Summary
Wednesday Addams moves to a quiet house outside a small town expecting solitude.
Instead, every Tuesday, she finds herself returning to Wolf Pack Rescue.
At first, she tells herself she is looking for an animal.
Then she meets Enid Sinclair, the newly qualified veterinarian who has come home to help run her family’s rescue.
Enid never pushes.
Never asks Wednesday to explain herself.
She simply tells her the animals’ stories.
And somewhere between frightened dogs, stolen socks, cooked chicken and one deeply unimpressed elderly terrier named Pickle, Wednesday begins to realise she may have found far more than she came looking for.

“I am. Or was,” Wednesday confirmed. “She has yet to show up to the occasion though,” she added, forcing her voice to remain in its usual monotone range when speaking so as to not show her arch-enemy in what way it affected her.
“Huh.” Bianca’s frown deepened, now in concern. “It’s not like Enid to be late to things like this. I mean, she can be scatterbrained for sure, but not when it comes to things she cares about a lot.”

“Very well.” Setting the final placemat down, she looked up at her daughter. “I have been trying to respect Enid’s privacy, but I see now that I have also overestimated your deduction abilities.”
Thing’s hasty retreat from the utensil box in the center of the table and subsequent scampering across the floor was made all the more pronounced by Wednesday’s heated silence. Just as she drew in a sharp breath, though, Morticia carried on.
“The Sinclairs have five children, with the appetites of growing werewolves.” Morticia turned back to the cabinet. “And they are not financially cursed in the way we are.”

“I’m Enid Sinclair,” the girl says, and holds her hand out in a firm motion, asking to be shook. Wednesday keeps her eyes on the girl, Enid, for a second longer before focusing back on her typing, ignoring the hand being offered. After a few moments of silence, Enid drops it.
“Is that supposed to mean something to me?” she bites, squinting just a little when Enid makes no move to leave. The girl is so bright, face and hair more colorful than the flowers she keeps. It’s almost nauseating.
“I heard you were hiring,” Enid says, still confident. “I’m here for the job.”
Wednesday’s fingers slip, and the typewriter prints a line of jumbled letters. Her head snaps up at the girl, watching her cheery smile drop to something more anxious when Wednesday does nothing but stare angrily. She looks back at the paper, scanning the line she just messed up:
