Summary
Jake sees a flash of movement out of the corner of his eye. There’s a creature watching them from the waves.
It’s a seal, he quickly realizes. Big and bulky, fully adult. Coarse brown fur, huge black eyes, slick pelt. The seal is staring directly at Jake, something baleful and almost challenging in its manner. Now that he thinks about it, he’s certain he’s seen this same seal patrolling the waters around the island or sunbathing lazily on the black rocks.
It has a distinctive, recognizable whisker pattern: prominent and bushy, like a particularly bad mustache.

Summary
Bradley had not been completely naïve when he entered this world. He’d known the potential for danger. That it was all very illegal and rife with corrupt authorities on top of that.
It’s why he stayed with Jake once he got on Jake’s books. Not many looked after their staff like Jake did, a natural protective streak running through his veins. Bradley doesn’t know much about Jake’s personal life even now but he wonders about his family, his background. Jake has always come across as someone meant for more than living life in the shadows. Bradley will always wonder how someone like Jake fell into this world of dirt and sleaze.
He’ll never ask.
In which Bradley is a hooker, Jake is his pimp and a nightclub owner and Bradley does absolutely not have feelings for his boss because that would be so very stupid.

Summary
Ever since he was a kid, Jake was able to see ghosts just like his family before him. As he got older, they taught him how to use his gifts to help people move on to be at peace and now, living in San Diego, he spends his days helping the people who need the help and hopes that, at the end of the day, he is making a difference and those people are at peace.
Sadly, helping people move on doesn't pay the bills and so he moonlights as Hollie Gibson, the worlds number one contemporary romance author. With multiple number one best sellers and a movie in the works, Jake's writing career is at the top of the game. Too bad he's got a massive case of writers block. At least until he meets Bradley Bradshaw and the two of them fall into a casual relationship that could've been ripped straight from one of Jake's books and sparks more than just Jake's writing.
