“Mmm,” Eddie hummed -- more of a skeptical whine, really -- and tilted his head. “It’s pretty fucking dumb. I live in the goddamn woods.”
“Yeah, well,” Steve insisted, his already peaked frustration growing. “These are different woods. Enjoy the change of scenery for once.”
“They’re trees, Steve,” Eddie shot back, flapping his hands insistently. “They all look the fucking same.”
“When you two are done bickering like a married couple in their eighties,” Robin cut in from the back of the car, her face appearing between their two seats. “Could you kindly tell me if we’re there yet?”Or, the Fruity Four go on a camping trip that rapidly turns into a various levels of gay awakenings and queer crises.

“Why me?”
Steve was silent for a moment, breathing out as he contemplated his words. “Because you’re unafraid to be you. You’re just Eddie, unconditionally. You like rock music, and playing your guitar. You play dungeons and dragons and probably a shit ton of more things that I don’t know yet. Whenever people tried to shame you for just being you, you ignored them. There’s something admirable about being yourself. And, you’re just, sweet. Eddie Munson, you are the sweetest person I’ve ever met. And I’d be utterly idiotic to let you go.”
Sweet.
Steve Harrington thinks he’s sweet.
“You’re an idiot, Steve Harrington. I am not sweet at all. I’m hardcore.” Eddie couldn’t stop himself from smiling, his eyes tiredly squinting as he met Steve’s gaze. Steve smiled back at him as if Eddie was the only man in the world.
Maybe he was.
He felt like he was.
Under Steve Harrington’s gaze, the rest of the world faded away.
or, Dustin, Eddie, and Steve drive to California to meet the rest of the group, and along the way, feelings are discovered.

“What is wrong with you?“ Steve hisses, pulling at Eddie’s hands. Eddie lets him and bites at his lip playfully. He gets up suddenly, pushing Steve’s hands away from him, and heads towards the door.
“Both of you,” he says as he steps outside. “Don’t cancel on me.” And with that, he leaves.
Steve, still on the floor, gapes after him. He looks at Robin for any type of answer but she just smiles.
“Oh, you definitely don’t have to worry.”
