Summary
“What about gardenias?” the merchant finally proposed, and Dimitri hummed.
“I am not even entirely certain I know what a gardenia is… much less what it means,” he responded. Anna gave him a bright smile.
“Oh, it’s going to be perfect, Dimitri,” she assured. “They’re a small white flower with pretty foliage, and their meaning,” she said, eyes sparkling, “Is secret love.”

“No days off for you?” he asked. Dimitri shook his head and when he spoke he simply addressed Claude’s question in lieu of providing any sort of reply to the compliment. The way Dimitri just let the praise drift by without acknowledging it told Claude plainly enough that the Prince had no idea how to respond.
“Not for me, I’m afraid,” he answered instead. “I strive to be an example for my peers, both as their House Leader and their Prince. I do my utmost to avoid slacking off.”
Claude chuckled and gestured up to the sky, where the sun was bearing down on them. “I think anyone would have forgiven you for taking it easy today,” he remarked, but Dimitri shook his head.
“And yet, here you are,” he returned.
“I know how to handle the heat.”

“Got a speeder over on South Daphnel, right before the construction zone. Again. You there, Sylvain?” he said, releasing the input to wait for his response. There was a beep, and Dimitri could hear the beat of some hyped-up song playing in the background before he got the expected “a-yup” from his partner.
“On my way over,” Sylvain continued. “Model and plate?” he asked, for the record. Dimitri glanced out his windshield again.
“Looks like a Corvette. Bright red. Plates are…”
He gave a long pause, and then snorted into the receiver.
“H-0-T B-0-1-1…”

Summary
Four year olds shouldn’t have to check their food for poison before they ate. Ten year olds shouldn’t have to kill people because they would have killed him first if they were given the chance. Seventeen year olds shouldn’t have to fill their room with traps just so they could sleep at night.
But he had to.
His scars might not have been visible, but they still existed. They lived on as ghosts inside Claude’s head. Ghosts that got very loud when danger came near. Ghosts that screamed whenever he dropped his guard. Maybe they were only in his mind.
That didn’t make them less real.

Summary
The first snow of the year was always Dimitri’s favorite. Just watching the earth get blanketed in a sea of white, the snow settling in a crisp sheet and making everything look untouched and beautiful… there was nothing better than staying up late and watching it come down. He found the weather delightful and relaxing to view from his warm room, but if he were out in it right now, he knew that he’d have a far different opinion.
So what on earth was Claude doing out in the middle of the night?

Summary
“Prince Dimitri,” Rodrigue addressed him with a deep bow. “You have a guest waiting in the antechamber,” he said, and Dimitri’s lips curled.
“Another dandy after my crown? Or some simpering fool who thinks they can win my heart?” he questioned, and Rodrigue straightened up.
“It is Grand Duke Claude von Riegan of the Alliance,” he answered – and to that, Dimitri’s brows lifted. Gustave and Rodrigue had brought him a man from outside of Faerghus? Immediately his eyes narrowed. No doubt this would be a man after his crown. No doubt this would be a man seeking only to expand his sphere of influence and his power. No doubt this would be a man with grand designs of a royal wedding on his mind. No doubt this would be a man who believed he was the one who could finally conquer the beast and claim Dimitri’s hand.
No doubt this would be a man who would run screaming for the hills when Dimitri showed him he would not be tamed.

Summary
Khalid wanted their Almyran wedding to be everything Dimitri dreamed it could be, and so he had given Dimitri full autonomy when it came to the aesthetic decisions.
Why he had done that, Dimitri would never know.
Khalid knew him better than anyone else in the world, which meant he had to know that Dimitri had no head for fashion, no sense for design or anything else that warranted him being in charge of such a thing besides the fact that he was, technically, the bride. When it came down to it, Dimitri couldn’t care less about the decorations. All that mattered to him was being at his husband’s side, taking their vows for a second time here in Almyra so that no one in the world could call their union into question.
Their private little ceremony which wed them in Fodlan had been so much simpler than this…

Summary
The only defense Claude could give himself as Dimitri draped a blanket over his shoulders, patted his chest once, and bade him good night was that he really, honestly, had not meant for this to happen.
