Harry's study group had boggart-fears manifesting as family members or which were otherwise related to generally traumatic childhoods. He'd never fully grasped just how ... sheltered his upbringing had been.
*
"I HATE YOU! I HATE YOU! I WISH YOU'D STAYED WITH THE DURSLEYS AND DIED THERE!"
*
"But you, Harry? For someone who was actively prevented from getting a good primary education, you're awfully well-spoken."
*
"But then, of course, you already knew that, didn't you, Chief Auror Scrimgeour? You know perfectly well that Jim's innocent and that someone's framing him. But you also dislike our father, and pretending that Jim's a viable suspect allows you to jerk James Potter around a bit."
There was dead silence in the room for several seconds. James looked back and forth from Harry to Scrimgeour as if he couldn't decide which one to be angry with. Finally, the Chief Auror laughed loudly and slapped his knee. "Tell me, Mr. Potter. Have you considered the Auror Academy yourself? We need more clever people in the service. There's about to be a shortage of that, I think."
*
Harry Potter was suddenly amazed to realize that he'd taken down five older students singlehandedly in less than three seconds. He looked down at his wand in wonder, while behind him, Ginny and Amy just stared slackjawed. Jim was equally astonished.
"What ... you ... what ... HOW?!" Jim babbled.
*
"IT'S AN ANAGRAM?" Jim actually jumped at the force of Harry's exclamation. "I just thought is was bad French! But do you mean to tell me that the Great and Terrible Lord Voldemort got his name from an anagram when he was a teenager?! What happened? Did you get bored in History of Magic and say to yourself 'I swear, if Binns talks about Goblin Wars one more time, I'll go mad and become a genocidal Dark Lord!' I've got even less respect for Tom Riddle and Voldemort both than I had before I came down here!"
*
"Sssspeak to me...!"
"SILENCIO!"
Instantly, Tom Riddle whirled around in a rage.
"Oh. Ooooooh! Of course! I see it now!" Harry started pacing excitedly. "You're not Voldemort's diary! You're Voldemort's first draft! His prototype!"
*
Harry looked him squarely in the eyes, dropped all of his Occlumency defenses, and thought as clearly as he could "Please, let me handle this." Dumbledore's face remained impassive, but on the other side of him, Scrimgeour suddenly turned to look towards Harry and then tilted his head slightly.
"It seems to me that House Malfoy and House Weasley have a mutual enemy here."
*
Scrimgeour sipped. "Do you think the boy has any idea that he's a natural Legilimens?"
Dumbledore coughed delicately. "I very much doubt it."
*
"It was a horcrux?" Harry asked in clarification. Both men turned to look at him as if he'd just sprouted horns.
"As I believe I mentioned, Harry Potter," Regulus said after a long pause, "you are dangerously well-informed. How in the name of Morgana's lacy underthings did you ever learn that word?!"
Harry shrugged. "Actually, I picked it up less than an hour ago from Rufus Scrimgeour. The diary was another one."
"Imago ... Dei?" Lucius said weakly.
*
"What mindset is required to keep a horcrux?"
"An absolute certainty that out of the entire human race, your life is the only one with any value."

Summary
Harry Potter was Sorted into Slytherin after a crappy childhood. His brother Jim is believed to be the BWL. Think you know this story? Think again. Year Three (Harry Potter and the Death Eater Menace) starts on 9/1/16. NO romantic pairings prior to Fourth Year. Basically good Dumbledore and Weasleys. Limited bashing (mainly of James).

Until I started primary school at the age of six, I literally thought my name was 'freak' because that's what everyone called me. Uncle Vernon and Aunt Petunia had to sit me down the night before primary school started and explain that other people would call me Harry Potter."
*
"Oh, I'm sorry, Potter," she said sweetly. "I'm only a humble Muggleborn still in awe of the wonders of the magical world. And when I see a braying ass magically disguised as a Hogwarts student, I CAN'T HELP POINTING IT OUT!"
*
He still kept practicing with the holster for several minutes each day though ... for this exact moment.
Harry flicked his wrist down, and his wand shot out of his holster with a soft "snikt"and landed in the palm of his hand. Instantly, he snapped it back up directly into Malfoy's face, nearly touching the tip of his nose. The entire maneuver had taken half a second.
*
McGonagall closed her eyes and hissed. "A highly intelligent boy, abused by his relatives and likely threatened with worse if he ever showed up their slow-witted son academically. It's a miracle he never blew up his home or school with accidental magic. Is there anything else to discuss? If not, I should like to return to my quarters," she looked over at James with an icy expression, "and brood over my failures as a teacher." Potter's ears turned red at the rebuke.
*
Snape had never before encountered someone who outwardly wore a masque of calm tranquility while screaming hysterically on the inside.
"OH GOD! VOLDEMORT IS PROBABLY STARING AT US OUT OF THE BACK OF QUIRRELL'S HEAD LIKE AN EVIL PUSTULE OF DOOM AND ALSO JIM AND I LOOK ALIKE AND VOLDEMORT'S AN EVIL INSANE MORON WHO WON'T BE ABLE TO TELL US APART AND ...!"
*
"I am sorry, Marcus. I was a bit unclear. I said I had something to say that would prove my worthiness as a Slytherin. I never meant to imply that I would be speaking to any of you."
And then ... Harry Potter HISSED!
The other four had barely a fraction of a second to process the fact that "Harry Potter, Heir to House Potter and Brother of the Boy-Who-Lived is a bloody Parselmouth!" when they were all startled by the movement and sounds which erupted all around them.
"As I said, there's not one at the moment. To become the Prince, you have to be a student who's gained the approval of all seven of the serpents who comprise the Hydra Throne, each of whom represents a different characteristic that the Founder considered important for his students." Harry pointed up at the basilisk looming over him. "The big guy, Rajah, represents ambition, although he prefers to think of it as 'vision.' For him, it's not enough to be personally ambitious, like wanting to get rich or famous. You need an ambition to shape the whole world to your will in some way. To Rajah's right is the python, Jormangand, named after the snake that encircled the world. He represents political acumen and the ability to form winning coalitions. For example, he is very supportive of my membership in an inter-house study group but is otherwise appalled at how insular the rest of the House has become over the last few decades. To Rajah's left is Ka the Cobra, who represents the Slytherin respect for intellect and academic excellence. Moving on down from him, we have Mara the Ashwinder, who represents cunning and cleverness. Next is Delilah the Boomslang, who represents the values of charm and subtlety which, as I've said, are greatly undervalued in the House nowadays. On the far right is the krait, Nidhogg, who represents ruthlessness," he said without elaboration. Draco swallowed. He suddenly noticed that the krait was staring at him intently and had been doing so for some time. "Last but not least, on the opposite side, we have the runespoor, whose three heads are called Tisiphone, Megaera and Alecto. They collectively represent respect for wizarding traditions, which, I should point out, is notsynonymous with blood purity."
Olivia and Rodney looked at the book hungrily. "What do you want in exchange?" Rodney said.
"A way to keep Draco Malfoy from trying to hurt my friends. Permanently." Harry looked over towards Draco as if the boy were something he'd scrapped off a shoe. "Because I've been working on the problem for the last week, and, frankly, the only solution I've been able to come up with is to simply kill the little shit!"

TWSA is a world-renowned novel and manhua, as is its protagonist, Kim Dokja. Yoo Joonghyuk is just one of Han Sooyoung's many readers, which does nothing to stop him from getting into Kim Dokja's good graces.

