From the stories Hoseok had heard, nothing good happened to other squirrels when they encountered predators. He'd been trying not to dwell on the idea of vicious fangs digging into his flesh or something grim like that. Yet someone capable of doing that stood before him now, making all those thoughts rush into his head at once. Hoseok whimpered at those thoughts. He was as helpless as the scenarios in his head.

“Hoseok's fine,” Jimin says immediately. “Or, well. He's not hurt, anyway, don't worry.”
Namjoon's hackles settle, but only slightly. “Where is he? What's the matter?”
“He, um.” Jimin swallows and glances to his left, and then holds the phone further out as a very loose-limbed Hoseok tilts into frame, settling against Jimin's shoulder.
“Hi, baby, hi, sweetie,” he croons. The familiar walls of their bedroom are behind him, and some of his favourite nesting pillows are in frame now.
“Oh,” Namjoon breathes.
Or: Hoseok's heat is early, and Namjoon isn't home yet. Jimin steps in.

Jimin has been living with Hoseok's love for so long that he's afraid he doesn't know how to live without it.
But when he goes to bed, Hoseok is already there. When Jimin lies down, Hoseok hugs his body tightly, making them become a tangled mess, just like they have always been.
It's still kinda cold, Jimin thinks.
But at least Hoseok is still there.
