“I get Christmas. You get New Years. I thought..." Patrick trails off and licks his lips. Behind him, snow blows in through the still-open doorway. "I thought that's what we agreed."

He was unprepared for Santa's gentle eyes that settled on his face, seemingly tracing over his every feature. They made him feel kind of tingly inside, and curious as to what Santa looked like beneath the large white beard and the red fleece suit that covered up his patently fake belly.
Santa smiled at him then - David could tell from the faint laughter lines that appeared around his delightful brown eyes, and the lifting of his rosy cheeks.