✨FUCKING BEST ROLE SWAP✨
“Aren’t you being too blaze about it?” Yoo Joonghyuk snapped. “You can’t use your knowledge of the hidden pieces or collect powerful relics. You can’t use your skill on most people we’re going to meet and deal with. On the other hand, they’re going to know everything about you and use it to their advantage. The incarnations will hunt your companions, while the constellations will hunt you – you’ll be their first priority. This is the most dangerous situation you’ve ever been in – you’re gonna have to work for your survival! It won’t be the usual stroll in the park!”
“Yes. Exciting, isn’t it?” Kim Dokja smiled at him. “I haven’t encountered anything so challenging in a very, very long time.”
Yoo Joonghyuk looked Kim Dokja in the eyes and saw no fear, no hesitation – just anticipation and unbridled glee.
Well, fuck. He'd forgotten the one essential thing about the guy: Kim Dokja might be smart, quick on his feet, incredibly skilled and OP – but he was also completely unhinged.
This was the guy who fought giant monsters, threatened dokkaebis, challenged constellations and rushed into mortal danger without a second thought. This was the guy who treated death as a mild inconvenience. This was the guy who’d only ever stopped acting suicidal once he’d learnt that his companions from the failed regressions turned into outer gods and were enslaved to be used for the Star Stream’s entertainment – and even that didn’t stop him from regressing, no, he merely took pains to ensure he got to the Final Wall and destroyed the Star Stream in each round before starting over. Where an ordinary person would lead a long and happy life, resting on the laurels of his accomplishments, Kim Dokja smiled and stepped off a skyscraper without a second thought. He kept trying and trying, always looking for new approaches, new hidden pieces, new developments, jumping into the fray and getting more excited the more unexpected it got.
They were so screwed.
*
“Do you know what they say about writing, Han Sooyoung-nim?” Kim Dokja said smugly. “You can’t deceive your readers, no matter how hard you try. Even if you hide behind fancy words, your real beliefs will shine through. And you know what the overarching theme of your story is?”
“Tell me,” Han Sooyoung replied challengingly.
“Loyalty. It’s everywhere: from minor constellations like Dog Who Threw Himself Into the Flames, the only Zodiac member to consistently survive, to my own story. Whoever betrays their comrades faces a horrible punishment; whoever stays loyal prevails. Tell me, Han Sooyoung-nim, would you be able to write a story like this if you didn’t really believe in loyalty with all your heart?”

“What I’m trying to say is that I can only ever be with people who also remember the events of other world lines. Namely, Nirvana and Anna. Everyone else is off-limit. I’ve known them both for literal millenia. It’s… a rare privilege to speak to someone who knows exactly what I’m going through. What I’ve been through. Even were they as monstrous as you seem to think, I’d still form a sort of attachment to them.”
*
Kim Dokja was always hiding behind that Wall of his. This had been the premise from the start: Kim Reader, the one who’d read so many escapist novels he viewed the world through the lens of them. The one who constantly imagined himself living in an imaginary world, so engrossed in his own fantasy he remained distant and unattainable to everyone around as long as he believed that all of this wasn’t really happening.
Kim Dokja fancied himself an audience to his own life.
✨ Reader!kdj x Reader!yjh
TWSA was so obscure so they were pretty much the only ones around who knew the best routes to victory, though Kim Dokja had no idea about the Outer Gods being the companions from failed worldlines (which meant that Yoo Joonghyuk from the book, the loser that he was, hadn’t even managed to learn that much).
They got officially married after the tenth scenario, because no one had been bold enough to tell the two strongest incarnations in the country that gay marriage was not legal.
✨ Regressor!kdj x Regressor!yjh (+SP?)
“What if there is something to my liking? What then?”
Kim Dokja’s smile turned from self-deprecating to predatory.
Yoo Joonghyuk hadn’t expected to finish this evening on his back, screaming in pleasure, his legs on Kim Dokja’s shoulders, his hands tearing at the coarse sheets. Not that he was complaining.
Also, he was now absolutely positive Kim Dokja had some sort of a mind-reading ability. The party members had joked around about it, but Kim Dokja had never confirmed or denied it outright. And yet… the moment Yoo Joonghyuk so much as thought about anything, Kim Dokja gave it to him.

Summary
Heroes do their utmost to help, no matter of price.
But isn't there a line? If so, how far is too far? When you become the supreme leader of New Japan? When your superiors decide to kidnap a child for political leverage? Or perhaps when you're sent back in time to kill a dangerous individual that now is a child with no recollection of incoming war?
Every side has its own set of answers. But those don't tend to align; otherwise, there would be no sides.
Now, let's focus on the origin of such outrageous questions... Because in this universe the line is yet to be drawn.

Bakugo's already feeling guilt over Izuku, but now that Izuku was gone so was her mercy. Toga was going to make this asshole pay.
*
“Eri?" someone called out.
Midoriya Izuku. The right-hand man of the MLA who made his face known to everyone last year. He, who uses the alias Deku; useless. Because that’s what, according to his words, society used to call him and that’s what fighting against him is. His spiel back then didn’t just make a splash, it created a whole damn tsunami.
“Wait,” Lemillion called out and Midoriya looked back. “I have a question! Why did you start a war?”
The actual leader of the Meta Liberation Army had the audacity to look at them with big round eyes and go:
“I didn’t.” but he must have noticed Aizawa’s eyes screaming ‘bullshit’ because he continued. “I was doing everything I could for things to end peacefully. Right now I’m just trying to win with as few losses as possible to stop all this bloodshed.”
*
“Don’t worry, sweethearts, we’re going to the quirk doctor on Saturday and he will surely be able to help you figure out what your quirks are!”
“I don’t need one.” He said with a shrug, which made Inko widen her eyes in shock and Izuku gasp, deeply offended.
“What do you mean you don’t need quirk?! Are you sick?"
“No. I just know that quirk doesn’t make a person. I can be anyone I want even without one.” He said, crossing his arms.
“But, but… How do you want to be a hero without a quirk? Can you be a hero like All Might without quirk?”
“Well, even with quirk I don’t think anyone can be exactly like All Might. I mean, it’s important to make your own brand and all…”
“Oh my, it's as if I'm listening to Hisashi…” Inko noted and Mikumo instantly turned toward her.
“Dad doesn’t like heroes!”
“Well… It's as if I'm listening to Hisashi if he was smaller, cuter, and liked heroes.” She said, crouching down to pinch his cheeks.
“Mine can stay a mystery forever. Like some sort of secret weapon.”
[OG timeline AFO got enough brain damage in to forget all about his family (and the past thirty years or so, heh). Though he did have a shit-ton of thoughts in lines of "wow this kid is like a son I never had" and "why does he remind me of myself so much?" and "he's like Yoichi but smarter!"]
*
“Come on, Micchan! Try to beat that so I can beat you again!”
Ah, here it comes; another line to write down in his ‘Baby Quotes’. He is making copies for both Izuku and Katsuki for their fifteenth birthday if it is the last thing he does. No- better. He will smuggle those into their backpacks on their first day of UA.
*
When The Question comes, Mikumo cut off Inko's incoming hope-shattering apology.
“Of course, you can,” Mikumo said and echoed Stain's words. "It’s the heart that makes a true hero!”
The next day the Hero Analysis For Future Number 1 came to be.
“You know what is as powerful as quirks? Information! If you can spot enemies' weaknesses you can defeat them even if you’re technically weaker!” Mikumo said and Izuku nodded determinedly.
Analysis was hilarious when done with the five-year-old version of himself, mostly because he didn’t expect much and had been presented with the most outrageous ideas and theories ever. No longer shall Nezu be simply a mammal in his mind, from now on he is forever more dubbed Opossuman.
💚💚
“Just admit to being a genius, time traveler, or having had been reincarnated already.” He said and laughed at the face his twin made.
“Is it really this obvious?!”
“Yeah. For me at least. Mom’s convinced you’re just smart and really hard working. I think she thinks that it’s Kacchan tutoring you not the other way around.”
“Still. Aren’t you curious about the time travel reincarnation genius thingy?” Mikumo asked, raising an eyebrow.
“I feel like you would share it with me already unless it was… You know, painful.” Izuku said, his face growing more worried. “I talked with mom about stories when we were kids. She told me you didn’t speak for three years.”
“I guess it is kind of painful…” Mikumo mused. “But I mostly came to terms with it all.”
*
“Hey, you remember we’re going into the second phase of the Haunt Endeavour plan next week, right?”
Eri gave them thumbs up. “I’m proud you’re above killing your abusive asshole of a father and rather had opted to torture him for years to come.”
“Me too. Come on, how could I ever be so stupid to think that just murdering would cut it? Everyone knows consequences of your own actions haunting you and slowly making you go insane are the best.”
That’s the moment Mikumo chose to walk in with a raised eyebrow.
“I’m not sure if I’m disappointed that even without context I know exactly what you’re talking about or that I’m actually willing to help you.”

Frequently asked questions don’t always have the same answer - not when it’s the whole world being questioned.
But Midoriya had never let that stop him from asking, even in the face of hate and ridicule. One of his questions had been answered, but that didn’t mean he didn’t have more.
A sequel to Wrong answers don't mean you should stop asking questions.

