Summary
In Hindsight, keeping your wings hidden away and restricted was only bound to cause problems once you let them back out. But Lucifer can't afford to make his problems known, even if the chronic pain piled on top of his already deteriorating mental health is is beginning to drag him down in a way he might not be able to come back from by himself.

Alastor sees the way Lucifer's eyes widen, then narrow as he huffs sharply and turns his head the other way. “Oh, it's just you.”
“Just me indeed!” Alastor chirps. “And no worse for wear, if I might say so myself!”
“How fortunate. What do you want?”
“Nothing from you, I can assure you.” His grin widens. “I just wanted to catch some fresh air! It is good for the soul, you know.”
“Right,” Lucifer says skeptically.

He hadn’t even managed to put on shoes when Charlie’s loud, desolated groan at the other end of the hotel had made him rush out of his room, and his slippers and the hems of his pyjama bottoms were slowly getting soaked through. Why the fuck had he even bothered to change? He loved Charlie (see constants no. 1-4), but even he had to admit his current discomfort was solely the result of the list of healthy bedtime rituals she’d organised for him when, allegedly, the bags under his eyes had started developing a gravitational pull.

“You are something else,” Alastor mutters, his smirk turning kind of deranged as he watches the commotion in the water when an alligator thrashes in it to get to the human meat.
“Oh, darling,” Lucifer huffs, successfully pulling Alastor’s attention to him as he steps into his personal space. He stands on his tip toes until the barrel of the Winchester rests against the center of his forehead. “You don’t know the half of it,” he whispers with confidence, grinning a bit too wide with the slightly too sharp teeth and his eyes might have an unnatural red glow. Risky, putting it in one word.
And yet, he watches as the man’s pupils dilate slightly.
Got him.
