Summary
Harry knew something had changed the second time he came back from the dead in the Forbidden Forest. He hadn’t put much stock in the whole ‘Master of Death’ myth at the time until he'd already earnt the title. Life is good, peace is great, but there is, infuriatingly, the matter of what Hermione calls ‘the stray cat’. It was Ron’s joke first. Male cats being Toms and alley cats and such. Over time it’s become ‘the stray cat’ when they need to discuss it. Or, more often, ‘that damn cat is back again’.

Tom leaned in further so that his lips touched Harry's ear. His raspy voice and its merciless tone made Harry's veins freeze. "What if I had shown them their rightful place? – Crawling at my feet. What if I'd shown them what happens when they touch something that's mine?"
The hand on Harry's neck squeezed lightly. Not hard, it didn't hinder Harry's breathing yet. Just a warning. Tom let his nose brush against Harry's cheek. Harry shivered slightly. He cleared his throat and whispered, "You don't own me, though."