“...I didn’t get one.” His voice was quiet, strained. "They probably thought it was a joke, so they didn’t make it.” After all, what costume designer would waste time and resources on an outfit for a quirkless hero, when there would never be one?
*
“Why?”
They seemed confused by his tone, but Kirishima was the one reply. “I’m not sure what exam you took, but there’s no way they’d make it past the entrance exam.”
“I don’t have any of those quirks. I don’t have a quirk at all. But I still passed the entrance exam, and Aizawa’s quirk assessment test. So. Why. Can’t someone quirkless. Be a hero?”
The classroom fell silent. “I’ve heard every possible reason. That quirkless people are weak, useless, pathetic, worthless. That the only way I’d do well on something would be to cheat or lie, that I’m a loser, someone who shouldn’t exist. So don’t hold back, because I want to know why you think I can’t be a hero.”
*
“Hell, why didn’t he show up and bring all this research with him? People died."
“Right.” The bite in Aizawa’s voice made everyone shut up. “Because you would all believe a middle school student with a notebook telling you that there’s going to be a landslide in a month. You would all stop on your patrol to read his work, compare it to similar cases in the past, agree with his research, then organise for either an evacuation at the start of the tourist season, or find a way to stabilize a whole mountain.”
*
“It’s amazing what that kid can do, but knowing he’s only gotten this far, learned this all, because he was alone with no one to believe in him...it’s heartbreaking, you know?”
*
“Really, I’m fine! It’s just some minor surface injuries. I just need to wash the dust off, disinfect them and wrap them up. Really, my main issue is some strain on my ankles from running so much, but I can treat that all myself. There’s no need to waste resources on me.”
The kid kept talking, deflecting the paramedic and ignoring the concerned looks his classmates were giving him.
237 heroes had repeatedly broken Midoriya’s dreams, and the world had done its best to break everything else.
*
“Yeah, honestly if I was quirkless I’d prefer to kill myself.”
Distantly Izuku could hear protests coming from his classmates.
“Most of them do.”
“Huh?” The 1-B students peered down at him, still so sure of themselves.
Izuku stared right back at them. “Most of them do. Only half the quirkless population make it to their forties, and half of those deaths are self inflicted. A quarter of a whole demographic kill themselves, because they have no job prospects, no support from community or the government, face social ostracisation, and they’re often victims of hate crimes and human trafficking even if they survive themselves.” All of the students aside from the ones at the fringes who couldn’t hear what was going on had gone silent. For once, others would know what he’d learnt in his first year of middle school. “You didn’t know that, did you? You also probably didn’t know those studies were done two decades ago, and in that time the rate of quirklessness has dropped significantly, meaning discrimination is at an all time high.” Izuku took a deep breath, letting the bitterness and anger that lived tucked away within him colour his tone. “Not one person who has ever told me to be realistic actually knows what it means to face reality. I’ve survived this long because I got very good at ignoring reality, and fighting for every tiny thing I have.”
He looked at them.
“If you want my place, you’re going to have to pry it from my cold, dead, quirkless hands.”
*
“I don’t know whether I should thank or condemn you. Every time I see you, all I can think about is you telling me that I can’t be a hero, to be realistic. But that was also what set me on the path that got me into UA. Seeing you in class is already hard, I couldn’t, can’t, properly talk to you. I’m just...waiting for a time that I can actually listen to you, and not hear the past, before we talk. I’m sorry All Might.”
*
“You are incredibly lucky.” Nedzu’s voice was cold. “Toshinori, there are multiple paths Midoriya could have taken, be very glad that none of them involved hatred. Exposing your secret is the least he could have done in retaliation. Literally.”
*
He just spoke in plain terms about reaching out to multiple villains as if they were acquaintances about to make an arbitrary mistake, and Nedzu was terrified of what Midoriya was capable of. He was fully aware that the student was talented with a toxic mindset. The way he explained it was just a slow, ineffective method that involved talking a lot, but to change someone’s mindset, to make them turn away from violence and hate through using kindness? It had been a long time since Nedzu had seen compassion like that.

Summary
Reality shattered like broken glass. The firmament that separated the real world from the eldritch beyond had broken. Two timelines had collided in the center of the street—an incongruous synthesis of two different chains of events. A building collapsed, and it did not. An explosion devastated the surroundings, and it did not. Screaming faces and laughs of joy overlapped each other as if viewed through a kaleidoscopic prism.
The crowd looked on in horror and awe. Who was responsible for tearing apart the fabric of reality?
Izuku groaned. Great, another merge conflict, he thought. What a pain.
Midoriya Izuku’s quirk is Git, the distributed version control system designed to track changes in source code and resolve conflicts in nonlinear development workflows.
Yes, I’m dead fucking serious.

“git restore all_might_pencil.”
In an instant, the pencil disappeared from Izuku’s hand and reappeared on his desk, perfectly overlapping the virtual pencil.
Holy crap.
That was teleportation! Just that, and nothing else, was the quirk of a Pro Hero! There were so many possibilities for rescue and reconnaissance alone! And it was instant, with possibly no limit on the number of objects, or the size or weight, and possibly even no range limit. He couldn’t even think of a quirk like that without a range limit! Oh my god, could he use his quirk on living people? That was an endless rabbit hole all by itself. And, and—
Izuku snapped the pencil in half.
“git restore all_might_pencil,” Izuku said.
The two broken halves of the pencil vanished, and the newly repaired whole pencil reappeared in the location of the virtual pencil.
Izuku squealed with glee.
What if he had multiple objects with the same name? He had multiple “All Might pencils” in his desk drawer, after all. So many endless questions. He really did get the perfect kind of quirk for his personality, didn’t he? He’d be able to experiment for years and still probably discover new things!
*
Earlier today had been the first time he’d used his quirk on a human being, and the fact that his quirk reset the person’s memories raised some very uncomfortable questions.
It seemed fine at the time because Katsuki had only lost a few seconds of memories, but it wasn’t limited to just that. After all, Izuku could say “git restore Bakugou Katsuki” right now, and Katsuki would immediately vanish and be replaced by a version of him who had never experienced the last several hours.
So what happened to the Katsuki who vanished? Did that version of him just… die?
And it wasn’t like it was just limited to this one day, either. Years from now, when they were both Pro Heroes (and had repaired their relationship maybe?), Izuku could one day say “git restore Bakugou Katsuki” and Katsuki would be killed and replaced with an angry fourteen-year-old version of himself.
Sure, he could continuously commit Katsuki. Every day, perhaps, so that he would never lose more than a day’s worth of memories. Perhaps that would be something he did as a hero in the future: commit his teammates every day so that he could bring them back to full health if something ever went terribly wrong.
*
😂 Katsuki shoved Izuku, but didn't expect Izuku to shove him back, when he tripped Ochako helped, and he exploded on her.
“Principal Nedzu,” Vlad King said gravely, eyes focused on a particular screen. “What that student did to the zero-pointer… can he do that to people?”
“Oh yes, of course. He has no limits at all!” Nedzu chirped. “He could do it to the whole country if he wanted to, at any time, in an instant! I’m certain ‘git add Japan’ would work if he tried it. Isn’t it wonderful?”
Nedzu could smell a wave of terror wash over the Pro Heroes in the room.
Silly humans! It was a common shortcoming with species who were used to being at the top of the food chain. If you spent all your time being afraid of apex predators, then you’d never get anything done in life! They shouldn’t be scared of Midoriya Izuku, they should be eager to help him reach his full potential! How could he help his staff understand?
Oh, of course! He should go into great detail about the many other world-shattering things Midoriya could do if he chose to. That would help! After all, nothing was scarier than the unknown.
🤍
“It’s not healing, exactly. My quirk lets me make save points. I can revert Hagakure back to right before we started the Battle Trial, but, um, it affects everything. Her memories. She wouldn’t remember any of this. For her, it’ll be like nothing ever happened.”
Holy fuck, you’re shitting me. “YES! YES! DO IT! PLEASE DO IT! PLEASE!”
In a few moments, Hagakure Tooru would cease to be, and she couldn’t be more thrilled about it. This had all been a big mistake, but she was getting a second chance. She wasn’t going to waste it.
The new her wouldn’t truly know what happened. The new her wouldn’t have experienced any of the feelings she felt right now. The new her would learn how to use One For All properly, and so this would never happen again. Midoriya Izuku would just be a cool classmate of hers who helped her out. Their relationship would be a clean slate.
She didn’t want to hate him. She didn’t want to be the type of person who would hate him. She’d do better next time.
Who knows, maybe they could even be friends.

The teleport crystal shattered and for a moment, Kirito thought he was done. Then he realized nothing in the room was moving. Not even the Boss. A screen appeared above him.
Attack on Titan.

