Summary
There is a smoking crater off Route 50…
A star falls from the sky, and people screech to a stop on the highway. Emergency vehicles are dispatched. Journalists abandon their programming halfway through the nightly news. In a nondescript parking garage, a team of government operatives load dart guns and pile into a black sedan.
Impact. The earth shakes. The ground catches fire.
The entire planet holds its breath, cherishing each moment the world remains unchanged because they should have gone the way of the dinosaurs.
But it isn’t unchanged. There is a smoking crater off Route 50.
…And it’s empty.
Or: Where Cas is a fallen star (read: alien) who hates humanity, Dean is a man with a complicated past, and Charlie is living in what she thinks is a Neil Gaiman novel, but is actually a Guillermo Del Toro film.

Summary
The last time Dean was in Chicago, he and Cas flew Baby up to the highest perch they could find in the crumbling skeletons of the ancient skyscrapers. They lay out on her flight-warm wings, and Cas pointed out the stars and the suborbital Academy to him, their fingertips curled together.
Dean, well, he was more interested in other things. Namely, Cas.
That was eight years ago.
Today should be the highlight of Dean's career as a racer. He's the only non-corporate flyer to be seeded for the Chicago track. He might not have racing implants glowing down the sides of his face, but he's got a full belly, his Impala 2067 primed and charged, and the biggest damned race on Terra to win. Everything from the skies and stars on down should be going his way.
But that's just not how Winchester luck goes.

Existing rather than living, accident survivor Dean is offered a job playing a Knight Of Hell Boss character in his favorite videogame 'Moondoor'. The salary, the free VR rig, the opportunity to play games for a living... where's the downside? Sam was too busy gaping with shock to say anything coherent, so Gabriel dove in and took over. “So, um, what was that?” he asked Castiel.
Castiel just blinked at him uncomprehendingly, raising one hand to touch his mouth with a puzzled frown.
“You and Dean,” Gabriel clarified. “What was that all about?”
“Dean. Uh. Dean hugged me,” Castiel said, his expression cool but his eyes shifting awkwardly away from the cat’s penetrating glare.
“With his mouth,” Gabriel drawled.
Castiel patted his lips again, guiltily, but then looked defiant as he stated firmly, “Yes. He hugged me with his mouth.”

Summary
Dean Winchester went from lone space explorer, joyriding through the stars, to captain of the Impala: a hand-built scavenging ship home to the best crew this side of the universe. He and his crew own their little slice of galaxy. They scavenge, they sell, it’s comfortable. Until Hannah asks if they can take in her homeless friend Castiel, another rebel Seraph, and Dean ends up saying yes - to a little more than he expected.

When Dean's perfect world comes crashing down around him, he has to deal with the difference between who he is on paper, and who he is in the real world. As Dean watches his brother fight against his genetic heritage, and his new boss begrudgingly submit to his, Dean wonders if what's on paper is really so perfect after all.
