Summary
The Kingdom of Diamonds falls, and it falls spectacularly. It falls like the leaves during autumn, like sand falling through the gaps between fingers, like parchment floating gracefully to the ground. It falls with the elegance of its ruler, with the grace of the royalty that had torn it down from the inside out.
Or: Sapnap is there to watch the destruction of the lands he once loved, at the hands of someone he used to know.

Summary
“I trust that you’ve succeeded.”
“Of course, your Highness. Death is sure to befall me before failure.”
“Except I do not wish for death to befall you at all.”
“Then I will simply not fail.” George does not waver even in the face of those fierce emerald eyes, does not stutter even in the makings of a dangerous pledge. “My duty is to serve you, and to protect you from all forms of harm til the very end of my days.”
“And why is that, exactly?” Dream’s hand moves to cup his cheek, his palm warm against his jaw and his thumb tracing over his cheekbones. George does not know if the hand is meant to tease or to test, and yet he only smiles as he soon pulls it away and takes it into his own.
“Because you are the Queen of Diamonds.” George kisses the back of his hand, for the first time. “And I, your loyal Ace.”
Or: Dream is a ruler, and George is his servant.

Summary
He reaches out into his pocket, taking out a small bottle that holds a sheet of parchment in it. He doesn’t know what he wrote in it this time, having long lost track of the original purpose that tradition demands. He doesn’t know which parts of his flurry of thoughts made it to words on paper, to ink staining parchments. He doesn’t know what paints he used for the canvas of his despair, whether they be the greens of envy or the reds of anger or the blues of sadness or the blacks of death. A wish, perhaps? No, he didn’t deserve it; he didn’t deserve much anymore after what he’d done. An apology, maybe? George deserves it, Sapnap deserves it, so many more people deserve it but it would never be enough. A message, probably? It can’t be, he has nothing else to say. Not to anyone alive, that is.
Or: Healing isn’t easy, Dream realizes. He wonders if he can do it.