“I dunno. I fought with them. They’re pretty good.”
“They’re very good,” she corrected him. “But they’re still going to lose.”
“Just because they are trapped in a death game, doesn’t mean they’re going to lose,” the boy said.
Annie froze. “They? You’re not from here?” Why hadn’t she seen it before? This wasn’t a kid traumatized by his first battle. This was a warrior contemplating his next move. A warrior. Marley had finally sent someone to check on them.
What would he report? That they had failed? That they had gone native? What would happen to their families?
“I’m not from immediately around here…” He confirmed her suspicions.
On the other hand, he looked more like he might be from Hizuru than Marley.
“I’m Annie.“ She waited for the reaction. Oh, he was cool all right. He didn’t so much as twitch. Hizuru or Marley, they all knew the names of the Titan shifters. Marley paraded them through the streets and proclaim them as heroes. Either way, his reporting back wouldn’t be good for her. Maybe she should just push him off the wall and get rid of him. He said he didn’t know how to use his ODM gear. But then again, he was obviously lying. It was expertly fitted.
“I’m Kirito,” he said. It was his turn to wait for a reaction, like he expected her to know it. Maybe he was a Titan shifter also? She didn’t recognize him, but it had been five years. Marley would have begun training new warrior candidates the moment they left. If that was the case, pushing him off the wall would trigger a transformation and all hell would break loose.
*
Annie watched as the mysterious stranger fired his gas, adding a horizontal vector to his vertical drop, then fired a line, bringing him into a circular swing lining himself up with a small side street, one far less likely to draw the attention of the garrison on the Wall than the main street it looked like he had been aiming for. “Doesn’t know what he’s doing, my ass,” Annie muttered. This guy was good.
*
The Scouts were onto him alright, and they weren’t taking any chances.
“And what was with dragging a cadet into it with you?”
Shit. If the Scouts made a connection between a Marlian spy and the three “cadets” they were screwed. They’d fed Marco to the Titans to protect their secret but seasoned scouts would not be so easily gotten rid of.
“I didn’t ask her to come with me. I don’t know what she was doing there.” It was a weak attempt to hide their connection, but he was trying to distance himself from them.
They listened further, while he tried to dissuade them from taking a Titan alive, but not so vehemently they’d suspect. The stranger walked a fine line with these Scouts.
“You’re right,” Reiner said. “This guy is good.”
Berthold scrunched up his face. “Are you sure? I don’t think it’s a convincing act; I don’t think he’s acting.”
The other two looked at him. “Berthold, you’re a good warrior, but you were not selected for your brains.”
10
“Pink crystals. They heal.”
Levi stared at Petra. Broken neck, crushed diaphragm. Impossibly sitting in front of him. Weak but intact.
“Will it work on anybody?”
“Long as they’re not dead.”
11
“We only have eleven of them. We tried to break the larger crystal up, no dice. Nothing we have is hard enough. Kirito could do it because he had this weird green sword. He said it was made of dragon metal, whatever that is. And Eren doesn’t know how to make crystals.”
“Yet,” Hange added.
“So we can save eleven lives.” Erwin tried to think how to use this to best advantage.
*
There was a pile of pink crystals beside the large chunk that Kirito had cut out of the Titan’s neck, but no Kirito.
There was, however, a teal green crystal with a brilliant white light in the center, hovering in defiance of gravity.
They looked at each other, then Levi walked over and carefully touched it.
Kirito’s voice came out.
“Sorry to leave you like this, but I found a teleport crystal. It’s the only one I’ve seen since I’ve been here and since it was already activated, I guess I better take it while I can. I know you’re in a tricky spot, but there are people back in Aincrad that are counting on me too. From what I just saw, Captain Levi is even faster than I am so he should be able to get you through.
“I did a Search. There are no Titans in the forest, so can get yourselves organized.
“If you find any more blue crystals and get tired of fighting Titans, you’re welcome to come visit. You can activate the crystal by saying ‘Teleport’ but make sure you specify one of the towns. You do not want to end up in the boss room by accident. But I gotta be honest, we have 29 more floor bosses to go, so I’m not sure our road out of this nightmare is any easier than yours. I wish you luck.”

He knew he should hate Inaho because of everything he had done, but the thing is, Achill kind of liked the guy. He wasn’t arrogant or boastful. Just kind of matter of fact about everything. Maybe he could get him talking about the war.
“I hope this isn’t a sore spot, but why are you still a lieutenant?“ Achill said.
Inaho looked puzzled. “That is the correct rank for someone of my experience and time in service.”
“Yeah but… You’re the orange cataphract. Every Versian cataphract brought down in the war was brought down by you. If you had been from Vers, you would’ve been knighted if not made a count.“
“The UFE doesn’t have knights and counts.”
“A captain then, or even an admiral.”
Inaho blinked as he considered. “Admirals don’t pilot cataphracts. That would be a waste of resources.”
How do you not like a guy who can not only say that with a totally straight face, but mean it?
✨
“I’ll be honest with you,” Captain Magbaredge said to the meeting of high ranking dignitaries, “I’m not wild about going into a possible conflict with the Martians without Inaho Kaizuka on board. Every Martian count we beat, we beat either directly or indirectly because of him.”
✨
“You seem awfully interested in him.” Rayet narrowed her eyes.
Cace wondered how much she guessed about him. “You needn’t worry,” he grinned. “I’m not trying to interrogate you. The Vers Empire already knows everything it needs to know about Kaizuka, Inaho. Lieutenant, United Forces of Earth.” Then he looked thoughtful. “But the file did neglect to mention how likable the guy is. Most people with his disorder are not.”
“What do you mean his disorder?” Rayet bristled.
“You cannot tell me you have worked with this man for over four years and never noticed.” Cace raised an eyebrow. “At any rate, I will not try to challenge or undermine your loyalty to your count.”
“He’s not my ‘count’!” Rayet grew genuinely enraged.
“Isn’t he?” Cace said, half teasingly. “He redeemed your life, put you into his squadron. Without him, you never would have been permitted to join the UFE, nor would you have wanted to. And I suspect, if it came down to it and you had to choose between following Kaizuka and the United Earth, you’d choose Kaizuka.”
“Yes but Kaizuka’s never going to betray his people.” Except that time when he asked me to help him free the Martian Count who was a high-value prisoner of the UFE. Shit. The Martian was right.
✨
“I can’t imagine why you listen to anything that woman has to say. She is nothing but vulgar trash, still half in love with that upstart Terran who dared to call himself a count. Thank heavens he’s dead now. She’d have put him on the throne if you hadn’t woken up. Can you imagine it? A Terran sitting beside the throne?”
Asseylum could imagine it, all too well. A levelheaded, always rational, dark haired Terran. But such a thing could never be.
✨
“This isn’t about the UFE. And as Inaho proved, we could beat them.”
“Don’t take this the wrong way, Warrant Officer Kaizuka, but your brother is a one-off freak sent by God to save our unworthy asses. Now I get that you and your friends like the Princess, but that doesn’t change the fact that everyone abandoned those people and blamed them for surviving.”
✨
“This is Rayet Areash. She was born on Vers. Her father was the leader of the cell that tried to assassinate Princess Asseylum the first time she was here on Earth. Only after they thought it succeeded, the Martians killed her father to silence him. This made her really mad, so she changed sides and joined us. After she tried to kill Seylum one more time. Now she’s in my squadron. Rayet, this is Slaine Troyard. He was born on Earth but his father went to Vers to study Aldnoah. After his father died, he got stuck there. He switched sides and came back to us at the start of the war. He was the Martian in the sky carrier that saved all our lives on Tanegashima, except then I shot him down and that made him mad, so he switched sides back and became leader of the Martians. Anyway we gotta go.” He dashed out the door
The two of them stared at each other for a second. Rayet shrugged. “Oh what the hell, he’s never been wrong yet.” She followed him out the door.
After a moment Slaine followed suit. He caught up with them by the back door. “You know if you two get caught, it’s life in prison. If I get caught, they’ll shoot on sight.”
“You said you wanted to die anyway,” Inaho replied indifferently.
“Yeah, but I’d like my hands around your throat when I go.”

Midoriya Izuku's quirk: Perfect Recall. The ability to relive any part of his past with all five senses isn't exactly the most powerful of quirks. Despite that, Izuku's going to become a hero. Even if he has to essentially fight quirkless.
But then one long, long, day, he meets her. And everything changes.Or: If Uraraka had a second quirk, one that lets her rewind the entire world back to a specific point. The only catch? Her own memory gets reset along with everyone else-everyone, that is, but a single boy with a weak quirk.

