Summary
It was perfect.
Yuri drew a slow, deep breath, followed by another. He didn't count the seconds. He didn't need to. Time held no meaning the moment he crossed the threshold. That was how the game worked. That was the only way it worked. Time ruined everything. It wouldn't—couldn't—ruin this.
A rusty creek filled the room, twice. First, swiftly. The second time, so slow, a shiver crept down Yuri's spine. His lips twitched and his breathing hastened, threatening to overthrow his carefully refined pattern. But he held firm, his back exposed, his gaze on the wall, even as sturdy, paced footfalls approached. Yuri's fingers curled against his palms, his whole body tingled. Silence. Then, a hot breath on his neck.
He groaned, and a rumble of amusement danced in his ear.
“I missed you, kitten.”

Otabek just smiled more, though, before their arms coiled around each other. Yura's a death grip behind Otabek's neck, pleading to never be let go. Otabek's a soothing cradle across Yura's back, promising forever and beyond. The flickering lights bled through his closed lids, lightning exploding in the dark. But when they pulled back and pried their eyes open, the only thing in Yura's vision was his saviour in leather.

No wild lingerie. No secret, we-could-get-charged-for-this, house party. The room was dark, all except for the strings upon strings of fairy lights hung around the living room, casting an almost ethereal glow over Yura. The coffee table was covered in what seemed to be a variety of Kazakhstan treats, their imperfections outing them as homemade by inexperienced hands, but that warmed Otabek's heart even more. And the man in question himself …
There was Yura, standing in the middle of the room in a dark grey, pinstripe suit.

Yura has been hiding his Halloween plans from Otabek, and curious, he shamefully prods their friends for information. Only to be left with nothing but confusion. Unsure what to expect, Otabek returns from practice on Halloween day, walking right into Yura's special birthday surprise.