“That makes things easier; I’m going to be a hero too. Essentially, I want to make a deal. I’ll help you study, train, and figure out your new quirk; Reset, and analyze Zero Gravity as well. I’m pretty good at quirk analysis. In return...I want to use your quirk to save lives, and stop or even prevent villain attacks altogether with the advantage foreknowledge gives me.”
Uraraka didn’t say anything for a minute, deep in thought. “My parents own a construction company. So I know a few things about business deals and contracts. I can tell your brilliant, Midoriya-kun, and if I really do have this second quirk, so I’ll gladly agree to help you to use it for our future hero work.”
Uraraka raised two fingers. “But all of that? It’s entirely in your favor. I don’t remember when I Reset; you would be the only one able to make any decisions. And handing over that much power, to someone I’ve known for a day, is a lot. So two conditions. One: show me your memories of what I've erased. You don’t have to show me every single thing that happened in your life, just the important events and stuff that made you want to Reset. I also want to see things that deal with me.” Uraraka paused. “This is still so much power to give someone, but...I think I’ll trust you. Two: show me everything that happened the first time I Reset, with Pink Jacket."
*
Izuku stared at her. “Uraraka, I physically can’t forget anything.”
Uraraka pouted. “I wish I had Perfect Recall. School would be so easy!”
“...You have two incredibly powerful quirks; the first literally allowing you to rewind time and the second one actually overwrites a fundamental force-”
“B-But Midoriya-kun, you can memorize study guides!”
"Anyone can do that!”
[Izuku and Uraraka are literally immortal with Reset, as long as she logically sets a Save within every three days. If Uraraka dies, she'll automatically Reset, and if Izuku dies then Uraraka would definitely know about it before her next Save and Reset. A bit OP, but time travel is time travel.
Also, a whole mindscape of memories and being able to show people those memories, as well as the inherent time dilation involved, is honestly a big leap from simply remembering everything you've experienced. It's because I firmly believe that if Izuku truly did have a quirk at the usual age, he'd spend all of that time analyzing and evolving it as much as possible.]
*
“You’re very observant, Midoriya-senpai. My quirk, Feline, let’s me access the senses of every cat in the city while I’m asleep, as well as view their memories.”
“You must know everything that goes on in this city.” Izuku realized, amazed.
“So you want to help us.” Izuku summarized.
“Not just that. I will support the two of you in your hero careers with my quirk when possible. I’m not planning to be one myself-I want to be a vet, if that wasn’t obvious-but I don’t really have plans for that future. I will enter U.A's General Education course a year after you do.”
*
“So you had to play the villain, then? For nearly a decade? That’s stupid. You declared me too weak, so you needed to show me that out of...concern?”
Katsuki scowled. “No, pride. You never fought back, not fucking once, until now. You always ran away. Someone with a weak quirk, who won’t fight back, becoming a pro hero like I was? Impossi-”
“Of course, I ran away! I never wanted to fight you!”
“You think a villain is going to care-”
“Exactly! You aren’t a villain!” Izuku shouted back. “I’ll become a hero, and capture villains without hesitation. But I’m not going to fight a future hero for no reason. And guess what, every hero isn’t All Might! Most of them aren’t super powerful. Heroes with ‘weaker’ abilities can still be good heroes-in fact, it’s great that we have versatility and quirks like Sir Nighteye’s Foresight. Mandalay and Ragdoll have mental quirks that are incredibly useful to saving lives. You’re smart, Katsuki, so why are you acting like a one-dimensional, quirkist dumbass?”
*
“I was expecting you to talk about his strength, or maybe even the speeches...”
“Oh, no, his speeches are terrible,” Izuku cut in bluntly, and Yagi nearly coughed up a lung. “You’re not one of the people who writes those things, right? I don’t want to offend you, or anything...”
“No, no, All Might prepares his speeches himself. I was just surprised.”
Izuku laughed lightly. “His messages are all great, but he fumbles words a lot and generally just isn’t...made for public speaking. He tries, though, and that’s what really matters. I think most people ignore his small flaws like that because he’s, well, All Might. They should realize he’s still a person too, you know?”
Yagi had completely stopped writing now, his powerful blue eyes fixed on Izuku. “Yeah. I do.”

Summary
There was an interesting Pre-Quirk era quote: "Some are born great, some achieve greatness, and some have greatness thrust upon them". In quirked society, most people are born with greatness, with a power that makes them unique. Izuku knows he isn't meant to be great. He only hopes that, with a little effort, he can at least be good.

He only wanted one person to believe in his dream of being a hero, and he was one person.
It was startling to know now that he hadn't even believed in himself. All of his drive and determination to prove people wrong, to prove that he could be a hero without a quirk, and he was still looking for that validation somewhere else because he didn't even think himself capable of it.
All Might didn't think he was capable of it. All Might had told him to be realistic. All Might had suggested he become a police officer.
But he didn't want to be a police officer. He wanted to be a hero.
Kacchan had believed in him before, had believed in both of them, but he'd left that all behind. Izuku had too, in a way. The doctor saying he was quirkless had broken him more than he expected, had stolen the belief in his dream and convinced him that it was impossible.
Izuku wanted to believe in himself again. He wanted to wake up every day and know that he had an achievable goal in mind.
He broke down quirks all the time. Why shouldn't he be able to do the same thing with his goals?
Izuku reached for a new notebook and wrote 'Achievable Goals' across the front.
*
"Why now? What changed your mind?" Of course, Mirai could see straight to the heart of things and start digging for all of his answers.
"I met a child today, a boy who reminded me why I became a hero in the first place." And it only struck him then that he didn't know the kid's name. The boy had thrown himself into Toshinori's life like a hurricane, upsetting all of the things he thought were true about him and what he did, and he didn't even know the boy's name. "He's quirkless, but he wants to be a hero. And when his friend was in trouble, he ran in without thinking and tried to help. I had to help, of course I did, but he reminded me of myself and the things I wanted when I was growing up."
"Because you were quirkless and your mentor gave you One for All." At least that was one thing he didn't have to explain. Mirai was one of the few people he had told the full story to. "Why do you want my help? Why not give it to this boy who reminds you so much of yourself?"
"Because he's in elementary school. One for All could destroy him if he tried to use it. He's much too young, and I don't think we can wait until he's old enough to try."
*
"Are you still my friends?"
"Of course, we are," Saitou said, ruffling his hair again. "I mean, I thought you were pretty mature for a 15-year-old. Come to find out you're really mature for a 12-year-old, but that doesn't change who you are. You're still our friend, green. She just means your other friends."
"What other friends?" The self-deprecating giggle escaped before he could stop it. "I'm quirkless. I'm more likely to get spider lilies than friends."
*
Aldera Middle School was under investigation. Ito Kenji, the principal, had received an official notice that the school was going to be examined based on the recommendation of a pro hero. He discovered that the so-called problem students he had been dealing with were not the instigators but the victims. He had been treating victims of bullying as troublesome students whose behavior needed to be rectified. It was little wonder they were reluctant to say anything in his office. Before, he probably wouldn't have believed them. Worst of all, one student received a red spider lily on his desk during the week the observers were watching, and it had been placed in full view of the homeroom teacher who proceeded to do nothing about it.
Actually, Ito was fairly certain the worst part of that particular incident was the level of resignation the observer in that particular class noted in Midoriya as he picked up and discarded the flower in the trash can in the back of the class. And no one had bothered to ask after the boy's state of mind after the incident. It spoke of a systemic level of abuse that was honestly terrifying in its scope and the near laser-focus on the most vulnerable of his students. He was horrified by the mere implication of what was going on in his school.

easybeinggreen: How do I come into this? I just analyze quirks.
Eraserhead: You also analyze the situation, the environment, and the bigger picture. My students don't understand this yet, that there is a bigger picture they need to pay attention to.
Eraserhead: I am going to get Nezu's approval for you to be given access to the information and resources we have at UA in order to design a situation for each student that they will lose if they rely completely on their quirk. This would be a big job, a custom scenario for each one of the 16 kids in my class. Possibly an additional 20 from Vlad King's class, depending on how well the scenarios go.

[Basically, we ran though a shitton of "Midoriya Izuku has One for All" and found it severely lacking in angry, intelligent Izuku.]
“ ...So,” he says slowly, once they’re both seated, “Am I getting my immunity?”
Sir Nighteye nods, his eyes masked by the glare of his glasses. “Of course. We’ll get the papers in order and signed as soon as the quirk is successfully transferred.”
Click.
Izuku sucks in a breath. So they’re doing this, huh?
“Wonderful. Alright; I think I’ll keep the quirk, thanks.”
“What?” “Midoriya?”
Izuku picks at his nails like they’re the most concerning thing in the room.
“Why wouldn’t I, when you’re lying through your teeth? Don’t,” Izuku snaps, letting some of his anger seep into his voice. Detective Tsukauchi closes his mouth.
“ Don’t sit there and lie to me. I’m a teenager, not an idiot. I know you have a lie-detecting quirk. Your tongue clicks whenever it goes off. I’m assuming you have no control over whether or not it’s activated, considering you’ve been clicking when Sir Nighteye lies, too. I’m sure it comes in real handy when you’re in the field – it serves as a way to keep your colleagues up to speed, right? It’s pretty subtle. I’m sure that outside of a controlled environment I wouldn’t have been able to hear it if I wasn’t listening for it.
And don’t try to tell me you have someone on the other side of that mirror telling you when I’m lying or not. There’s no means of transmitting sound on you or in this room, otherwise you wouldn’t have bothered with turning off the recorder earlier. Your paranoia is telling. So,”
Leaning in, Izuku shoots Sir Nighteye his most charming smile. The hero looks like he’s about to pop a blood vessel.
“Now that we’re all being honest with each other, mind telling me what your actual plans for me are?”
“I – you – what?” Tsukauchi stammers.
“Tartarus.” Izuku turns to look at the hero. “For life. Or less, if you are to cooperate.” Sir Nighteye looks at him like something he scraped off the sole of his shoe, but Detective Tsukauchi doesn’t click.
Not for the first time, Izuku wishes his hands weren't cuffed together. He goes to fold his hands, but settles for leaning forward instead.
“Interesting. Tell me, Sir – do you really want to see the last remnant of your precious mentor rotting away in a prison cell?” He takes supreme delight in the hero shooting to his feet, chair clattering to the floor behind him. The following silence is loud. Izuku continues.
“Let me tell you what I think. I think that you want this quirk more than I do. I’ve long accepted my quirklessness, and honestly my life would be a whole lot simpler without it. Unfortunately, the same is not the same for you.
“I think that you heroes left all of society’s peace of mind and stability resting on the shoulders of one man, and now that one man is gone, along with what sounds to be the Boogeyman of Japan. And now that both of them are gone, you find yourself with two major power vacuums. Your Symbol of Peace is shattered, and as of right now, you’re scrambling to pick up the pieces. Did I get that all right?”
Sir Nighteye manages to pick his jaw up off the floor.
“You have some nerve–”
Izuku tuts. “You know. I’m glad I was able to stop Stain, he was a dangerous man with dangerous ideals; however, he wasn’t entirely off the mark with his beliefs. You heroes put too much stock into one person, and now you’re up Shit Creek without a paddle.
“Sure, you could lock me away in Tartarus forever– sweep your little secret and All Might’s fuck-up under the rug. But I know, that you know, that you can’t afford to do that. You don’t just want my quirk: you need it.”
Izuku smiles and it’s all razor-blades.
“So. I’m keeping it. And we’re going to sit here, and you’re going to stop lying, and we’re going to find a solution that doesn’t involve me going to prison. Sound good?”
*
"The rest of the class really wants to talk to you. You're all they've been talking about. It's exhausting." He guides a mouthful of soba to his lips and slurps noisily.
Izuku only stares, rudeness be damned -- Todoroki obviously doesn't care.
"...So why sit with me, if I'm so exhausting?"
"They are, not you. I want peace and quiet. They're too afraid to approach you. You're basically classmate-repellent."
Izuku feels like he should be offended, but the way Todorki says it so plainly, so matter-of-factly, he just isn't.
The hero student tilts his head, brow furrowing. It reminds Izuku vaguely of a dog. "Unless you'd rather I leave?"
"No, but you really don't have any questions? Like if I was actually quirkless, or how I know Bakugou?"
Todoroki takes a minute to respond. "Would you ask how I got my scar?"
Reflexively, his eyes fly to the burned patch.
"No."
Todoroki nods. "Then I won't ask you."

“If I were arrested immediately, would the sanctity of the Constitution be likely to hold the government together without strong leadership?”
“Assuming you’re not full of it… probably not,” Izuku admitted. “Those who knew about the previous corruption would try to leverage that corruption back into place to give themselves more power. Those who didn’t would find themselves in unfamiliar territory because what they expect the government to be wasn’t there in the first place. There’s nothing to stop anyone from declaring emergency powers immediately, which would be the logical decision considering the current state of emergency, but it would only make things worse because rebuilding the government needs agreed-upon standards to serve as a foundation, not a license to just… ignore what they like.”
“Amazing. Where did All Might even find you?” All for One said. “You certainly have more political acumen than most of your ilk.” All for One folded his hands and leaned forward almost eagerly, “what do you actually want to happen?”
They talked.
Halfway through the afternoon, the seemingly bottomless teapot was replaced by stacks of paperwork in which All for One traced the path and proof of the government’s illegalities and corruption. Izuku wanted to believe that this was some trick of All for One’s, but Izuku’s own laptop and phone were obligingly summoned from his home (Izuku was nearly distracted from the discussion with curiosity about the quirk used), and cross-referencing the internet offered a lot of points of reference to validate everything. He constantly found himself wondering how if these were All for One’s true beliefs, then why was he so… bad at governing? Why was he so knowledgeable about the theory and dismal in practice?
“You… you’re willing to agree to step down? Just like that?”
“Provided you refrain from attacking me for a little longer, I’ve already arranged a press conference for five o’clock this evening to announce my resignation.”
*
“I do not wish to delay this announcement any further. Today, I was visited by a recent graduate from your own UA High, mentored by All Might himself. I’m sure many of you recognize Izuku Midoriya. While his attempts at valiant battle proved sadly useless, we had a fantastic discussion afterward in which he persuaded me to see the error of my ways. Japan can not continue as it has, and my leadership will be insufficient to restore her glory. Therefore, I hereby resign my title, position, and role as Supreme Overlord of Japan, and transfer the title, as well as all rights and responsibilities, to Izuku Midoriya, your new Supreme Overlord. Obey him as you would me.”
What? What?
*
“I don’t have to prove anything to you,” Izuku stated in a deliberate, icy tone. “I woke up this morning with the full intention of fighting All for One. That happened, I failed, and instead of killing me he dumped Japan in my lap and told me to fix it. I plan to do that, but I will not waste my time proving myself to everyone who asks. It will take too much time that could be spent actually fixing things.” He stepped further into the room, every eye following him. “I’ve had a very long day, and I would love nothing more than to arrest, or obliterate, every single one of you. So you have three options: try to kill me now, which would at least give me a punching bag for a frankly absurd amount of stress; tell me exactly why you’re of more use to me walking free than pumped full of quirk suppressants and thrown in the nearest secure facility; or surrender peacefully and we'll jump straight to the part where I arrest you. I suppose you could try running, but you’ve had plenty of opportunity to do that already so it would be idiotic to wait till now, and chasing you would also be great stress relief.”
*
"Anyone with complaints about that can stuff it, and anyone with violent complaints about that can be launched into the stratosphere. Your choice.”
*
3530: People keep forgetting that he was badass enough to try to fight All for One, otherwise known as holy-shit-no-Cthulhu, solo. He looked upon humanity’s doom and said “fight me”. And got away with it. Not only did our S.O. get away with it, Cthulhu himself gave him Japan and retired because he could never live up to such greatness. Respect.

“I need your help!”
Kacchan stopped. Slow as an iceberg, he dropped his gaze to the hand on his shoulder, staring poisonously.
“What the fuck make you think I’m qualified for life advice?”
“You give it every day,” Izuku snapped. “You never have a problem telling people how to live--why are you suddenly so concerned about ‘qualifications?’”
Katsuki didn’t care about Izuku. Or anyone really. Ironically, that made him the only person Izuku felt like he could ask. Despite how awful Katsuki acted, he never stopped knowing how to move forward.
“You got 15 seconds. Spit it out.”
“What do I do if I have to do something, but I can’t live with myself if I do?”
Katsuki looked unimpressed. He raised an eyebrow, the answer clearly evident to him. “Die.”
The simple delivery stunned Izuku to a standstill.
Katsuki tilted his head, oddly calm. “What are you waiting for?” He flicked his hands in a shooing motion. “Easy solution.”
Izuku stared, speechless. Katsuki told people to kill themselves over shoe choices and their taste in movies. Hell, he told Izuku to kill himself a few weeks ago. He said it often enough that teachers and other students either rolled their eyes or laughed. He said it with empty rage, with annoyed yelling, or with a gleeful smirk.
He didn’t say it like this. Two plus two is four. Two minus two is zero.
Katsuki scoffed, shattering the silence and empty pulse in Izuku’s ears. “Since you aren’t running into traffic, it looks like you don’t wanna die. And that means you’ve made a decision to live.” He resumed his steady walk to school. "So use whatever living braincells you’ve got hidden deep inside your skull and figure out a way to fucking live with it.”
-
That weekend, Izuku robbed a morgue.
*
78 points. All of them from trashing robots.
All Might continues monologing: "As one of the first-place students, you blah blah blah. . ."
He looks for second place.
And looks again.
There isn't a second place.
Instead, under his own name, is an identical number one. 28 Villain points. 50 Rescue points.
"And you will share your obligations at this year's sports festival with your fellow first place competitor!" All Might cheers.
"Oh, honey," his dad points out neutrally. "He tied."
Katsuki inelegantly flips his shit.
*
“You applied to several other schools.” Aizawa states without preamble. “One of which is a fairly selective medical magnet school. You were granted placement in the surgical track. Do you want to continue that course of study?”
Izuku blinks, and homeroom is dead silent. “A-are you expelling me?”
Aizawa glares. “UA is always concerned with diversifying the skills of it’s students. If you have the ability to act as a medical technician on the field, you are an invaluable resource to yourself and others.” He rubs at his eyes. “If you are interested, the Principle wants to discuss designing an alternative course load to accommodate your interests. You need to finalize your courses by the end of the week if you decide to follow up on it.”
...He had poured months of work into getting ahead in biology and chemistry.
“Could I meet with him?” Izuku asks quietly.
*
“Oh, that I’m not worth first place? That I got in here out of luck? That I took something from someone who deserved it more?” Round-face bares her teeth at him, her face bright red with fury. “I’ve already thought of everything insulting you can say to me, and I’m a lot more vicious about it. So get off my ass and deal with your emotional issues privately, you incoherent dipshit!”
Katsuki clenches his fists. She didn’t fucking deserve first place.
And neither did he.
“I don’t have fucking issues!”
“Yeah, you do.” She rolls her eyes. “You’re picking a fight because you feel inadequate. Here, let me help you.” She tilts her head and puts on a ditzy expression, her voice about as sweet and caustic as force-fed laundry detergent. “Wow, Kacchan, you’re so strong. You totally wiped the floor with that aspiring rescue hero. Don’t you feel so strong picking on someone? Doesn’t it make you feel so safe?”
Katsuki can barely feel his skin. In it’s place is a buzzing, rushing thing, like nerves are exposed to the air. Anger burns a whole through his chest, tightens up his throat like barbed wire. He grabs Round-face by her shoulder. He shouldn’t. He needs to count to ten. He needs to step back.
“Oh, nooo,” she croons, looking him dead in the eye. “Are you going to hit me again? What ever shall I do?”
He flinches like she burned him.

Izuku’s jaw dropped. All Might’s… real name?
*
“Your entrance exam score indicates that you’re far past the usual high school science and mathematics curriculum. Going at the pace of your classmates at this point would be illogical, and a waste of your time.”
“O-oh,” Izuku said. He hadn’t really thought of that. “That makes sense, I guess.”
“You’ll meet with Nedzu tomorrow to build a new schedule. In the subjects in which you’re ahead, you’ll likely be placed in advanced second- and third-year classes for now, but Nedzu suspects by the end of the year that you’ll improve enough to need either private tutoring or university courses,” Aizawa said. His tone was dry but casual, and Izuku couldn’t tell if it was deceptively so. Private tutoring? Is this some kind of test?
“Um… sorry,” Izuku said. “I don’t mean to impose…”
Aizawa gave Izuku an unimpressed look. “Don’t apologize for your academic success. And here’s your pass for tomorrow.”
*
“Back then, I saw it as One for All, transferred, now I see it as One for All, remnants. I kind of wanted to ask you about that. I don’t usually see tags like ‘remnants’ accompanying other people’s quirks. You’re not the first to have one like it, but I’m curious as to what it might mean.”
Nedzu frowned. “He isn’t the only one?”
“Well, only one other person. I saw a person who had the tag copy, but besides him, no one else,” Izuku said.
Nedzu and Yagi shared a glance. “Midoriya, who had that tag?” Nedzu asked.
“Just some guy. Kyudai Garaki,” Izuku said.
Before Izuku could elaborate on that, Yagi broke into sudden, surprised coughing. “Just some guy?! We haven’t seen Kyudai, not since…” Yagi began, trailing off.
“Not since five years ago, but we knew he’d gone into hiding,” Nedzu said, his gaze sharpening. He glanced at Izuku. “Where did you meet him? If you let us know, we can find him.”
“Um, he’s my quirk doctor,” Izuku said.
*
C17 (Observed Kurogiri [Q combined] and Shigaraki [Q transferred]. ALMOST busted on multiple "quirks")

“Oh! Hey Midoriya,” Mirio said. “I wanted to give you an update about my uh… health condition, that you accidentally discovered.”
Izuku paused and glanced up at him, waiting with baited breath.
“Recovery Girl did a tissue sample and found some cell death,” Mirio explained. “It’s tissue necrosis--slowly, and over time, of course, but that would explain the vitality drain. She thinks it's caused by multiple quirks too.”
“Oh no, Mirio, I’m so sorry,” Izuku said.
“Don’t worry, it’s okay,” Mirio said. “Thanks to you, we caught it early. Recovery Girl said we can try to stave it off with her quirk.”
“Stave it off?” Izuku said, frowning.
“She can’t fix it completely,” Mirio said, scratching his neck awkwardly. “But if I come in every night, she can heal me before I go to sleep and set it back a little bit. Um… it’s really good that you caught this early. It’s still bad, but…”
“Is it… would it be rude if I asked how bad?” Izuku said.
Mirio winced and sighed. “Without your warning, if we do nothing, I would have lived… maybe six seven years. With Recovery Girl’s help, it’s closer to sixteen.”
“Mirio, that’s…”
“Not that it’s all completely hopeless!” Mirio quickly added. “We have sixteen years to figure it out, modern medicine, and UA’s resources at my back. You shouldn’t worry about me.”
*
“Title, Sports Festival Champion,” Izuku said.
Sports Festival Champion: If more than fifty people are watching the user, they receive a temporary +50 STR boost.
*
“Yes!” Nedzu said. “You’re valuable!”
“Wh-” Izuku’s voice faltered a little. “Uh, that’s kinda weird."
“That’s the mistake most people make!” Nedzu said, standing up from his chair. “You think that sounds strange because I’m implying I own you! But I can own people, too. Some of them just belong to me!” He paced across the other side of the room. “They just do what I want them to anyway! They might as well be mine!”
“Relationships,” Izuku muttered. He glanced down at Nedzu’s quick as he could.
Nedzu. Rep +99999. HE’S MINE.
Shit.
“I should get going now,” Izuku said, heart racing.
“Oh, no no no,” Nedzu said, shaking his head. “You’re worth far too much! You wouldn’t leave a golden watch out for anyone to steal, isn’t that right? So you’re staying right here.”
“You can’t-” A wave of dizziness hit Izuku. “What-”
“Ah, yes, the sedative is taking effect,” Nedzu said.

“And for the record, Deku isn’t here at the moment,” Midoriya said in amusement over the screen, his eyes glinting with mischief. “So please…”
The guns began to whir to life.
Shouto found himself shouting, “Everyone move!”
“Call me Sensei.”
And then the gun fire rang out, and the Event truly began.
______________________The annual Villain Day happened once a year. Once a year, all of UA’s Hero Course would take on a persona and take part in an all out brawl live streamed to all of Japan, fighting to be the last one standing.
Post Kamino, Midoriya wanted to spark change in Hero Society.
All Midoriya needed was a platform for this change.
He might be going a tad overboard, but his father always told him to never hold back.

“Why can’t you just…hack the duplicate account?” Snipe asked, only to be met with a fierce glare from the principal.
“Because it is a duplicate of my account, an account with all of my protections and then some, with every single password changed and what appears to be an offsite server hosting the additional firewalls and protections.” Shoving the laptop away for a moment, tail whipping in a dangerous, predatory way, Nedzu remarked, “The only control they left me in my original account was access to all the students’ vitals to assure their safety…and the power to reset the entire system. A reset which would give me back my old account powers…”
Powerloader glanced at him warily from his own laptop. “…but would shut down the Event stream.”
Nedzu scowled. “And I would have to publicly admit defeat to one of my own students.”
>Was…was that just a student acting for the event or did we just watch a real villain attack on live stream????
“But I’m more familiar with the ‘You can do it!’ Midoriya, not the “Call me Sensei” one,” Mirio chimed in. “It’s a bit of a jarring shift, to be honest.”
Uraraka frowned, side eyeing Bakugou, “Most of us at least.”
“Have none of you read those fucking notebooks he carries around everywhere?” He was met with blank stares. “Seriously? None of you? Do you even know what he writes about?”
“I asked once. He seemed almost…afraid to share it.”
“…Deku is a fucking quirk genius, alright?” He finally snapped. “He can pick quirks apart and tell you things about your own quirk that you could have never even hoped to have imagined. Like, all you fuckers go to him for advice, but he doesn’t even scratch the surface of what he has written about you in those talks. That’s because his thoughts, the shit he writes out in those notebooks, they are fucking creepy at times, alright?”
“Creepy?” Kirishima asked in confusion. “How—“
“He has strategies to take people out.” Several people visibly flinched in shock. “Both as capture methods…and sometimes permanently. ” Frowning, he muttered, “The nerd doesn’t mean any harm by it…but that’s how his brain works. How it’s always worked.”

Finally reaching out slowly, he cautiously took the drive, staring at it for a beat before looking back up at Izuku. “It has been less than eight hours since this Event was announced, and you spent the entirety of that in classes. What kind of plans do you already have, Problem Child?”
That damn smile was back, but for just a moment, Aizawa could see something else, something far more…mischievous behind Izuku’s eyes. “Oh, these? Sensei, I started them a while ago!”
He felt his body go still. “…when?”
Absently tapping at the table, the boy seemed to shift before him. None of the nerves he was used to, none of the meek personality that was ever present at the start of the year. This was something colder, something more serious.
“Since Kamino.”
X
“Mei…I was wondering if I could ask for your help with some—“
“I’m in.”
Izuku startled. “I—I haven’t even explained—“
“I’m loud, I’m brash, I say things I shouldn’t and understand machines far better than people.” Reaching up and shoving her dreads out of her face, she let out a hollow laugh.“I run people off before they even get close. Power Loader had to give me a separate lab because my classmates didn’t like how destructive I was yet still managed to finish so many projects—“
“It’s their loss,” Izuku cut in before he could stop himself.
Mei’s sad smile grew. “And that . You just—despite it all, despite my flaws, you still decided to be my friend. Through thick and thin, whether it’s hero costume gear or you taking down the government, I’m all in.”
Izuku shook his head. “You really are fantastic, Hatsume Mei.” Then with a warm smile he added, “So…about taking down the government…”
X
Hitoshi dropped his face into his hands. “Izuku. That sounds mildly illegal.”
Izuku shrugged. “The Event gives us permission to break laws. She, on the other hand, essentially has semi-permanent diplomatic immunity.”
“…what—!"
“She lives on I-Island."
Hitoshi slammed his hands on the table. “That explains nothing—"
Mei also slammed her hands on the table. “That explains everything!"
X
“Bakugou is fucking pretty, okay?!”
Silence. And then, “ Kacchan ?! ”
“I told you! Stupid and gay!” Hitoshi slammed the entrance shut behind him before the Watcher could follow after, feeling somewhat placated by the unhappy whirs it made on the other side of the hatch. “I flirted with him to use my quirk! It just…happened! And I did it with a Watcher present. It's going to be forever immortalized on the internet. Izuku, please, he is going to kill me .”
Hitoshi really began to regret befriending Midoriya Izuku when all he got in response was uncontrollable laughter.

Summary
All for One has did his absolute best to change his son into a perfect villain. The skills, the contacts, the money. Even the quirk. Now that he officially retired to focus on his family (namely, his beloved if slightly intimidating wife and absolutely adorable adopted daughter that he only had to destroy one yakuza clan to obtain - a bargain, really) he expects his son to become his heir. To have All Might tremble in fear.
Except, Izuku's definition of villainy sounds oddly antiheroic. Surely, he'll come around eventually. Right?

“Controlled demolition of Japan.” Izuku replies. “All Might… he has maybe a few years left, Uncle Stain.”

“Asa Naoki. Rabbit. I think we found a Command course student of the Villain Academy. And probably the Legion's new assistant.”
"Decay became a victim of a bystander syndrome - citizens expected the heroes to deal with him, while passing by heroes expected the police and child services to intervene."
“Himiko Midoriya. She accidentally killed her father in self-defense when he attempted to… forcefully tear off her fangs, which she uses to drink blood that she requires to stay healthy if not alive. She escaped home in panic, but later on attempted to turn herself in. Unfortunately, the hero she ran into considered her a freak as well, and found some genuine pleasure in beating her up. Fortunately, Kurogiri was in the area."
“They cut off his tongue. His family lived in constant fear over Mindscrew controlling them. They thought that nobody would believe him on the internet, but Legion did. Mindscrew apparently wanted to apply to the UA heroics course to prove everyone wrong before the tongue part happened.”
“Mustard's turn to villainy was a form of revenge against Midnight. He saw the adoption as some form of community service she did for fame. He was mourning the fact that he could no longer get unmasked and shout that he hates her for everything.”Miruko announces. “Table of Rejects will officially refrain from participating in any operations against the League of Villains, even after the alliance ends. From now on, for as long as they are okay with it, we have a non-aggression treaty. Feel free to tell him that, Lemillion.”
Nedzu stares at the rabbit woman openly. He isn’t the only one.

“YOICHI YOU UNGRATEFUL SON OF A BITCH!” He finally shouts. He is absolutely, absolutely furious. “STOP BEING A PROBLEM TO ME EVEN TWO CENTURIES AFTER YOUR DEATH!”
(“YOU’RE ONE TO TALK, HISASHI!” Yoichi shouts back. “YOU’RE THE SON OF THE SAME WOMAN YOU AMNESIAC ASSHOLE! AND YOUR MEGALOMANIAC ASS IS A PROBLEM TO ME TOO!”)
“Did you retire as a part of some grander scheme?”
“Actually, I did.” All for One replies, surprising everyone. Even Legion and Mischief appear to be taken aback. “I expected my son to face enough opposition and some failures for the heroes to push him back into my arms, to make him embrace my idea of evil. Then I would unretire myself, with him as my right hand man. I abandoned this plan entirely when I heard of him wiretapping Nedzu’s office, since he has proven to be able to do things that I never managed to do. He has outperformed my expectations so many times that I came to a conclusion that I’m truly too old for being an active villain, and have truly, officially and without any hidden strings attached retired.” He sighs. “At this point I’m starting to think that he is better at being a villain than me, either way.”

Izuku: I was. The majority of the forces involved in the coup have just swore their fealty to me which (in case of the coup failing) might or might not have been my demand for the help.
DemonLord: …
DemonLord: Okay, I didn’t see that coming.
DemonLord: So Miruko, Gang Orca and KNUCKLEDUSTER of all people are now working for you?
DemonLord: Did I ever mention that I’m incredibly, incredibly proud of you? It’s barely a year since you started your career as a villain properly and you now have enough firepower to be a major threat to the government. If not it’s equal.
Izuku: Use all that charm on mom, I’d like another sibling.61
“I’m going to inflict the most gruesome of fates I can think of on you, my dear president. I’m going to drain all of the Commission’s dirty secrets from your brain and upload them into the internet, just to thoroughly ruin every politician and journalist who helped you build your little empire of crime. Then I’ll give you an immortality quirk while also subtly altering your nervous system to inflict a locked-in-syndrome. I’m also going to personally kill every single Commission-aligned hero with their entire agencies. I’m going to publish the personal data about every single non-hero worker of the HPSC and their families on the internet and start a manhunt. This…” He adds, suddenly calmer. “... is how much you managed to anger me. And now that you know what I’m going to do… I shall start doing it.”
All Might. Ugh. All for One understands that he failed his son when he somehow let Yagi Toshinori become his moral (more or less) role model. Then again, he was All for One’s first actual child. A few mistakes can be excused, yes? He would have done way better with Asa and Aiko. Not with Eri. He wasn’t going to try to make Eri into a villain because she is clearly not a villain material.
